392 Heroic Confrontation

In order to carry out tactics of luring the enemy deep into the country and making the little devils believe that what they encountered was the main combat force of the Eighth Route Army defending Zhangjiazhuang Road.

This 500-strong combat team, composed of the first company and more than 300 militia comrades, is quite eye-catching in terms of firepower configuration.

There are five heavy machine guns.

Each squad in the team was equipped with a light machine gun and a grenade launcher, and they set off along the Zhangjiazhuang route.

On the other hand, the Ishii Regiment, after receiving the battle situation in Nishimura, led by Ishii Haraichi, quickly approached Zhangjiazhuang.

Looking down from a God's perspective, at this time, the two teams were moving forward on the mountain road, marching in opposite directions, at a turning point at the foot of the mountain that bypassed the mountain. The two teams were less than 500 meters apart, and they would soon collide.

.

This is a large turn, almost a large triangle. The sight of both sides is cut off, and no one can see the other.

The first to start the battle were the leading reconnaissance troops from both sides.

It was completely like an encounter. Just at the turn of the mountain forest, the Eighth Route Army scouts and the Japanese scouts encountered each other, and the two sides immediately started fighting.

On the independent regiment's side, the soldiers immediately displayed fierce firepower. Even the reconnaissance squad was equipped with two light machine guns and even two submachine guns.

This kind of reconnaissance firepower was completely unexpected by the little devil.

After the two sides fought for a while, under the fierce firepower of the Eighth Route Army scouts, the entire Japanese reconnaissance team of more than a dozen people was killed.

As the main force of both sides, the Ishii regiment, which was about 300 meters away from the reconnaissance force, only heard intensive gunfire from the top of the mountain, and soon there was no movement, and then no reconnaissance force returned.

Ishiihara secretly had a bad idea and immediately ordered to send vanguard troops to support the reconnaissance team.

The first company and the militia team directly launched an offensive posture. While the Japs' leading reconnaissance unit was killed by their own scouts and soldiers, the first company commander led the soldiers to quickly rush to the bend of the mountain.

"Third platoon leader, lead the militia soldiers to block the turning point. First platoon leader and second platoon leader, follow me into the mountains and forests. First, control the commanding heights."

The first company commander gave the order and took the lead towards the top of the slope.

"Yes!"

Several platoon leaders responded and took action one after another.

This is also part of the plan. According to the battle plan, everyone placed the encounter location at the bend of the mountain. In addition, the top edge of the slope is an excellent reverse slope.

In Kong Jie's words: "The team we use to lure the enemy deep will have to fight with the Japanese for at least a while. The greater the loss the little Japanese will suffer, the less likely the little Japanese will give up easily. If you turn around after meeting,

If we just run away, the Japanese will become suspicious and may abandon our wolf-baiting troops and continue marching towards Zhangjiazhuang."

Regarding the application of anti-slope tactics, the cadres of the independent regiment are no strangers. Kong Jie specifically taught this tactic in the tactical analysis course.

The first company commander is naturally no exception.

After quickly occupying the top of the mountain, the first company commander immediately issued an order: "Fifth squad leader, you take three comrades to occupy the left wing, middle section, and right wing of the top. As a forward observation post, keep an eye on the movements of the Japanese troops down the hillside at all times. If the Japanese launch an attack, immediately

Pass the message over and we have to prepare for a counterattack. If the Japanese are preparing artillery fortifications, we have to retreat to the blind corner of the reverse slope to avoid the Japanese artillery fire."

This is a common application of reverse bevel, close combat and long-distance defense.

"Yes!" The fifth squad leader responded quickly.

On the right side of the turn at the foot of the mountain, the militia soldiers, under the command of the three platoon leaders, quickly clung to the mountain. With the help of advance and earth slope bunkers, they built light and heavy machine gun fortifications and aimed their guns at the area at the turn, forming a

Crossfire, beware of enemy attacks at any time.

This turning terrain is excellent for the Eighth Route Army soldiers.

The top of the hillside can be used as a rough reverse slope, and the corners of the mountain can also be used well to allow the third platoon and militia soldiers to avoid Japanese artillery fire.

The Japanese wanted to launch an attack and break through the defense at the turn. On the one hand, they had to endure the firepower of the first and second platoons on the top of the hillside. On the other hand, after passing the turn, they had to face direct fire from the third platoon and the militia soldiers.<

Soon, the Ishii Regiment's exploratory attack began. After the Japs No. 100 of the vanguard arrived, they tried to launch an attack on the top of the slope in an attempt to seize the commanding heights on the top of the slope.

"Company commander, the Japs' vanguard troops are here, about a hundred of them!"

As a forward observation post, the fifth squad leader at the right end of the slope shouted to the first company commander in the safe area on the reverse slope.

