4, the road to the cloud

The door to the secret room was opened, and light suddenly poured into the cool and dark room.

The air was filled with the aroma of wood, and what caught my eye were rows of wooden boxes neatly displayed on the shelves.

These wooden boxes are exquisite in shape and style. Each one is tied with a red string. At the other end of the red string is a label with a person's name.

It can be seen that few people come here, and there is a thin layer of dust on the shelves.

These are the Byakugan accumulated by the Hyuga clan from generation to generation.

Hinata Hizashi walked forward slowly, walked to the front of a row of shelves, selected one from the many wooden boxes, carefully looked at the name tag on it, and handed it to Zhen.

Zhen took it with both hands and looked at it. The name tag read "Hinata Shinsuke".

"Hyuga Shinsuke, he had outstanding military exploits during the Second Ninja World War. His Byakugan helped us achieve many victories on the battlefield of the Kingdom of Wind. Unfortunately, he was injured by the enemy's puppet master in one battle.

He was poisoned, and when he was sent back to the village, the poison had penetrated into his bones, and even Tsunade-sama was unable to recover." Hyuga Hizashi told the story and ending of this senior of the Hyuga family.

When I really opened the wooden box, I found a glass container filled with transparent liquid. There was also a sealing talisman attached to the bottle, and a pair of white eyeballs floating in it.

These eyes were pale and hollow, without any life in them. After staring at them for a long time, I felt inexplicably tingling in my heart.

At this time, Hinata Hizashi handed over another wooden box, and put the box in his hand back to its original place.

The name tag of this box reads "Hyuga Hideya".

"Hyuga Hideya was once an extremely outstanding ninja in the clan. He was the bodyguard of Lord Sandaime. He participated in many battles with Lord Hokage. As a result, he was left with injuries all over his body. He died of illness four years ago.

At the funeral, Hokage-sama came to express his condolences in person." Hizashi continued to tell the story of the owner of this eye, as if it were a treasure from his family.

"These two pairs of eyes are suitable for you. We will inform you after the tribe and the hospital have negotiated and confirmed. Don't forget to pay homage to them in front of the memorial monument."

Zhen Wenyan nodded in response: "Write it down."

Hizashi added: "If your deeds on the front line were known to the spirits of these two seniors in heaven, they would be very happy to entrust their eyes to you."

Zhenze said: "It is my honor to inherit the eyes of my senior."

Hizashi seemed to be very satisfied with what he said and said: "The Byakugan stored here, their owners were once the pillars of the village and the family. I hope you will not let down their legacy in the future."

His true eyes swept across the dark secret room and asked: "Will Master Hizashi's Byakugan be placed here in the future?"

Hizashi paused slightly and said calmly: "It depends on whether I die on the battlefield or at home."

If a member of the family dies on the battlefield, the eyes will be destroyed by the Caged Bird Seal. Only if the family dies at home can the eyes be removed.

The white eyes displayed here were all removed by the Zong family themselves.

Their stories may sound very heroic, but in my heart I don't really have much respect for them, I just feel sad.

It is really ironic that these people who had made great contributions to Konoha and sacrificed their lives had to have their eyes dug out by their tribe before they died and put them in a box that may never see the light of day.

In this secret room, in addition to the shelves displaying wooden boxes, there is also a table at the very end, with less than ten wooden boxes placed on it.

"Those are the eyes of the clan." Hizashi seemed to notice Zhen's sight and said.

No wonder it is so special. Together with the wooden boxes placed on the shelves, it looks like a monarch who rules his subjects.

Zhen secretly thought to himself. After examining it for a moment, he suddenly asked Hizashi: "Master Hizashi, is there any difference between the clan's eyes and ours when we separate?"

His question was met with only silence. Hinata Hizashi did not answer him immediately. He was also looking at the wooden boxes on the table.

Even if it becomes an ownerless thing, the clan family must still take precedence over the branch families.

"The Byakugan in this room is no different if it's not on the person." Hizashi said calmly.

What makes them different is the Caged Bird Curse Seal. The ability of the person who has been cursed will be restricted. This is also one of the methods used by the clan to prevent the branch family from becoming stronger than themselves.

Walking out of this dark secret room, the sunlight outside became slightly dazzling.

Zhen slightly narrowed his eyes and followed Hizashi. There was a Hyuga tribesman waiting at the door. When he saw the two people coming out, he took the initiative to greet Hizashi.

"Hizashi-sama."

I remembered this person in my true memory, a jounin in the clan, but I didn't expect him to be the one in charge of this secret room.

"If there are no accidents, the operation will start in about a week. During this time, you don't have to worry about anything or think too much."

After leaving the secret room, Hizashi said to Zhen: "If you always think wildly, your emotions will affect the people around you who care about you."

These words were meant to point him in the right direction. It was natural to hear that, and he immediately expressed his stance: "I understand, Hizashi-sama. I'd like to trouble you about today's matter."

Hizashi nodded and said: "It doesn't matter, it's not an excessive request. Outsiders can't enter the room, so there aren't so many restrictions on our family members."

"In addition, the information you brought back on the front line is of great significance to our village. Lord Hokage has specially commended you. Lord Hizu will take you to meet Lord Hokage after the operation."

"That's not my fault alone."

"I understand, and Hokage-sama also understands that the sacrificed companions are heroes, and the living companions are more precious. This is what Hokage-sama said, please bear in mind."

"take note of it."

This was said very well. If I had actually heard it before, I would probably be moved to death.

The Third Ninja World War is still going on. The success of the Kannabi Bridge Operation has caused logistical problems for the Iwa Ninjas, shattering their desire to fight in depth with Konoha, and also causing them to be exhausted from the continuous wars.

Konoha brought a little respite.

But it is just a chance to breathe. Konoha is already stretched thin at the moment. All parties are overwhelmed with battlefields, it is difficult to take care of the beginning and the end, and the financial collapse depends entirely on the national support.

Therefore, every victory is crucial, and the consequences of every defeat are extremely cruel.

This is also the reason why Namikaze Minato's reputation in Konoha now surpasses that of the Sannin. He is the hero who saved Konoha and led the village to victory again and again when the village was in such a difficult situation, just like clearing the clouds and seeing the sun.

Konoha also needs such a hero now.

After Hizashi left, Zhen stood there and looked across the courtyard and into the closed secret room from a distance.

It's a pity that a hero like Minato can save the village, but he can't save himself.

I really need to find another way out, find a road that no one has traveled.
