Chapter 76: Copying the Sutras in the Meditation Room

Seeing the pious admiration of Zen Master Wuwang, Guo Mo couldn't help but wanted to meet this "legendary" Daoji monk for many years.

"Amitabha, donor Guo has great blessings. It is very good to meet fellow disciple Daoji." At this point, Zen Master Wuwu believed Guo Mo's words.

However, seeing him with martial arts skills, the subconscious guard still existed.

"Donor Guo's wish to copy scriptures and pay homage to Buddha, I can fulfill your wish, Jueming——"

Zen Master Wuwang called the monk who knew the guest: "From today on, you will personally be responsible for the daily life and food of the two donors Guo in the temple."

"You can borrow a Buddhist scripture from the Sutra Pavilion every morning. You must copy it in one day."

"On the second day, go to the Sutra Pavilion to return the originals and borrow new sutras." Wuwang glanced at Guo Mo again, "Donor Guo, the copied sutras are not allowed to be taken away from the Shaolin Temple. I hope Donor Guo will forgive me."

Guo Mo naturally nodded in agreement.

Looking at the sky, it's past noon, so it's impossible to borrow scriptures today.

The monk Jueming, who knew the guests, first led the two of them to the cross courtyard and stayed in a guest room with a good environment.

It is said to be a guest room, but it is actually quite spacious, with two rooms, light and dark.

There is one bedroom, one that is clearly a living room, and a covered front porch.

Under the eaves of the corridor, there is a round stone table with three stone piers scattered around it.

It was kept very clean and had a unique sense of elegance.

Guo Mo and the other two did not bring much luggage, so they asked Jueming for two sets of clothes worn by monks, so they entered the temple to follow the monks.

In the living room, Jueming went to bring a long food box, four dishes, one soup, and some white flour steamed buns.

Although it is bland, it is better than clean. Guo Mo and Huang Rong are not picky and use it with gusto.

The first day passed like this, everything seemed so natural.

Guo Mo even stopped practicing night meditation for two years and just regarded himself as an ordinary pilgrim.

Early the next morning, Jueming brought another delicious breakfast.

Tofu, pickles, white rice porridge, and two boiled eggs, it has a somewhat familiar taste.

After breakfast, Guo Jing and Huang Rong each changed into monk robes, looking like two lay disciples.

Jueming was also a careful person in his work. Not only did he bring new monk robes to the two of them, they also fit their body sizes.

It was still early, and there were no incense-burning guests in the temple. Most of the monks were not outside during morning classes.

Jueming led the two of them through the three-story courtyard, basically arriving at the second half of the Shaolin Temple.

Turning around the corridor, a very ordinary courtyard appears in front of you.

The courtyard is not big, covering about two acres of land. In the center of the courtyard, there is a three-story building.

Entering the courtyard and coming to the small building, I was shocked to see a horizontal plaque hanging on the small building - Sutra Pavilion.

"Is this the famous Buddhist Scripture Pavilion? It's too ordinary." Guo Mo secretly complained.

The monk Jueming, who knew the guest, stopped and said, "Donor Guo, this Sutra Pavilion has three floors. The donor can only borrow scriptures on the first floor."

"The second and third floors are where the temple stores martial arts secret books. Non-monks of the temple are not allowed to enter. Even monks of the temple must have permission from the elders before they can borrow them according to regulations."

"Donor Guo should remember not to embarrass the young monk, Amitabha."

Guo Mo also clasped his palms together and nodded in agreement.

Under the leadership of Jueming, the three of them entered the first floor of the Sutra Pavilion and saw that it was filled with sutras in various categories, at least thousands of them.

Guo Mo was not in a hurry to choose, so he took a look around first.

It turns out that they are not all scriptures, but also some insights and comments on the scriptures by eminent monks from past dynasties.

Huang Rong followed step by step. Even now, she still doesn't know what "Brother Mo" wants to do. To learn martial arts, it seems like she doesn't need to come to Shaolin Temple, right?

Guo Mo had already found the scripture he was looking for, pretended not to see it, looked around for a while, and finally chose a "Great Peacock Sutra".

This is a commentary on the "Buddha's Great Peacock Mingwang Sutra" translated by Bu Kong in the Tang Dynasty. It has three volumes in total.

Guo Mo held it in his hand and said, "Master Jueming, can Xiaosheng borrow this 'Great Peacock Sutra' today?"

Jueming took a look at it. He had also read the "Great Peacock Sutra". It was not a very famous sutra. When he read it at the time, he thought it was a "novel about strange things".

If Guo Mo wants to borrow it, of course there is no problem.

After borrowing the scriptures, the three of them returned to their residence again.

In spring in the Central Plains, the flowers are fragrant and the sun is shining warmly.

Guo Mo asked Jueming to find paper and pen, and he simply started copying the scriptures on the round table under the eaves of the corridor. Jueming and Huang Rong sat on both sides and watched.

Zhao Ji, Huizong of the Song Dynasty, was not very good at being an emperor. He created this "thin gold body", but it was also unique.

In his previous life, Guo Mo was forced to practice by his parents at the age of five, and he had worked hard for more than ten years.

He copied the "Great Peacock Sutra" stroke by stroke, with such a pious look that even Guo Mo himself was a little moved.

After staying for a long time, Huang Rong felt bored, so she told Guo Mo to go out for a walk and come back in the evening.

In this way, the day passed.

Guo Mo regretted it a little. The whole text contained about 20,000 words. Even though he was as strong as Guo Mo, he was very tired after finishing it.

Jueming watched from the side for a whole day. Except for eating and going to the toilet, he never left Guo Mo without stopping or saying a word.

Jueming couldn't help but admire in his heart, "Donor Guo really sincerely worships the Buddha!"

After copying the "Great Peacock Sutra", Guo Morao asked Jueming to place the copied scriptures in front of the Buddha for worship, fulfilling his mother's long-cherished wish.

On the second day, Guo Mo borrowed a copy of "The Sutra of Weishe".

On the third day, Guo Mo borrowed a copy of "Mo Ke Seng Zhi Lv".

On the fourth day, Guo Mo borrowed a copy of the "Bodhisattva Sutra".

Huang Rong still went out every day during the day, either to pay homage in the Shaolin Temple, to watch the scenery on Songshan Mountain, or to go back to Dengfeng County to have a tooth ceremony.

Guo Mo, on the other hand, spent several days borrowing and copying scriptures, and rarely spoke for several days.

Even Guo Mo himself did not expect that while copying Buddhist scriptures, he actually read them.

I may not fully understand the content of the scriptures, but I feel that my state of mind has improved a lot, and I feel like I am suddenly enlightened.

Jueming was also full of admiration for Guo Mo. Not to mention a secular person, not even his fellow disciples in the temple could do what Guo Mo did.

Such a large amount of scripture copying, constantly changing scriptures, and meticulous handwriting.

On the fifth day, after breakfast early in the morning, Guo Mo followed Jueming to the "Sutra Collection Pavilion".

Huang Rong felt bored, so she simply stayed at an inn in Dengfeng County for the past few days, and specially bought Guo Mo's top-quality "Four Treasures of the Study" to send to Shaolin.

"Donor Guo, the monk has some trivial matters today, so he won't accompany the donor in. I will arrange for someone to deliver the meal at noon, and in the evening the monk will pick up the scriptures copied by the donor."

After arriving at the door of the Tibetan Sutra Pavilion, Jueming and Guo Mo expressed their intention to leave, sang "Amitabha" and left first.

Guo Mo clasped his hands together and bowed to see him off, but he didn't see a bright light.

Is it the red sun hanging in the sky, or the cunning look in Guo Mo's eyes?