"Where is the main follow-up force of the Japanese army? Has the artillery fire been established?" asked the first company commander.

The fifth squad leader shook his head.

"It seems to be a tentative attack by the little devil."

The first company commander no longer hesitated and called to the team behind him: "Come on!"

The two platoons quickly arrived at the top of the slope from the safe area on the back side of the reverse slope. The company commander crawled behind the top of the slope and observed the situation of the main force of the Ishii Regiment with a telescope, and then looked at what was happening at the foot of the mountain.

The Japanese who keep moving upward are looming due to the cover of the trees.

"One hundred meters."

"Ninety meters."

"Eighty meters."

……

The first company commander estimated the distance between the touched Japanese troops and the position on the top of the slope. He turned around and ordered: "Continuing to hide behind the bunker on the top of the slope will not be conducive to counterattack. Let's go out in advance and wait for the Japanese with the help of the woods on the top of the slope.

Put it within thirty meters and then fight."

"Yes!" the two platoon leaders responded in unison.

Time passed bit by bit, and the company commander led two platoons of soldiers to cross the top of the slope in advance and temporarily hid behind some tree trunks at the top of the slope.

50 meters.

40 meters.

30 meters...

"Hit!"

A continuous fire counterattack began, and the condescending fire points crackled down.

Once here, the advantage of occupying the absolute terrain is immediately reflected.

One side was covered by condescending firepower, mixed with the roar of two heavy machine guns and a dozen light machine guns.

The other side is fighting with their heads up, and they have to pay attention at any time to see if they miss the mark at the foot of the mountain. They are even more unfamiliar with the situation in this mountain forest.

Bullets fell like raindrops, and the Japanese who were moving in couldn't even figure out where the firepower broke out.

During the tentative confrontation, the Japanese army knew nothing about the company lurking on the top of the mountain.

After leaving thirty or forty corpses behind, the Japanese troops who made the first tentative attack were repulsed by the firepower of a company.

As soon as the Japanese retreated, the fifth squad leader, who was still serving as an observation post at the commanding heights of the mountain, quickly shouted: "Company commander, retreat quickly, the Japanese are preparing to use grenades."

"Withdraw!"

The first company commander issued the order without hesitation, and even the guns and ammunition from dozens of Japanese corpses that fell more than ten meters away were not available in time.

The soldiers withdraw their front feet to the back of the reverse slope.

Then the area where the previous battle was fought was covered by Japanese artillery fire.

After the Japanese who were the first to attack retreated from the top of the slope, the seven or eight grenades placed below them opened fire at the same time, bombarding the area where a company of soldiers had originally been.

On the mountain road.

Seven or eight hundred meters away, Japanese commander Ishii Haraichi was using a telescope to explore the combat situation on the top of the slope.

The chief of staff on the side said: "Your Excellency, Captain, the firepower of this Eighth Route Army is not weak! There are at least two heavy machine guns set up on the top of the slope, and the probing attack of the vanguard was easily repelled by them."

Ishiihara nodded and said with a smile: "Not only is the firepower configuration not weak, the opponent's commander is also very organized. Did you see the top of the slope? It was perfectly used by this group of Eighth Route Army to defend at close range.

After repelling the attack of our vanguard, we immediately hid behind the top of the slope and used the reverse slope to avoid the artillery bombardment of the vanguard."

"With such a defensive method, when the disparity in strength is not large, the attacking party will be very passive."

The chief of staff focused his eyes on the bend of the mountain in the distance, thought for a while, and suggested: "Unfortunately, the Eighth Route Army has been fooled and placed its main force in the direction of West Village. The terrain in front of us is indeed conducive to the Eighth Route Army's defense."

"But as long as our troops occupy the top of the slope, the Eighth Route Army's defense will be broken. Or if our troops occupy the back side of the mountain turn, we can also threaten the Eighth Route Army in the slope top area from both sides at the same time, and even besiege this group of Eighth Route Army in the hilltop area.

The top of the slope."

Ishiihara said: "For this reason, pass on the order and continue to increase troops to the vanguard. Attack on both sides at the top of the slope and at the turning point at the same time, breaking through the Eighth Route Army's defense in one fell swoop."

"Hi!"

After the messenger went to convey the order, Ishiihara thought for a moment and then ordered: "Inform the artillery squadron to build artillery fortifications on the spot and be ready for artillery support at any time."

"Hi!"

After Ishii Haraichi's order was issued, the Japanese offensive launched again. This time it was a two-sided offensive. One Japanese army attacked the top of the slope area, and the other Japanese army attempted to quickly break through the big turn of the mountain.

The back side of the slope top.

The fifth squad leader divided the Japanese troops into two groups and passed the news to the first company commander in the safe area that they were preparing to launch a storm.

