Volume 1: Looking Northwest, Shooting Sirius

On the way back, Chaitino sneaked around the corner to return to the small courtyard. The streets and alleys were full of voices cursing evildoers, and a woman was crying there.

The couple was having a moral affair, when there was a loud bang and the roof leaked. The man was so frightened that he immediately shivered. The doctor treated him for a long time and finally lured the snake out of the hole.

But within a year or so, it won’t be able to take care of itself well.

As soon as he entered the courtyard, Chai Tiannuo heard Chai Man'er's snoring. He couldn't help but shake his head. This girl is simply heartless!

But after listening carefully, the snoring was mixed with faint cries. Chai Tiannuo quietly entered the room and found that Chai Man'er was not asleep, but was covering himself with a quilt and pretending to snore with tears.

Chai Tiannuo felt a slight pain in his heart for a moment, how could this girl be so sensible?

"Don't cry, I'm back."

Gently rubbing the little girl's hair, Chaitino said softly.

"Master, woo woo woo!"

Chai Man'er threw himself into Chai Tiannuo's arms, hugged his neck and cried loudly. After trying to persuade him for a long time, he still couldn't get better. At dawn, he curled up in his arms and fell asleep.

The master and the servant both slept soundly. When they opened their eyes, they saw that the sun was high in the sky and it was almost noon.

After eating steamed cakes worth twenty cents each, and drinking a bowl of watery mutton soup worth fifty cents, Chaitino felt a pain in his body. What he was eating was not rice, but a rattling big boy.

You must open your own calligraphy and painting shop as soon as possible!

"Master, didn't you say you were selling calligraphy before? Why are you selling calligraphy and painting again?"

Chai Man'er asked curiously while packing things in the front room. Chai Tiannuo took a wooden ruler and gestured on the wooden board found in the yard, and said with a smile:

"Calligraphy and painting belong to different families. Not only does your young master write well, but his paintings are also quite lifelike. When we finish setting up our shop, I will show you my skills!"

The sanitation was almost done yesterday, so today we have one purpose, to open this calligraphy and painting shop. If there is only running water but no source, it will definitely lead to death.

Chai Tiannuo was happily looking for a carpenter's shop and wanted to make a plaque and a pair of wood. When he heard that the labor cost was ten taels of silver, he turned around and left. Are people here in the capital crazy?!

Three pieces of rotten wood cost ten taels. Isn’t the silver just used as discus?

I went back to the yard and found a board among the rubbish I collected yesterday. I figured it out for a long time and it was enough. Chaitian Nuo almost jumped out of joy. This was ten taels of silver!

After drawing the lines, with the cooperation of the little girl, they sawed out a pair of long boards and a plaque. The master and servant were speechless for a long time looking at the results.

After a while, Chai Man'er opened his mouth as if he had a toothache:

"Master, what do you think of this board?"

"...I'm the one who says you have high eyes and low hands."

Chaitino scratched his belly and grinned, saying that he was not a good person, he was doing what he was supposed to be, and he had the courage to criticize himself.

"Isn't it shameful to hang out?"

"Well, being embarrassed is also a way to attract customers."

Chaitino scratched his belly again and said with his teeth still hanging.

Now that it has been made and I am reluctant to part with the ten taels of silver, the board and plaque must be hung up, but before hanging up, this word still needs to be written.

While Man'er was grinding ink, Chai Tiannuo took out a piece of regular script and covered it with ink. He thought about it for a moment and decisively wrote on the opposite board:

"The power of the pen is the power of thousands of armies, and the origin of the word is thousands of horse soldiers!"

"Master, aren't we going too far?"

Chai Man'er grinned, and Chai Tiannuo picked up a piece of health information and wiped her mouth. She didn't know what was wrong with her, but she liked to eat ink secretly.

"It doesn't matter. When doing business, you have to add some skills to yourself, otherwise how can others come to your door?"

"Oh, what's the name of our shop?"

The little girl asked curiously. Chai Tiannuo thought about how poor and miserable he was now, and said with a serious face:

"If we gather them all, all the money and silk in the world will be in my hands."

"...Is it okay to call the calligraphy and painting shop this name?"

"Then it's called Guangshengfa, and it's all the way!"

"Master, are you kidding?"

Looking at Man'er's big round eyes, Chaitino was discouraged:

"When you ask, I feel like I'm joking. I've been crazy about money these days. It's really a bit of a demon. Otherwise, think about it, there's nothing else in my mind except money."

Chai Maner put his finger on his chin and thought for a long time, then his eyes suddenly lit up:

"How about Mo Xiangju? This ink is so fragrant that it can last for a long time in your mouth!"

"...When you make money, you have to buy some insect repellent. If you like eating ink so much, it's probably because you have worms in your stomach."

Shaking his head, Chai Tiannuo carefully wrote three characters on the plaque, Moxiangju.

After a while of busy work on hanging the plaque on the board, Chaitino looked up and down and smiled.

The originally crooked wooden board changed drastically after the calligraphy, showing a simple and rustic charm. In the final analysis, it is my own calligraphy that is better.

"Next, we have to prepare sample products. Without seeing the actual products, customers have no way of knowing what someone is capable of."

Chai Tiannuo said with satisfaction, Chai Man'er nodded repeatedly, and secretly dipped some ink with his little finger and stuffed it into his mouth. The taste was really delicious!

"The spring breeze touches thousands of green mountains, and the southern swallows return to thousands of households in spring."

"Man'er, how are you doing with this couple?"

"All right!"

"The springs on Jingquan Mountain are quiet, and the water in Qingshui Pond is clear."

"Man'er, what about this couple?"

"Hiccup, great!"

There was something wrong with the voice. Chai Tiannuo looked up and was speechless. The little girl had half of her face covered in ink and kept burping. This was because she was full of ink!

After being scolded, Chaitino painted two more paintings of landscapes with profound artistic conception. After they were dry, he went out to find a framing shop to frame them. This was something to prop up the facade and should never be spared.

When the shopkeeper of the framing shop unfolded the calligraphy and painting and took a look, his eyes immediately lit up and he praised it repeatedly. He had not seen such an attractive work for a long time.

Chaitino rolled his eyes and said with a smile:

"Shopkeeper Ma, I leave you a calligraphy and painting. Can you waive the mounting fee for me?"

He was saving as much as he could, his family only had so much money, and if he didn't make any money, he would have no choice but to drink from the northwest wind in a few days.

"Mr. Chai, are these all your masterpieces?"

Ma Wenxuan asked in surprise. The two of them had exchanged names before, which made it much easier to talk.

As an old man who has been in the calligraphy and painting circle for decades, Ma Wenxuan's eyesight is not comparable to that of ordinary people. Chai Tiannuo's calligraphy and painting really makes him feel like he is picking up treasures from a vast sea.

"The masterpieces cannot be called masterpieces, they are just games. I opened a calligraphy and painting shop in Dongtou Courtyard, called Mo Xiangju. Shopkeeper Ma can come to me if you need it, and you will definitely get a lot of discounts!"

Chai Tiannuo took the opportunity to attract customers. Ma Wenxuan looked at him and couldn't help grinning. He couldn't believe that such artistic calligraphy and paintings were actually written by this person.

After thinking about it, Ma Wenxuan gently clicked on a landscape painting and said with a chuckle:

"I chose this painting, and the other works will be framed with the best materials, and the framing fee will be free of charge."

"Shopkeeper Ma Renyi!"

Chai Tiannuo cupped his hands and thanked him, his mouth closed with joy. Ma Wenxuan waved:

"But I have a small request. I hope Mr. Chai can add a poem to this painting. Is that possible?"
