622 The First Independent Anti-Japanese Detachment of Northwestern Shanxi

 Independent regiment base area.

With the development of the economy and the resettlement of foreign victims, the scale of the base area is getting larger and larger.

Some guerrilla zones that were originally on the periphery of the independent regiment's base areas were soon developed into substantial Eighth Route Army anti-Japanese base areas.

On the one hand, the news that the migrant workers' regiment has been rumored to have become the military arm of the Eighth Route Army is still brewing.

As the situation became more dramatic, not only the Japanese army, but also some of the surrounding Shanxi-Sui army believed that the independent regiment was rapidly expanding.

On the other hand, the independent group was guided by the manual "Principles and Specific Methods for Registration and Resettlement of Foreign Disaster Victims in Base Areas" written by Kong Jie himself.

In addition, Dong San, Xu Qingnian, and Li Wenjie firmly believe in the demographic dividend proposed by Kong Jie.

Receiving disaster victims is another responsibility that the Eighth Route Army should bear for the people.

Therefore, the Independence Regiment Base Area has been receiving evacuated victims one after another.

Some of them escaped from northern Henan in John's caravan traveling along the Yellow River; some escaped from southern Hebei; and some were simply from Shanxi.

Since mid-July.

Droughts continue to spread in various provinces, especially in Henan, and then spread to Hebei, Shandong, Shanxi, Shaanxi, northern Hubei and northern AH.

In these severely affected areas, the tragedy of mourning and starving people everywhere has long been unbearable to see.

The Eighth Route Army headquarters sent people to various places to investigate the local disasters. When the soldiers sent to investigate returned to report the situation, their eyes were full of tears. The horror they witnessed with their own eyes almost left them speechless.

Naturally, the Japanese invaders in the occupied areas did not care about the life and death of the Chinese victims.

In order to continue the military process of aggression and expansion, the Japanese even increased taxes and squeezed the people, making it increasingly difficult for the people to survive under the disaster.

What's more, the little devil who did everything possible turned out to be the worst case scenario that Kong Jie had ever guessed.

After refugees appeared in counties, villages and towns, the Japanese did not assume the responsibilities of the taxation government. Instead, they directly drove these victims and refugees toward the Eighth Route Army base areas in the mountainous areas.

These inhumane little devils did not resettle the refugees, but just watched them starve to death or die of illness.

There are actually some kiddos who are crazy enough to make a fuss about these refugees, and suggest that when the refugees are driven to the Eighth Route Army base area, some Japanese troops should be disguised in the refugee ranks to lure the Eighth Route Army to show up and then take the opportunity to make a sneak attack.

For this reason, some Eighth Route Army units that focused on resettling and rescuing refugees around the base of Taihang did suffer a lot.

Soon after, the Eighth Route Army headquarters issued work instructions to each regiment stating:

Each regiment should make every effort to resettle refugees and rescue the people based on the economic conditions of their respective base areas.

Take the initiative and actively stand up and shoulder the responsibilities that people's soldiers should shoulder when the people are in danger.

After the headquarters order was issued, the regiments in the Taihang base area took action one after another.

By the end of July, in less than half a month, the entire Taihang base had received nearly 30,000 refugees.

Among the Eighth Route Army regiments in the Taihang base area, Kong Jie's independent regiment received the largest number of refugees, resettled them the most properly, and started accepting refugees the earliest.

A total of nearly 10,000 refugees have been accepted and resettled.

Leng was able to work together to solve one-third of the disaster victims' difficulties in food, accommodation, etc. in the entire Taihang base area.

In addition, Kong Jie took the lead in proposing and implementing the policy of elite troops in the independent regiment.

The so-called elite troops do not mean that we should not develop troops, but that we should strengthen training, refine the original troops, and enhance combat effectiveness.

Reduce the command structure and increase the number of company members.

After a large number of disaster victims rushed to the independent regiment base area.

