Chapter 1,237 Ding kiln printing, Yi Jing wins the championship

The porcelain of the Song Dynasty was relatively famous, and there are many porcelains with peony patterns in existence.

During that period, peony patterns were used as auxiliary decorations.

Such as the carvings of Ding kiln and Yaozhou kiln, and the printing of phoenix and peony pattern.

If we really want to talk about fine porcelain with peony patterns, we have to talk about Ding Kiln.

Maybe it’s because since the Tang and Five Dynasties, yellow glazed, yellow-green glazed and brown-green glazed porcelains have been produced, so many countries produce Ding kiln porcelain with brighter peony patterns.

Cao Zhao of the Ming Dynasty's "Gegu Yaolun" states: "The porcelain fired at the Ding kiln was best produced during the Xuanhe period of the Song Dynasty, and during the Zhenghe period."

Among the plant decorations on Ding kiln white porcelain, the peony pattern is the most outstanding artistic achievement.

Ding kiln peony decoration is mainly expressed in the form of carving and printing, with fine carvings and clear lines.

At the same time, it also reflects the superb level of printing and demoulding technology.

Overall, the extraordinary artistic charm of Ding kiln carved peony decorations stems from the superb skills.

Especially the engraving process, so why is this process called engraving and not engraving?

In fact, it was mainly because this craft at that time was mainly used to carve flowers, including peonies.

This kind of carving technique is still very clever.

The blade's entry into the tire is full of changes. When the blade enters straight, the line will be narrow, and when it enters obliquely, it will become wider;

Use light force and the knife mark will be shallow, and apply heavy force and the knife mark will be deep. The changes are endless and thought-provoking.

The application of comprehensive techniques makes the picture more vivid and thought-provoking.

There are very few large pieces of porcelain with carved peony patterns left in the Ding kiln. Only the white glaze plum vase with the peony pattern carved on the Ding kiln in the Song Dynasty can be seen.

The bottle is 45.3 cm high, 4.9 cm in diameter, and 10.8 cm in full diameter.

Now in the collection of the Palace Museum, it has a small mouth, a short neck, plump shoulders, and gradually converges below the shoulders, thin feet, and a slender shape, tall and pretty.

The shoulder of the bottle is carved with a chrysanthemum petal pattern, the body of the bottle is carved with a peony pattern, and the lower part is carved with a banana leaf pattern.

The peony pattern carved by the knife is sharp and sharp, and can be used for carving, scratching and picking. It has different depths and widths. It is lively and full of changes in reality and reality.

The beautiful and elegant peonies emerge elegantly on the soft white ground, with the moisture of jade.

Such porcelain, even if made by modern people, is still very beautiful, let alone the craftsmanship of thousands of years ago.

What's more, the plum vase is considered a big one among Ding kiln ware.

Because the porcelain produced by Ding kiln is mostly small objects, such as bowls, plates, boxes, etc.

Such a large plum vase is extremely rare and extremely precious.

However, Ding kiln bowls, with peony patterns engraved on them, are numerous in variety and quantity, and are also the most distinctive products.

The peony-patterned bowls of Ding kiln are generally open, while the plates have flat bottoms.

This provides convenience for the expressive expression of peony decorations, so many classic patterns have emerged.

Such as one style, two styles and multiple styles, etc.

No matter how many flowers there are, they can give people artistic enjoyment.

A fancy carving with mostly plump and huge flowers.

For example, a large bowl with peony patterns in the Northern Song Dynasty has a height of 6.8 cm, a diameter of 21.5 cm, and a full diameter of 6.1 cm.

The mouth is inlaid with copper rib buttons, and the inside of the bowl is connected to the wall and bottom, with a broken branch of peony carved on it.

The blade of the workmanship is sharp, and the lines drawn with a straight edge are like the iron lines drawn in Chinese paintings, thin, strong, round and smooth.

There is a flower blooming alone in the picture. The flower is huge and takes up about half of the bowl.

The inner decoration includes six petals that are folded upwards and two petals that are unfolded downwards, in full bloom, shining brightly;

The two leaf valves are side by side, distributed left and right, and can stretch freely.

