Chapter 116: Goblin Bear Camp

The bugbear camp was converted from a natural cave.

The artificially dug tunnels and natural caves are nested inside each other and are intricate, making it easy for outsiders to get lost in the dim caves.

Gao Fei found a secluded place near the entrance of the cave, hid in the shadows, took out the "Object Location Technique" scroll presented by Father Gallup, and began to cast the spell.

He used the rapier carried by William Gordon as an anchor. When the spell was completed, an idea immediately came to his mind.

William's rapier was very close to him, less than a hundred meters away in a straight line.

Unfortunately, the "Item Location Technique" can only provide the coordinates of the target, but cannot give a route map to the coordinate point.

Goofy doesn't have the ability to walk in a straight line through walls, so he has to find his own way to his destination.

While sneaking, you should also check the coordinates from time to time to ensure that you do not deviate too far from your destination.

The deeper you go into the nest, the darker the ambient light becomes.

Bugbears are born with dark vision and do not need a light source for illumination.

Goofy's "Spell Thief" has the exclusive professional ability "Eye of Insight". It also has dark vision and is not affected by dim environments.

Gao Fei sneaked and explored in unfamiliar caves, and met bugbears many times in and out of the lair. He relied on his "invisibility" to protect himself and his dexterity to avoid the enemies without any danger.

It took him about half an hour to finally get within 50 meters of his destination, and now there was only one road left in front of him.

The tunnel in front extends almost vertically downward, like a deep well.

A wooden escalator was erected at the mouth of the well. The wires tied to it were rusty and didn't look very strong.

Goofy didn't need to step on it to know that even if the wooden ladder could bear his weight, it would definitely make a harsh creaking sound, alerting the bugbears in the cave.

Out of caution, he did not use the wooden ladder. Instead, he took out a hook rope from the thief's tool bag, fixed it at the mouth of the well, and hung down along the rope.

Before his feet hit the ground, Gao Fei grasped the rope with his right hand, freed his left hand to draw his sword, and stabbed the ground under his feet twice.

There was a solid touch from the sword's edge, which showed that there were no traps such as flaps on the ground beneath his feet.

Gao Fei sheathed his sword, rested his feet on the ground, and with a flick of his wrist, retracted the hook.

At the bottom of the shaft, there is a tunnel extending horizontally, with the end blocked by a wooden door.

Through the crack in the door, there was a loud noise.

Gao Fei walked to the door and peeked inside through the crack in the door.

Behind the door is a basement with a wooden table in the middle. Two bugbear guards are sitting at the table, gambling with dice carved from stone.

There are also some gold and silver coins on the table as chips.

These two guys laughed when they won money, cursed when they lost money, and suspected that their opponents were cheating.

Looking at this situation, no matter which bugbear loses all his money first, he will probably turn over the table and default on the money, and start a fight.

Next to the guard room, there seems to be a dormitory.

Through the tattered wooden door, the sound of snoring could be heard one after another.

Gao Fei thought about it.

To get to the dungeon where William is imprisoned, you must pass through the guard room and dormitory.

Then the two bugbears in the guard room are a stumbling block that must be removed.

If you rush in and start a fight, the shouts from the two guards will probably wake up the bugbears in the next door dormitory and rush out to join the fight.

In such a small indoor environment, thieves do not have enough space to take advantage of their speed. Once they are surrounded by bugbears, they will be beaten to death if they cannot last two rounds.

Gu Zheng

Goofy must eliminate the two bugbear guards cleanly, without making enough noise to wake up the sleeping ones.

The two bugbear guards have health points of around 35.

Being addicted to gambling gave Gao Fei a good opportunity to launch a surprise attack.

However, Gao Fei has to fire at least two swords in a row, plus sneak attack damage, to be able to kill a bugbear in seconds. What should I do if there is another bugbear?

If you use a pistol to launch a surprise attack, the damage will be higher than that of a rapier, but you won't be able to kill two strong bugbears in one round.

Unless there is a critical hit.

This kind of luck-based thing cannot be counted on at all.

Gao Fei thought for a moment and came up with an idea.

He first spent 15 points of magic power to bless himself with "Cat's Elegance", "Owl's Wisdom" and "Eagle's Majesty", increasing the three attributes of agility, perception and charm by 4 points respectively.

Improving agility is to increase the attack roll and damage modifier by 2 points each when launching a surprise attack.

Improve perception and enhance two "perception" skills. If there are enemies hiding in the dark in the room, you will be more likely to detect them in time.

Charm is the spellcasting attribute of the "Spell Thief". It is increased to 25 points, which increases the hit and save difficulty of the spell by 2 points each, trying to avoid negative interference caused by luck.

Next, Gao Fei spent another 5 points of magic power to add 2 levels of "silence" to a pistol bullet.

"Silence" is the core spell used by Gao Fei to sneak in and assassinate. Its importance is even as important as "invisibility".

Only by gathering the "Silence Technique" and the "Invisibility Technique" can the current "Spell Thief" surpass other thief-type professional types including the "Temple Vanguard" and firmly occupy the position of S-class.

Gao Fei loaded the bullets filled with "Silence Technique" into the magazine of his pistol, kicked open the door, and strode in with two guns in hand!

As a thief, is it really okay to be so arrogant?

Aren't you afraid that knocking on the door will make too much noise and alert the guards?

Shocked!

The magic-infused bullet in the barrel of the gun has opened a "silence barrier" with a radius of 20 feet.

Not to mention just kicking in the door, even if Gao Fei sang "Goddess Splitting the View" live, the two bugbears in the room wouldn't be able to hear it.

Before the bugbear guards could react, Goofy fired his guns left and right, like a western cowboy, and fired three shots at them.

The guardroom is a very small space, completely shrouded in a "silent barrier".

Within this range, gunfire is suppressed.

Silent flames spewed from the muzzle.

The silent bullet flew out of the gun barrel and embedded itself in the bugbears' thick bodies, stirring up large areas of scarlet and dazzling blood.

One of the bugbear guards was shot twice and died on the spot.

Another guard, whose skull was opened by a shot from Gao Fei, fell backwards, crushed the wooden table, and fell to the ground. His eyes were full of terror, his mouth was wide open, and he was vomiting blood and howling.

However, as soon as his screams left his throat, they were suppressed by magic and could not reach the dormitory across the door.

Gao Fei stepped forward and fired another shot, ending his futile struggle.

The deathly silent guard room was filled with the smell of blood.

The brief and fierce attack lasted less than ten seconds in total.

The two bugbears who were attacked failed to raise the alarm until they died.