Kong Jie originally had no intention of recruiting new soldiers and continuing to expand his army.

However, there are many young people among these refugees who are indeed good candidates for joining the army, and everyone is grateful for the independent regiment's treatment of the victims, so they volunteer, actively, and even beg and clamor to join the army.

Captain Kong had no choice but to recruit some on a merit-based basis.

In addition, the team of migrant workers is becoming increasingly large.

Although there are a large number of refugees and members of the migrant workers' corps in the entire Independence Regiment base area, who are not considered military combatants, the total number of relevant members in the entire Independence Regiment base area has already exceeded the 10,000 mark.

In just over a year, the independent regiment's base area has expanded, developed, enriched, and built on a scale that has already exceeded Kong Jie's expectations.

Three veteran battalion commanders, including Wang Leihu, Shen Quan, and Wang Huaibao, have approached Kong Jie many times to express their opinions.

Commander, if you still don’t think of something, even though we are a battalion commander, we are still doing the work of a regiment leader and commanding a regiment!

The original five battalions of the Independent Regiment were simply not enough.

Commander Kong is worried about this and is thinking about whether to continue to expand a few battalions.

But if we continue to expand like this, if a regiment leader has to manage so many battalions, he will definitely be extremely busy, and his command efficiency will not be high.

Kong Jie promptly and honestly reported to the brigade and headquarters, explaining his difficulties.

……

That's it, until early August.

A meeting was held at the Eighth Route Army headquarters.

At the meeting, leaders spoke one after another.

The core theme of the meeting is centered around the future development direction of the independent group.

Some cadres said that the current size of the Independent Regiment and its base areas has long exceeded the size of a regiment-level combat unit.

If this continues, it will become bloated, and adjustments must be made to the organization.

"According to the old tradition of our Eighth Route Army, if a regiment develops too fast and such a situation occurs, it can be dismantled and formed into multiple regiments to avoid the problem of reduced command strength."

But then another cadre said: "Although the scale of the Independent Regiment is large, Kong Jie has always managed it very well. The entire base area seems to be developing independently, but in fact it is connected as a whole. Especially now that the Independent Regiment is still under resettlement

Tens of thousands of refugees have been dispersed at this moment, which may be counterproductive once it affects the original operating model of the independent group."

In the end, the brigade commander didn't say much, but his words carried a lot of weight when he did speak: "In this case, I suggest you take a bold new step."

"It is true that existing independent groups can be divided into multiple groups."

"But the unified command and the old operating model remain unchanged, and are still under the command of Kong Jie's leadership team."

When the brigade commander spoke this way, all the cadres at the meeting nodded and quickly reached a consensus.

Over the past year or so, everyone has watched the development of the independent group, and Kong Jie’s performance has always been amazing.

Finally, the headquarters issued a decision, and the cadres all said that this arrangement for the subsequent development of the independent regiment was perfect!

Five days.

Headquarters appointment information and documents are conveyed to the independent regiment headquarters via the brigade headquarters.

The general content is that the headquarters decided after discussion at the meeting to adjust and divide the original regiment of the independent regiment into four nine-company A-type regiments, namely the independent first regiment, the independent second regiment, the independent third regiment, and the independent fourth regiment.

Among them, Wang Leihu, the former commander of the First Battalion of the Independent Regiment, was appointed as the commander of the Second Independent Regiment.

Shen Quan, former commander of the Second Battalion of the Independent Regiment, was appointed commander of the Third Independent Regiment.

Wang Huaibao, former commander of the third battalion of the Independent Regiment, was appointed commander of the fourth independent regiment.

The first independent anti-Japanese anti-Japanese detachment of the North Shanxi Eighth Route Army was composed of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th independent regiments.

Kong Jie, the former leader of the Independent Regiment, was appointed as the detachment leader and also served as the leader of the First Independent Regiment.