The platoon leader said: "Company commander, it seems that the little devil is getting impatient and is preparing to take down our position at once."

The first company commander said: "The battalion commander told us during the operation that we cannot go head-to-head with the Japanese. The real decisive battle is in the Aiya area!"

"In this way, let's bite the bullet and fight again. After repelling the Japanese attack, we will evacuate immediately."

"Yes!"

The exchange of firepower between the two sides soon started again.

This time, the little devil was more thoughtful. Before the Japanese advance troops reached the top of the slope, they used grenades to bombard the top of the slope for a while.

Fortunately, the fifth squad leader's observation was keen enough, and the soldiers did not blindly leave the back side of the slope.

With the help of the anti-slope defense, we finally avoided the Japanese bombardment.

But in this way, it is impossible to imagine the method of deploying defense fortifications on the top of the slope in an orderly manner like when we repelled the Japanese attack for the first time.

The first company commander said: "The regiment commander said that the application of this tactic lies in the word 'flexible'. Sometimes it is used in the right direction, and sometimes it is used in the opposite direction, whatever is appropriate."

"In this way, let's put more Japs in this time, and simply place them within thirty meters of the top of the slope, and then suddenly launch a counterattack to push back the Japs' attack."

"A platoon leader distributes light and heavy machine gun firepower in advance to provide fire cover for counterattacks at any time."

"Yes!" the platoon leader responded.

The first company commander continued to order: "Second squad leader, command our 50 small artillery well. It's up to you whether you can destroy the Japanese grenades that threaten our light and heavy machine guns."

"Yes, company commander, please rest assured and promise to complete the mission." The second squad leader responded.

Everything was ready, and the soldiers hid quietly on the back side of the slope, waiting for the battle to break out in silence.

On the other side of the reverse slope, the sound of the Japanese trampling dead branches and leaves through the forest could be heard faintly, and the soldiers subconsciously tightened their guns.

The fifth squad leader pressed his whole ear against the rock wall at the top of the slope, closed his eyes, and calculated the distance of the Japanese based on experience, "Fifty meters, forty-five meters, forty meters, thirty meters... Company commander..."

"Hit——"

The first company commander no longer hesitated and fired the first shot while emerging from the top of the slope.

Three heavy machine guns and a dozen light machine guns that had been prepared long ago quickly emerged from different areas on the top of the slope, forming a crossfire and attacking condescendingly at the Japanese vanguard less than thirty meters away.

After the light and heavy machine gun fire started rapidly, the first company commander no longer hesitated, "Blow the charge horn, comrades, kill me——"

At this time, a counterattack must be carried out, otherwise the Japanese will use the forest on the top of the slope as a bunker. Once they get too close and throw a grenade at them, they will pose a huge threat to the soldiers hiding on the top of the slope.
Once the Japs in the lead took the opportunity to break through the position on the top of the slope, the main force of the Japanese army that followed quickly came up. Not only would the position on the top of the slope be lost, but even the company commander and the militia soldiers on the back side of the mountain corner would probably be doomed.
Dudududududududududu——

The bugler appeared on the left wing of the top of the slope, stepping on the rocks on the top of the slope, standing tall and straight, holding the bugle tightly with both hands, puffing up his cheeks and blowing the charge horn loudly.

This is the "war drum" belonging to the soldiers of the Eighth Route Army. As the drum beats, the soldiers will move forward bravely without fear.

The momentum of a tiger descending a mountain, the charge that is not afraid of death.

Not only the leading Japanese offensive troops who were suddenly attacked by a counterattack, but also the Japanese chief of staff who was observing the battle situation at the top of the slope with a telescope at the bottom of the mountain road couldn't help but feel a chill in their hearts.

Such an enemy is indeed difficult.

The timing of this countercharge was chosen just right.

Such a brave warrior has rarely been seen in other troops except the imperial warriors.

As for the national army, it’s not that there are no such teams, it’s just that they are too rare.

As the national army was defeated again and again on the frontal battlefield, combat troops like this became increasingly rare.

"Your Excellency, Captain, this Eighth Route Army seems to be a regular army of the independent regiment without a doubt!"

Ishii Haraichi agreed with this, "If the independent regiments in the Battle of Kuranangling were all teams like Poding, the Sakata Regiment would have been defeated. Now it seems that it may not be an accident."

Then, the battle started at the turn of the mountain. As soon as the Japanese charge troops passed the turn, they were immediately attacked by the firepower of the three platoons and militia soldiers clinging to the rock wall. In addition to the two heavy machine guns, they were also attacked by multiple light machine guns.

With direct fire, the Japs who had just emerged were swept away, and the Japs behind them hurriedly retreated...
