Chapter 38 Why are you here?

After settling Jean's matter, Ronald returned to the casting studio to update them with the actors' audition photos. There were many actors who had files with the casting director, but in fact they had never filmed any major roles and were still struggling to make ends meet.

Struggle up.

The income of many actors is extremely unstable. When they have roles, they can earn thousands of dollars, but they may not receive any roles for up to a year, and they have to pay for various acting training classes, makeup artists, and hairstylists.

Updating audition photos once a year is a big burden for them. Commercial photographers usually charge them 100-200 US dollars for a set of shooting fees.

It only costs $50 to take a set of audition photos here at the casting studio. If you need more copies, you just need to take the negatives and go to a Kodak lab to develop a few copies.

This is an additional service provided by Julia and others. It can not only update the audition photos to prevent the actors from being too different from the photos and cause the audition to fail. It also makes the actors happy to have more contacts with the casting studio and have better cooperation in the future. It is a win-win business.

Strategy.

Of course, another winner is Ronald. He can take several pictures every week, and at most, he can take more than 10 pictures. The income of 40 US dollars each is really good.

After taking the photos, Ronald stayed in the studio. There were many scripts accumulated over the years in the studio. Ronald asked for some and flipped through them casually.

"Hi, young photographer, we meet again."

"Why are you here?" Ronald heard the sound and saw that it was the taxi driver with a big head he met twice at the airport. "Oh, by the way, you are also a teacher at the acting training class. Are you here to take classes?

?”

"No, no, let me see who the lucky guy is who plays opposite my daughter."

It turns out that his daughter is also an actress.

"I haven't formally introduced myself yet, Ronald Lee."

"Call me Bert, that's my daughter Diane Lane." The forehead pointed in the direction of the audition room.

Ronald took a look and saw a long-haired girl standing outside the door of the audition room, chatting with a middle-aged man. She was the heroine of the movie "Love at Sunset Bridge" that she saw last time in Los Angeles. She was captured by Laurence Olivier.

The little girl hailed as the new generation's Grace Kelly.

"It turns out that he is the father of the new Grace Kelly. No wonder he laughed so happily last time."

The middle-aged man opposite Diane had a director's viewfinder hanging around his neck, and he looked like he was the director of the movie.

"Is Diane going to play opposite an actor?"

"No, the director is auditioning male actors. Several candidates will come today to shoot a film with Diane to see who matches her better on the screen."

So Bert's daughter Diane has been confirmed as the heroine, and now it's time to choose an actor to match her. The new Grace Kelly is still extraordinary.

"Time Magazine is also coming to interview Diane, and she will be the cover star in August." Burt said about his daughter with great pride.

"Time Magazine?" Ronald had seen this magazine before. Those who can appear on the cover of Time Magazine are usually big figures in politics and business.

"Dad, Dad, the director said he wants the whole film...come here." Diane shouted to this side.

"Let's talk later, Ronald." Bert walked over and started chatting with the director.

When Ronald saw that they couldn't chat, Bert started to argue with the director. Bert was very excited, rejected the director with a firm attitude, took his daughter's hand and left.

Before leaving, the little girl even made a face at the director, and Ronald couldn't help but smile.

"God, they are going to Fiji in the South Pacific in a few days to start filming. Now change the heroine?" Julia started to lose her temper after learning that Diane Lane rejected the heroine.

"That crazy director, Randall Kleiser, wanted both the male and female protagonists to appear naked during filming. Diane is only 14 years old, so he must be crazy." Margery replied.

"The previous heroine, Jennifer Jason Leigh, also resigned because of this incident. She is already 17 years old and it is impossible for her to accept full frontal nudity."

"Jennifer's father is the actor Vic Morrow, so she has no shortage of opportunities." Julia said, "The producer must have been driven crazy. Who else could he choose?"

"Look for Terry. She will agree to anything so that her daughter can act in a movie. At the age of 12, she can play the role of a young prostitute in "The Story of a Beautiful Girl"."