Comrade Li Wenjie, the former acting political commissar of the Independent Regiment, serves as the political commissar of the detachment and concurrently serves as the political commissar of the First Independent Regiment.…………

Regiment Headquarters.

Kong Jie received the headquarters appointment document handed over by the correspondent, which contained a specific list of personnel appointments.

The list does not include all cadres and positions. Obviously, there is still a large part of the appointment space decided by Kong Jie.

After this expansion, many of the original cadres of the Independent Group have made job adjustments.

Acting political commissar Li Wenjie was promoted to full position.

Three veteran battalion commanders including Shen Quan were appointed regiment leaders.

Lei Dasheng, the former commander of the fourth battalion, became the commander of the first battalion of the independent regiment.

Du Aiguo, the former commander of the fifth battalion, was appointed commander of the second battalion of the first independent regiment.

Zhu Wu, the former deputy commander of the Fourth Battalion, was appointed as the commander of the Third Battalion of the First Independent Regiment.

As for the battalion commanders of the second, third and fourth regiments.

They are all served by the original members of the old camp such as Shen Quan, Wang Leihu, and Wang Huaibao.

Kong Jie was overjoyed after seeing this. This was basically equivalent to the old staffing of the Independent Regiment remaining unchanged.

But it gave Kong Jie more generous and flexible organizational rights.

The most important thing is that Kong Jie originally had a headache that the five battalions of the independent regiment were not enough, and the teams in each battalion were too bloated.

It's better now, the headquarters directly helped him solve it.

"The first independent anti-Japanese detachment of the Eighth Route Army of Northwestern Shanxi!"

"Listen, how generous!"

At the regiment headquarters, the battalion commanders and company commanders with faces full of joy came to have a meeting and accepted the appointment from the headquarters, Kong Jie said with a smile.

Regarding the appointment at the headquarters, all the cadres readily accepted it.

Basically, everyone’s positions have been raised one level.

As for Lei Dasheng and Du Aiguo, whose positions have not changed, the headquarters also took into account their military exploits and seniority and adjusted them to the first and second battalion commanders of the Independent Regiment.

Once the detachment continues to expand, the leaders of the fifth regiment and the sixth regiment will not leave.

In a cheerful atmosphere, the cadres were joking.

First Battalion Commander Wang Leihu looked at the headquarters appointment list and rubbed his eyes several times.

Shen Quan on the side joked: "Why, Lei Hu, you suddenly became the leader of the regiment, and you still feel a little unbelievable and feel dazzled?"

Wang Leihu said: "Ah, I was thinking, Lao Shen, why did you become the leader of the regiment?"

Chen Quan scolded: "Lei Hu, I don't understand what you are saying. When you were the squad leader, I was also the squad leader. When you were the platoon leader, I was also the platoon leader. When you become the battalion commander, we are still the battalion commander." Commander, why are you allowed to be the leader and I can’t be the leader?"

The two stared at each other with big eyes and small eyes, and the cadres couldn't help but laugh.

Kong Jie smiled and scolded: "Yes, when we were battalion commanders, we bickered and had no future. Now that we are regimental commanders, they are still no future. It's really embarrassing."

"Captain!"

"Captain!"

Kong Jie spoke, and Shen Quan and Wang Leihu smiled and shouted.

"No, now we are all group leaders, you might as well just call me Lao Kongde!" Kong Jie said.

Chen Quan and Wang Leihu were so frightened that they shook their heads quickly.

Chen Quan said: "How can you, leader, you will always be our leader!"

"That's right, I won't admit it if you leave others alone!" Wang Leihu said.

Wang Huaibao, the leader of the third regiment, laughed and said: "That's right, our regiment leader also serves as the detachment leader! Now our independent regiment is a legitimate anti-Japanese detachment."

"It's strange to say that the size and number of our original five battalions have not changed at all, but just because we were reorganized into these four regiments, we suddenly felt in our hearts that we would be more confident to fight against the Japs again. "...
