Chapter 599 Parseltongue

Just after listening to Snape's report, Dumbledore was pacing back and forth in the study.

Agreeing to Lockhart's proposal to organize a dueling club seemed to have yielded far more than he expected. Even he himself did not expect that Harry was actually a parselmouth.

In Dumbledore's memory, there had never been a Parselmouth in the Potter family for generations, and Harry's abilities were obviously not inherited from his family.

When Dumbledore saw young Harry, he realized that the magic scar on his forehead was unusual.

Over the years, Dumbledore had been speculating about what that scar meant.

Now we finally have some results.

Perhaps, that lightning scar gave Harry some very unusual connection with Voldemort.

Although it is still just speculation, Dumbledore believes that Voldemort most likely transferred part of his soul to Harry on the night he failed to murder Harry, giving Harry the ability to talk to snakes.

Otherwise, the Sorting Hat would not think that Harry is suitable for Slytherin House and that Slytherin House can help him achieve glory.

You know, no one in the Potter family was sorted into Slytherin House.

If he hadn't discovered that Harry was a Parseltongue, he wouldn't even have made such a bold assumption.

Ever since he learned that Voldemort had created Horcruxes, Dumbledore had been secretly studying how to destroy them.

Entrusting your soul to a living creature is undoubtedly a very risky approach. With Voldemort's caution, he obviously would not risk his own life.

So it could only be an accident.

However, the fact that Harry is a Parseltongue is good news for now.

Slytherin's Chamber of Secrets requires a Parselmouth to open. If the prisoner cannot be found until the end, Harry will have to rely on Harry to open the Chamber of Secrets and eliminate the threat of the Basilisk to the teachers and students of Hogwarts.

Of course, Dumbledore didn't want to do that unless he had to. It was obviously not a good thing to let enemies hiding in the dark linger in Hogwarts Academy.

If the other party is not found out, no one knows what will happen, and the so-called heir of Slytherin may very well be Voldemort's Horcrux.

To completely kill Voldemort, all of Voldemort's Horcruxes need to be destroyed. Dumbledore is not going to give up this good opportunity.

After all, a person's soul is not a cake and cannot be cut at will. Once it is cut too much, the soul will become very unstable and nothing will happen to anyone.

Dumbledore believed that the number of Horcruxes created by Voldemort should be very limited, and he could destroy them one by one to reduce Harry's pressure as much as possible.

A scream suddenly sounded in the principal's office, interrupting Dumbledore's thoughts, and a fireball rose from the gilded perch not far behind the door.

"It finally begins!"

Dumbledore walked up to the perch, looked at the little chick poking its head out of the ashes, and showed a happy smile.

"Grow up quickly, I will need your help soon." Dumbledore stretched out his hands to pick up the baby bird, sat down behind the table, took out the food prepared in advance, and gave it to the baby bird

Feed it some food to help it regain some strength as soon as possible.

He placed the little chick in a warm nest, glanced at the hourglass on the table, and prepared to ask the house elf to come over and take care of the young Fawkes.

When Dumbledore looked away, he inadvertently glanced at a glass ball in the corner.

"This seems to be..."

Dumbledore reached out and picked up the hot glass ball and pinched it. He carefully looked at the slightly rough object in front of him. He remembered that this object seemed to have been brought by Hagrid last time and was said to be made by Albert Anderson.

The prop seems to be called...a detection ball, which can detect dark creatures.

"He is really a guy who cannot be underestimated." Dumbledore felt the temperature coming from the detection ball and fell into a brief memory.

It was learned from Hagrid that Mr. Anderson had speculated that the monster in the secret room was most likely the legendary basilisk.

Maybe Mr. Anderson has also found the approximate location of the secret room.

Dumbledore remembered that the last time Albert led him to find the diadem, he couldn't help but reveal the danger, and was deeply impressed by it. Maybe this time he would lead him to find the Chamber of Secrets.

Most geniuses are usually ambitious, just like himself in the past. Now Dumbledore only hopes that his old friends can guide Albert to the right path.

As for whether the basilisk would pose a threat to Albert, Dumbledore was not worried. He knew that Albert was very cautious and could not be unprepared when he knew there was a basilisk.

If Albert knew what Dumbledore was thinking, he would definitely smear him in the face with spittle.

At this moment, Albert was testing the approximate effective detection range of the detection ball with Hagrid. The results were not satisfactory. The detectable range was too wide, at least 500 feet.

If it is not used in a school, the wider the scope, the better. But if it is used in a school, the scope is too wide and it will cover the entire school, which is meaningless.

"You don't seem satisfied?"

Hagrid threw the almost frozen Grindylow to the fireplace to warm up, took the copper kettle from the stove, and made Albert a cup of hot tea.

"I found that the detection ball has a lot of shortcomings when used in the castle." Albert put the hot detection ball aside, picked up the tea cup and took a sip, and said a little depressed, "Maybe, I should use

It’s improved a little bit.”

"It would be best to mark or point out the location of the dark creatures." Hagrid suggested, "It would be better if it could be completed before the Christmas holidays."

"The difficulty may be a bit high." Albert looked sideways at Hagrid and asked, "You don't want to use this thing to find hidden monsters, do you?"

"No way?" Hagrid also concealed his thoughts.

"I suggest you give up." Albert was not optimistic about Hagrid's idea.

The detection ball is just a detection and early warning device specially made by Albert to prevent himself from being attacked by the basilisk. It only has the function of detection and early warning.

Albert didn't expect this thing to become a radar for detecting dark creatures. To achieve that level, he didn't know how long it would take to improve it. He didn't think he could do it in a short time.

Seeing Hagrid's disappointed expression, Albert casually changed the subject, "Have you heard?"

"What did you hear?"

"Harry is a parselmouth."

"Harry is a Parseltongue?" Hagrid looked very shocked, "How could he be a Parseltongue? Tell me what's going on."

Albert told Hagrid about the last duel club.

"Now the whole school is suspecting that Harry is the heir of Slytherin." Albert said to Hagrid, "His life is not easy."

"How could Harry go back and attack others? These are all slanders!" Hagrid looked very excited. He himself had been slandered before, and he absolutely did not want Harry to follow in his footsteps.

"Okay Hagrid, don't get excited." Albert comforted softly: "I think Slytherin will never want his heir to be a Gryffindor student."

"Is Harry really a Parseltongue?" Hagrid suddenly asked.

"Yes. However, Parseltongue is just a rare ability. There are actually great and kind wizards in history who are Parseltongues." Albert explained calmly: "Ability has never been divided into good and bad."

"You're right." Hagrid agreed with Albert's point of view.