It shows the beautiful scenery and the clear spring scenery.

And two styles, more beautiful postures.

A lot of Ding kiln wares with peony patterns like this were produced during the Northern Song Dynasty.

Of course, there are many peony pattern porcelains from other kilns, but there are certainly not many that can compare with the peony pattern porcelain from Ding kiln.

Therefore, if Chen Wenzhe wants to make a breakthrough on the peony pattern porcelain, it is definitely best to imitate the peony pattern porcelain made from the kiln.

I have just made a lot of Ding kiln porcelain before, and now my hands are still warm. This time I just changed the pattern, which is easier in the end.

Chen Wenzhe didn't want to make it too complicated, so he just put some simple plates, bowls and the like.

For example, the folded-waist plate with carved peony pattern from Ding kiln in the Northern Song Dynasty is 5.3 cm high, 20.9 cm in diameter, and 6.3 cm in full diameter.

This is a six-petal flower-mouthed dish with an open mouth, folded waist and small feet.

The mouth is inlaid with copper rib buttons, and the inner and outer walls are decorated with peony patterns.

The outer wall is engraved with four peonies on a branch, and the inner wall and bottom of the vessel are engraved with a broken branch of peonies of two sizes.

A large peony is in full bloom, with lush petals that spread from the bottom of the plate to the edge of the plate. The petals turn from side to side, creating an enchanting posture.

A bud is carved on the left side of the big flower, swaying in the wind.

The leaves are sparse and graceful.

The knife is skillfully folded before and after, and the top edge of each petal has highly decorative circular tooth-like ripples, which are carved with a special round-edged knife.

On the petal surface, a grate is skillfully used to create wave patterns, making the petals undulating.

Except for the peony picture, there are no other decorations inside the vessel. It looks like a picture of white peonies, painted with makeup and powder, dancing in the wind, and a pure picture unfolds in front of you.

This is a folding waist plate. In addition, there are also folding edge plates.

The peonies carved in the Ding kiln of the Northern Song Dynasty are folded along the edge of the plate, which presents a different artistic conception.

An existing folded rim plate has a height of 2.6 cm, a diameter of 26.9 cm, and a full diameter of 17.6 cm.

This plate of peonies is in a relative layout. A single peony is carved on the plate, and a soft branch passes through the center of the plate, dividing the plate into two halves. At the same time, two huge peonies emerge from the branches, with heavy brocade petals, and are placed opposite each other. The response is as follows

The words are ready to be spoken.

This folded edge is engraved with flowers, and the use of the oblique knife is experienced and handy. It can be dignified and thick, or light and detailed, leisurely and freely. The flying blade makes the picture full and full of undulating dynamics.

And this kind of decoration is just the simplest one. In addition to one flower and two flowers, there were also multiple flowers at that time.

As the name suggests, it is just layers of peonies.

For example, the four-flower style is a decorative pattern with lush flowers and leaves, overlapping flowers and calyxes, and the orderly arrangement makes the picture balanced. The peonies and stingrays carved on the Ding kiln in the Northern Song Dynasty are an example.

The rim of this plate is inlaid with copper rib buttons. The height of the bowl is 5.6 cm, the diameter is 24.1 cm, and the bottom diameter is 7.5 cm.

The inner and outer walls of the plate are each engraved with four peonies, and the center part of the bowl is engraved with a pattern of panchi.

Four peonies are engraved on the inner wall, with long branches intertwined. The shape of the flowers, leaves and branches is thin and soft, creating beautiful ripples and swaying in full bloom.

The carver is good at making long lines, the knife is invincible, and the momentum is consistent.

The long line structure with different curvatures, the overall layout of flowers and leaves with different postures, and the meticulous arrangement.

At the same time, the details are also extremely delicate. The edges of the flowers and leaves are engraved with semicircular tooth-like decorations, which adds to the rhythm of the picture;

The grate is used to draw thin parallel straight lines or arcs on the petals and leaves, which also makes the already thin petals plump and moisturized.

And these are masterpieces of scratching and engraving, in addition to printing.

Ding kiln printing, Yi Jing won the championship, so I have to say it.
