Chapter 18 Who is DMK?

"Humanity was hit by the death light of the comet, leaving only a pile of 'calcium dust'." A female scientist played by Mary Woronov discussed the night of the comet with her colleagues in the "underground research institute" built in the studio

disaster...

"What if there are survivors? Theoretically the radiation would be blocked by metal or very thick concrete, and I have no doubt there will be many survivors in Los Angeles."

"You are right, but the survivors will be scattered in various places, and in those places there are people who were partially contaminated by radiation and turned into zombies."

"How do survivors find other survivors? Where do they look? What are their first actions? You know it's like a nuclear war, the first survivors turn on the radio..."

Mary Woronov turned on the radio and started changing channels.

"Attention all survivors in Los Angeles, California, and America, I am Samantha. After you hear the broadcast, you should come to Sherman Oaks..."

"A survivor has arrived at the radio station!" Audrey, played by Mary Woronov, stood up excitedly.

"cut!"

"Very good, this lens is very good." Ronald hadn't shaved his beard for a few days and it had grown all over his face. The scene in the studio was about to be finished.

"Ronald, I read the script. Who is the DMK at the beginning?" Voronov was wearing a white coat and dressed like a scientist. His long curly hair fell down his shoulders. He looked young, beautiful and full of professional temperament. And "rock and roll"

The old-fashioned female principal in "High School" is simply two different people.

"I haven't thought about it yet. What suggestions do you have?" Ronald sat down on the director's chair with his name on it. He pulled down the brim of the baseball cap slightly to block the dazzling light. He felt like closing his eyes to relax.

Take a nap.

During the continuous high-intensity shooting, the actors and staff all had time to rest. Only a few people from the directing team were busy. Ronald had to worry about tomorrow's storyboards and yesterday's dailies after get off work every day, so he only had four hours of rest every day. Five hours.

Even though he had practiced wrestling, he was still a little tired. Sometimes he took the time to take a nap on the set.

"Why not add a male character? The abbreviation is dmk."

"I thought about this, but what is the role of introducing a character at the end? To show that there are other survivors in Los Angeles and give the audience a sense of hope?"

"Yeah, that's it. Your movie is originally a light-hearted movie. From the first scene, the audience knows that Regina will be the hero who saves the world in the end, so in the end, she and Hector are given a mission.

Wouldn’t it be better to find other survivors and unite?”

"Good idea, what else?" Ronald took off his hat and simply sat up. Mary Woronov is the queen of exploitation films. She is familiar with all the plots of low-cost production. Listen to her

The idea doesn't hurt either.

"Also, isn't Samantha jealous that her sister Regina is always more favored by boys? Why not pair this DMK with her. In this way, the audience's expectations for the two heroines will be explained at the end."

"Hmm, okay." Ronald sat up completely, took out the small notebook he kept with him, and started jotting down the ideas Voronov gave him with a ballpoint pen.

"You know what? Mary, I think you should try your hand at screenwriting.

"Yeah? Do you think so too? In fact, I wrote scripts and stories when I was at the Warhol Factory in New York." Mary Woronov's eyes were full of memories.

"Andy Warhol? I met him in New York at Christmas. Isn't he the editor-in-chief of the magazine?"

"Ha, don't young people today understand Andy?" Woronov smiled, "In the 1960s, his silver factory was a place where weirdos in New York often went. That was where he made silk screens.

A factory that prints and reproduces his paintings, that's how he makes money."

"Oh? I didn't expect that he was still a famous figure?" Ronald thought of Andy Warhol, who had messy hair and was eating at Club 54 with a camera without film. "

"Yeah, that's the drag queens in New York, trans people, and a lot of weirdos, they're all there. They perform some fake weddings of drag queens, and some Sadist performances to support his factory, and I hang out there too.

In a few years.

Fortunately, I later left that chaotic place and lived in Europe for two years. Finally, I met Roger Coleman and I got a normal job."

"Oh, I didn't expect it. What kind of person was he then?"

"Well...he never pays the bills..."

"Hahaha……"

Ronald and Voronov chatted for a while and began to develop the story of dmk.

He gave DMK the name Danny Mason Keener and gave him a story. Danny was another survivor who broke Regina's console record for sixth place at the movie theater that day and then returned

After arriving at my home, I stayed in the basement for one night.

After escaping his life, he drove an unoccupied sports car and wandered around the suburbs of Los Angeles. At the end of the movie, he met Regina and Samantha. There was only one scene, who should I cast?

After the day's shooting, Ronald found a phone booth and called Ed Limato, William Morris' agent.

"Ed, I have a role that I would like Nic Cage to guest star in, can you arrange it?"

"Guest appearance? He is currently rehearsing on the set. I'm afraid I don't have time."

"I let him go to audition for a new movie, and now I'm asking him to come back for a half-day guest appearance. Ed, do me a favor."

