Chapter 599: Emperor Ming's Silk Sutra

After searching, no internal organs were found, and the monks were shocked and embarrassed.

A hint of hesitation flashed across the face of the leading monk, but he quickly calmed down and said in a deep voice: "I came here in the middle of the night to commit adultery or theft. Although there is no stolen goods, the suspicion is heavy! Both this man and woman are inseparable from the stolen silk book.

, arrest him first and put him in custody. It won’t be too late to deal with it after I report it to the abbot and the prison!”

All the monks agreed in unison. They immediately ignored the angry arguments and struggles between Yang Chaoxi and the thief. They unfolded the ropes and cooperated with each other to tie them up. They picked them up with long sticks and went downstairs.

It's just that the eyes of many monks would glance at the thief from time to time to quench their greed. The monks were heartless and deprived of all four things. Even if they looked at the thief a few more times, they would not care about the thief.

Thoughts. It's just that Tao'er is a woman after all, and the clothes she wears are light and thin. Being carried like a dead pig like today and watching all the way is really embarrassing and makes people's heads and necks turn red with embarrassment.

The monks formed a team and left the Sutra Collection Building, and heard a commotion in the small courtyard. Looking up, they saw a few people standing in the front. They were Abbot Lingche, the abbot of Xiangshan Temple, and Zen Master Lingzhen of the prison. They followed them.

Zen Master Kuzhu of Baima Temple, Master Wu Tianshi of Wu Zhengjie, Yuchiyuan of Hongdaoguan, Master Miaoheng of Qiyun'an, Fanseng Duoji Cairen and other attained enlightenment from both schools of Buddhism.

In addition, there were the wanderers who came to see the excitement, and they gathered around in a noisy manner. Some of them clapped their hands and applauded, and some also made sarcastic comments. All the monks in the temple turned a deaf ear to it.

The monks held lanterns and blocked the Jianghu Rangers to prevent the two accomplices from rushing out to rescue them. The swaying orange light reflected on the faces of Yang Zhaoxi and the thief, which was both dazzling and embarrassing, as if they were parading in the streets.

Prisoners passing by.

When the leading monk saw that the abbot had been alerted by the incident, he immediately stopped all the fellow disciples and ran out alone to salute: "Abbott, Master Lingzhen! Two thieves entered the scripture building at night and stole the treasure.

One scroll. Now the treasure scroll has disappeared, but the bag is left here as a proof!"

Yang Chaoxi wanted to argue, but a large ball of rope was stuffed in her mouth, and she could only make a meaningless "wow" sound.

The Tou'er next to him was much calmer, and turned his head to look at him, with both hatred and ridicule in his eyes, and a gloating smile on his face.

When Zen Master Lingzhen heard this, he immediately frowned and quickly took the pouch and held it in front of Abbot Lingche. The two monks took a closer look at it under the firelight and were immediately shocked!

Zen Master Lingzhen said in a deep voice: "These two thieves are so bold! They actually stole the treasure scroll of my temple! If we don't step up the interrogation, how can we reveal the conspirators? I'm afraid there is little hope of recovering the treasure scroll. I beg the abbot.

Senior brother is determined not to let that accomplice run away with the stolen goods!"

Although Abbot Lingche was frightened, he immediately looked at the monks and said, "Pass on my decree, the temple will be closed tonight and no one will be allowed to leave the temple and go down the mountain."

After that, he looked at the crowd of wanderers and said, "Today, I at Xiangshan Temple welcome guests with courtesy and treat guests with kindness. Unexpectedly, I opened the door and bowed to thieves, and the thieves visited the scripture building and stole the scriptures. If any of you are like these two

As someone who is familiar with the thief, I hope you can give me more advice and don't make a mistake and miss a great future!"

When Zen Master Kuzhu of Baima Temple heard this, he also knew that this matter was important, but he still couldn't believe it: "Junior Brother Lingzhen, I dare to ask you about the treasure scroll you talk about to protect the temple, but that is "The Forty-Two Chapters of Emperor Xiaoming" written by Monk Dao'an?!"

Zen Master Lingzhen smiled bitterly and said: "It is this sutra! Nowadays, Buddhist monks all regard this sutra as the 'first of all sutras'. According to legend, in the seventh year of Yongping in the Han Dynasty, Emperor Liu Zhuang of the Ming Dynasty dreamed of a golden man at night, and a round light appeared on his head, which descended into the palace.

