Chapter Fourteen I'll be here today, bye bye

The atmosphere of sunset is different from that of sunrise, at least it is obvious in the camera.

The light of sunrise is light blue, giving a mysterious and quiet feeling. The light of sunset, after a day of hustle and bustle, the dust in the air, the scattered sunlight is orange-red, warm and earthly.

If in the hands of a very particular director, maybe the sunrise and sunset scenes cannot be shot together. But Ronald is the true successor of Roger Corman, the successor of the master of fast shooting, and the temporary director of low-cost exploitation films.

, there is no such concern at all.

Finally, after 4 pm, the sky began to darken, and the magic light that filmmakers love most was about to arrive again. The staff and actors had already resettled, and the director of photography lay in front of the viewfinder and looked at it for a long time, and finally gave the OK signal.

Ronald took a deep breath and issued the command.

"recording?"

"opened."

"camera?"

"full speed."

"Ms. Voronov?"

"I'm ready."

"'High School Life' Scene 135, First Shot, First Line!"

"action!"

Ronald no longer roared his orders like he did at the beginning of the morning, and became much gentler. Maybe his voice was tired from shouting too much, or maybe he was a little reluctant to take these last two shots.

Mary Woronov, who played the role of the headmistress, began to walk towards the camera with her head held high. Behind her were two followers, one fat and one thin, who were complete buffoons. On both sides were two sexy beauties, Chrissy and Mara.

.

Ronald gave them another chance to appear on the scene. The two changed their clothes and dressed up as ordinary students, but their dance and posture were still very sexy, and they were very impressive even in the mid-shot.

But Mary is shot from the front, and the two beauties are only shot from the side. When Mary passes between them, the audience's attention will focus on Mary.

Actors attach great importance to their screen time. Only by performing well can the director and editor be merciful and retain more of your scenes.

Mary Woronov is amazing, she seems to make the camera fall in love with her. Ronald hid behind the camera to watch her performance, and his eyes were involuntarily attracted to her. I think after the film is finished, the audience in the cinema will be like him.

Inexplicably, he would look at her face.

Why is this? Maybe the composition puts her in the middle? Maybe she is taller? No, PJ Soles and Dai Young also enjoyed this treatment, but they seem to lack this magic.

It should be Mary's energetic expressions and movements, right? It looks very real, and people will always react to real expressions and movements. In short, there is something about this Mary, Ronald thought to himself.

"cut!"

Only the last shot remains.

"I want a panning shot. The two people walk in front of the camera from left to right, and the camera keeps following. Kate, played by Dai Yang, is a little unhappy after being punished by being detained in school. Liv, played by pj, has been comforting her.

He made faces, played music, and skipped all the way forward. He kept following the photo, walked past the tree, and kept going until I told him to stop."

After understanding Roger Corman's secrets, Ronald came up and gave specific instructions.

The camera focused on PJ Soles and Dai Yang on the grass. The camera started with the two standing in the east, with the sun shining on their faces, looking youthful and lively. Then the two slowly walked towards the west, with the sunset slanting on their faces.

There was a golden outline on their bodies, which was inexplicably a little sad. It just matched Kate's change of mood after hearing the punishment. If the direction was changed, and the two people were backlit in the close shot at the beginning, but they were in full light when they moved away, it would be different from the whole scene.

The mood is wrong.

Ronald was a little proud. It seemed that I knew a little bit about lighting. It was his background as a portrait photographer. Seeing the two actors gradually walking away, Ronald felt a little sad in his heart. This life as a temporary director was

It's about to end.

"cut!"

Director of photography Dean Candy signaled that the scene was captured, and Ronald picked up the electric horn:

"Everyone, I announce that today's filming is finished."

After a pause, Ronald resumed his assistant's tone and began to announce next week's shooting schedule:

"We're done now. We'll have a rest tomorrow. The meeting time for the day after tomorrow is 07:00 a.m., and the group meeting time is 08:00. The location is Mount Carmel High School, 7011 South Hoover Street. The map is attached to the announcement the day after tomorrow. For the first time

Those who go can get familiar with it first. This high school has been closed, so when you arrive at the school on Monday, don’t be surprised to find that there are no students or teachers.”

"Oh, by the way, thank you everyone! Thank you for your cooperation today, thank you!"

Everyone started to leave, and Ronald walked over to thank director of photography Dean Candy alone. He wanted to shake Dean's hand.

But Dean pulled him over and gave him a hug. "Ronald, well done. Well done, kid." After saying that, he patted him hard on the back.

Ronald thanked several actors individually, including President Assistant Gail, Recorder Jenny, Makeup Artist Gigi, and Dancer Sianna, and finally it was Jim's turn.

"Hey Jim, good job today!"

"You too, Ronnie."

The two hugged tightly.

"You go first, Ronald. I will stay and watch the camera crew load the equipment into the truck. I will also sign the actors' work orders."

Normally, this is a task that the first assistant director directs the crew assistants to do. Jim knew that Ronald was in a very excited mood and was very tired today, so he offered to do these chores.

"Let's go together, it's only a matter of ten minutes."

The two began to stare at the camera crew as they packed up their equipment. Once they were done, the location shooting at Van Nuys High School would officially be over.

"Where is Ronald?"

Roger Coleman's voice came from the school gate behind him.

"I'm here, Mr. Coleman."

"Ah, good. I'm worried that you've already left. I'll help you load the film into the car later."

"Okay, Mr. Coleman."

The film needs to be developed before it can be shown. "Rock High School" used MGM's "Metropolitan Color" laboratory, which is cheaper than the "Seven Arts Color" used by major studios. And in order to save money, Roger Corman did not

Like big film crews, they develop and print samples every day, but twice a week, and today happens to be the day for printing.

Ronald and the red-haired camera assistant moved the film into the trunk of the crew's van and said hello to the driver Chris. Chris came back from the hospital in the afternoon and also heard about Ronald being the temporary director.

, stretched out his hand from the cab and shook his hand.

After Ronald moved the film, Roger Coleman and the driver Chris gave instructions and asked him to follow them to the printing laboratory. Then he got into his BMW. He stuck his head out of the cab and said to Ronald: "

Ronald, before 10 o'clock tomorrow morning, you and Jim come to the New World office together, and we will look at the developed samples."

The samples were originally meant for the director, assistant director, producer, actors, director of photography, etc. The assistants were not qualified, and this was the first time Ronald had the opportunity to see them.

Roger Coleman's BMW drove out of the school gate, accelerated and turned left onto Victory Avenue, and the van followed suit.

Ronald turned back towards his Volkswagen Hare and saw Jim starting his Harley. Ronald often joked that it was a "hardly move".

The quality of motorcycles is worrisome and they always break down. But Jim knows mechanics very well, so small problems can’t trouble him.

Before getting in the car, Ronald looked back at the gate of Van Nuys High School, feeling like the song played by Sienna...

"My whole body is electrified,

This current is building up.

I'm losing control,

Because you called me,

I was "electrically shocked" by your eyes

…”

It's been a long day. But no matter how long a dream is, it must end...

That's it for today, come here, goodbye.