"Half a day? Just half a day? Okay, okay, Nick keeps talking about you in my ears, so let him go for half a day."

"Thanks."

Then the next Saturday came, the last day of filming for the crew. They came to Bunker Mountain to shoot exterior scenes.

Ronald didn't ask the police to clear the place this time because there weren't many people on the road during the weekend.

The cost of the shooting was running out, and there was no money left in Ronald's shooting account.

So this time Ronald decided to shoot secretly. The actors put on their makeup in the RV, and after the camera found a good position, they got out of the car and found a location. After filming, they went back to the RV, and after the shots were taken, they quickly evacuated the scene.

"It's so interesting. If PD sees it, will he arrest us?" Nicolas Cage was a little excited. He had never shot such a street scene without registration.

"No, PD is an old acquaintance of mine. It doesn't matter if I saw him." Ronald was talking about the two policemen who put on zombie hoods and made a cameo appearance in the movie to capture Samantha.

"When the time comes, you just need to remember to drive the sports car slowly and don't crash it. I borrowed this from Mr. Roger Coleman. There must be no scratches at all." Ronald threw away the keys of the Mercedes-Benz convertible.

To Nicolas Cage.

"My driving skills are pretty good, don't worry." Cage didn't expect to have a cameo role and be able to drive such a cool convertible sports car. When he gets rich, he will buy one himself.

"Okay, I won't call you "A" later. You go down and take a good position, and then watch my gestures to start shooting. After I stop, you come back and get in the car." It is very easy to shoot in broad daylight without permission from the municipal government.

He was caught, so Ronald discussed the process with the actors in advance and evacuated quickly when he was discovered in the middle.

Ronald roughly narrated the scene to Catherine Mary Stuart, Nicolas Cage, Kevin Costner, and Kelly Maroney, who was called back to reshoot the scene.

Regina and Hector discovered the experts' conspiracy at the base and escaped with some captured children. They formed a family, adopted the orphans, and continued to live in Los Angeles.

One morning, they and their children were waiting for a red light at a street intersection. Samantha felt that her sister and brother-in-law were making a fuss. In a city without people, there was no need to obey the traffic rules.

Regina and Hector teach their children to follow the rules even if no one is around.

"Ugh..." A Mercedes-Benz convertible drove up, and Samantha was frightened and returned to the sidewalk.

A handsome guy wearing sunglasses made a U-turn at the end of the road and drove up to Samantha. "Hey, you shouldn't run the red light. It's very dangerous."

"Did you hear that, sister?" Regina said the same thing on the sidewalk.

"Nice car." Samantha said with envy as she looked at the sports car.

"Come on, come on, I've picked up more than 30 sports cars like this. Do you want to go for a ride together?" Danny Mason Keener, played by Cage, invited Samantha to get in the car.

"I want to go for a ride with him?" Samantha got into the sports car and turned to her sister and said.

"Remember to come back before twelve o'clock." Regina still followed the rules of life before the disaster. She didn't want to forget normal modern life.

"Twelve o'clock? I will make sure she comes back." Danny, played by Cage, stepped on the accelerator and was about to start the sports car.

"What's his name?" Regina hugged Hector's arm and shouted to her sister Samantha.

"May I have your name?"

"Danny, Danny Mason Keener."

"His name is Danny, Danny Mason Keener," Samantha repeated loudly to her sister.

The camera position behind the sports car captured all of this. Cage stepped on the accelerator and the sports car drove forward. The three-letter abbreviation "dmk, Los Angeles, California, Gold Rush State" was revealed on the rear of the car.

"cut!"

After giving the order, the actors hurriedly ran to the RV. The camera crew behind them immediately removed their tripods and also ran to the car. Finally, there was the recording crew carrying the recording pole.

The sports car in front of Nicolas Cage and Kelly Maroney made a U-turn, and Cage was still shouting something.

"There's a patrol over there."

Ronald watched his Mercedes-Benz sports car walk in and heard what he said clearly.

"You guys drive away and meet at the studio." Ronald made a trumpet shape with his hand and shouted to Cage.

Then he jumped into the RV and said, "Hurry, hurry, run! Run!"

The driver put on his sunglasses, started the car, and the RV entered the driveway, then stepped on the accelerator and drove forward.

Ronald stuck his head out on the RV, and behind him seemed to be a motorcycle driven by a police officer, patrolling slowly. The people on it seemed to have changed shifts, and they were PD. They might also be patrolling from other neighborhoods.

"He waved to Cage behind the RV, follow him quickly."

The two cars went up a slope, and the motorcycle driven by the patrol police behind them seemed not to notice their abnormal situation, and was gradually blocked by the road and out of sight.

"Almost, almost got caught." Ronald was relieved, the team finished filming the scene here and left.