After a while, he fled to the west. After waking up, he asked the officials and found out that he was the Buddha of the West, so he sent Cai Min, a doctor, and Qin Jing, a disciple of the doctor, to go west to seek Dharma.

There happened to be two monks from Tianzhu, Kasyapa Mateng and Zhu Falan, who came east on a white horse carrying scriptures, hoping to spread the Dharma and teach in the east. Cai and Qin traveled to Dayueshi Kingdom and met the two monks and saw Buddhist scriptures.

and the white felt statue of Sakyamuni Buddha, so he was convinced of it. He invited the Venerable to return to Luoyang with him to see Emperor Ming. Emperor Ming was overjoyed and lowered his rank to greet him. Later, he ordered hundreds of workers to build a building three miles north of the Imperial Road outside the West Yongmen Gate in Luoyang.

The monastery was named 'White Horse Temple'.

Kasyapa Mateng and Zhu Falan, in gratitude for Emperor Ming's pious and courteous treatment, extracted the essence of forty-two chapters from the words of the World Honored One and translated them into scriptures. They also painted the image of Sakyamuni in the scriptures and presented them to Emperor Ming.

People at that time called it "The Forty-Two Chapters of Emperor Xiaoming". Emperor Ming then summoned Wang Cizhong, a master calligrapher, to copy the sutra on silk and distribute it to his ministers as a sign of kindness and honor.

However, at the end of the Han Dynasty, the world was divided into three parts, and many scriptures and silks were destroyed in the flames of war. Later, a monk named Dao'an from Jin Dynasty accidentally got a scroll and was overjoyed. After copying it, he compiled the whole story of the scripture into a record and attached it to the scripture.

Later, this sutra was saved from being lost to obscurity. Later generations of monks and laymen simply shortened it into the "Sutra of Forty-Two Chapters" in order to make it easier to read."

This allusion told by Zen Master Lingzhen is well known to many people in Buddhism. After listening to Zen Master Kuzhu, he clasped his hands together and shouted "Good", but there were still doubts in his mind, so he immediately said:

"The manuscript of Monk Dao'an is now hidden in my White Horse Temple. But I don't know the origin of this treasure scroll in your temple?"

At this time, Abbot Lingche suddenly opened his mouth and said: "This volume of "Emperor Xiaoming's Forty-Two Chapters" in my temple is the silk scripture copied by Wang Cizhong, a calligrapher, during the Yongping period of the Han Dynasty. The successive abbots in the temple all called him "Emperor Ming's Silk Book"

through'!"

"I never expected that the Forty-Two Chapter Sutra, a book written by Shimen, would have such twists and turns!"

Wu Tianshi suddenly took a step forward, stroked his beard and said with emotion, "It's just that some Zen masters must have had some misunderstanding. The young knight you caught is the old Taoist's friend. The old Taoist guarantees that he is definitely not someone who steals scriptures at night. Besides, he

For a Taoist cultivator, even if he obtains the Sutra of Forty-Two Chapters, it will be completely useless!"

Wei Chiyuan, the master of Hongdao Temple, also raised his hand and said: "Zen Master Lingche! You and I have known each other for many years. I dare to guarantee my reputation. This Yang Shaoxia has a pure character and is eager for justice. He is definitely not a person who covets the precious treasures of your temple."

"What a joke! If you don't covet the treasure scroll, why are you here in the middle of the night?"

Master Miao Heng sneered when she heard this. She also recognized this Yang Shaoxia. He was the one who helped the fox demon break the formation that day, causing her to have "eyes as charming as silk". At this time, she bumped into Yang Chaoxi again.

Being caught red-handed by Xiangshan Temple certainly doesn't have a good impression.

"That woman is very unfamiliar. Why don't you go ask her? Maybe she is a female thief who sneaked into the temple and stole gold and treasures. Why do you want to question Yang Shaoxia?"

Yuchiyuan never liked such yin and yang people, so he immediately retorted with a choked voice.

Master Miaoheng was furious and wanted to argue with Yuchiyuan with his sword. Unexpectedly, Abbot Lingche was about to take action when he saw the two of them. He stepped out of his wooden clogs and rushed over. With a flick of his robe sleeves, Master Miaoheng was taken away.