"Brooke Shields? She fits the bill perfectly. She's 5 feet 10 (1.77 meters), so she doesn't look like she's 14. The actor needs to be taller. You can also try Jodie Fox.

Jodie Foster, she is already 17 and has also played a child prostitute, so she may be able to accept such a large-scale drama."

"Anyway, it should be decided as soon as possible, preferably today, so as not to delay the filming in Fiji."

Julia called Brooke Shields' mother and manager Terry:

"...Okay, okay, no problem, the director can agree to this request."

"Teri promised her daughter to star in 'The Blue Lagoon', but she asked that the full-frontal nudity scenes be performed by a stunt double."

"The director agreed?"

"Does he have a choice?"

"If we had agreed earlier, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Diane Lane could actually talk to each other."

"Don't think about that. This lunatic may not completely keep his promise. We still have hundreds of actors to look at. The previous ones who played Diane Lane were all scrapped. The height difference between the two is too big."

"Ronald, Ronald, you have to help us. There are hundreds of actor's materials that need to be moved."

Ronald brought in several large and small video tapes and audition resumes.

"The big one is VHS, the small one is BetaMax. You are also in charge of a video recorder and help us find a candidate for the male lead." Margery gave Ronald a job.

"What kind do you need?" Ronald asked.

"First of all, it has to be tall enough. Brooke Shields is 5 feet 10 inches (1.77 meters), so the male actor needs to be about 6 feet. Then he needs to be like a savage, who has left human society since he was a child and lives alone."

"Yes, just like Mount Tai."

"Ah...hey" Ronald yawned greatly. He watched a lot of video tapes, but there were not many that met the requirements. Either they were not tall enough or they were not wild enough."

"Click", look at the newly put tape into the video recorder and see if there will be any surprises.

A man with a very wild temperament appeared on the screen, full of wildness, the lines on his face were like sculptures, and his eyes and nose looked slightly mentally retarded.

"This guy is nice, he looks like a barbarian." Ronald took out the video tape and walked to Julia, "Look at this, Julia."

Julia's eyes also lit up, "It's really good, what's your name?"

Ronald picked up the attached resume, "Sean Penn."

Margery took it over and looked at it, "It's a pity that it's only 5 feet 8 (1.73 meters), so it can't match Brooke Shields."

"Don't you mean we have to start from the characteristics of the character? I think his characteristics are very outstanding." Ronald didn't understand. When Jean was selected, both Julia and Margery supported him.

"This time is different. This is a movie about a boy and girl being stranded on a desert island at sea, living a primitive life, getting married and having children. There is nothing profoundly dramatic, and the movie is about to start shooting in Fiji.

Conformity is the most important thing.”

Ronald nodded. It seems that not every movie casting focuses on personality matching. Think about it, what kind of personality do the actors in "Rock and Roll High School" have? As long as they are cheap enough and good-looking.

"How about this?" Margaery picked another one, and a handsome guy appeared on the screen.

Christopher Atkins, 5 feet 11 inches, is quite tall. A New York actor and model. This is his surfboard commercial.

"He's very handsome, but he seems a little wild enough." Ronald found fault.

"It doesn't matter, let him perm his hair and look like Tarzan." Julia made the final decision and went to discuss it with the director.

Ronald and Margery sat at the table, eating the cookies Julia had stored for overtime and drinking coffee.

"Actually, you're tall enough, so it's quite appropriate to have your hair curled, Ronald. Do you want to go to Fiji to film with Brooke Shields?" Margery was teasing.

"I've promised David da Silva to keep an eye on Gene during the filming of Hot Lunch."

"Then you may have missed an opportunity to become famous."

"Okay, do I really have acting talent?"

Ronald and Margery burst into laughter.

But the name of this "hot lunch" really needs to be changed. Ever since I learned about that movie, it feels weird every time I say this word.