The long sword was returned to its sheath: "You two don't need to be angry. Whether Yang Shaoxia is innocent or not will be known later during the interrogation."

Wu Tianshi also held Yu Chiyuan down, raised his eyes slightly and said: "Zen Master Lingche, since the disciples in your temple are suspicious of Yang Shaoxia, they must have searched his body long ago. If the treasure scroll is really found, we will have nothing to say.

Wouldn't it be arbitrary to impose suspicion on Shaoxia Yang just because the treasure scroll is missing and Yang is nearby? As for the lynching interrogation, it is inevitable that the real thief will be caught, let alone the recovery of the stolen treasure scroll.

.”

After hearing this, Abbot Lingche finally frowned and said, "According to Master Wu, our Xiangshan Temple has lost a valuable treasure, so we can't even catch the suspect?"

"This is not what I mean. It's just that since the princes of Henan Prefecture are here today and there are no guards here, why not leave it to the prince to deal with it?"

Wu Tianshi knew that what he and Yu Chiyuan said was not enough to convince the monks of Xiangshan Temple. But if he just sat idly by and allowed Yang Chaoxi to be arrested and interrogated by the monks, he would definitely suffer a lot. If it really hurts his muscles,

Bones, not to mention competing on the stage in the next few days, I'm afraid I will have to stay in bed for several days just to heal my injuries.

Abbot Lingche was noncommittal after hearing this. Zen Master Lingzhen snorted coldly and waved his sleeve, signaling to the leading monk to arrest the two thieves first.

The wanderers who were watching were all talking about it, but they couldn't agree on one thing: some felt that Master Wu Tianshi and Yuchi Yuan were upright, others thought that the two Zen masters from Xiangshan Temple were reasonable, but most of them were people who just watched the excitement and did not think it was a big deal.

Wu Tianshi and Yu Chiyuan looked at each other and understood that this matter could not be forced, so they stopped talking. However, they began to think about how to find an opportunity later to rescue Yang Chaoxi first.

"Wait a minute! Allow me to say something."

At this moment, Henan Yin Xiaojing yawned, separated from everyone, and walked out quickly. She was followed by Xiao Zhan, Fang Qidou, and more than 20 bad guards who were accompanying her. She saw Yang Chaoxi and the thief.

My son was about to be carried away by the monks of Xiangshan Temple, so he immediately spoke to dissuade him,

"Everyone in the street knows the principle of 'catch an adulterer and a couple, and a thief and take the stolen goods'. If the two Zen masters have conclusive evidence, I can call people right now to put these two people in the shackles and jail! But if they are just suspects, then

It must be judged according to the law. You must not go too far and let the heroes of the world underestimate the magnanimity of the two Zen masters!"

After Xiao Jing finished speaking, the expressions of the two monks Lingche and Lingzhen changed slightly:

The "Shendu Martial Arts Conference" has begun, and the heroes from all over the world are not only staring at the "Sword Like Water", but also staring at every move of Xiangshan Temple. The treasure scroll of the temple cannot be lost, but the support of the heroes in the world is also a top priority.

The importance cannot be ignored.

Now that Mr. Yin Xiao from Henan has come to preside over this matter, he will definitely give a proper explanation to Xiangshan Temple. They don't have to endure the controversy and insist on beating the two thieves and asking for the whereabouts of the treasure scroll. They simply hand it over to the public for disposal.

So that hundreds of thousands of pairs of eyes up and down Xiangshan Mountain will all stare at the Gongmen.

As soon as they thought about this, Ling Che and Ling Zhen looked at each other and understood each other's thoughts.

Abbot Lingche immediately put his hands together and saluted: "Amitabha! Sir Xiao, please forgive me! The monks in the temple did not want to disturb your rest, so they took it upon themselves to take the culprit into custody first. I did not intend to use lynching, but I hope you will see clearly!"

However, the things stolen this time are not a trivial matter to the Shimen! I, the Xiangshan Temple, will follow the laws of the Sheng Dynasty and hand over the captured two thieves to the public for interrogation. I only hope that you will solve the case early and recover the lost things. I and the monks in the temple are looking forward to it.

Of!"

"You will definitely live up to the Zen Master's trust!"

Xiao Jing also crossed her hands and returned the salute. Immediately she waved her hand and ordered the bad guard to take Yang Chaoxi and the thief from the hands of the monks, and then turned around and left for the front yard.
