Chapter 1,322 Blue and white porcelain from the sea in the Yuan Dynasty
Chen Wenzhe carried out the excavation of the shipwreck site in accordance with the requirements of archaeological work regulations, and the project implemented a team leader responsibility system.
After investigating and understanding the distribution of the remains, 50 exploratory squares were arranged with the central condensation as the center.
Each exploration area is 4 square meters, and the total excavation area is about 370 square meters.
The excavation was carried out to the hull, and the water depth was more than 3 meters.
All cultural relics that emerge from the water will be numbered, recorded, drawn, and photographed according to the survey unit.
Objects that disturb the water flow from the layer will be dealt with according to the collection number.
For effluent cultural relics, dedicated personnel must carry out necessary preliminary cleaning.
During the excavation work, we mainly relied on manual handling operations, supplemented by air negative pressure equipment and other equipment for silt cleaning.
After the disturbance layer was exposed, the ship hull and Southern Song Dynasty porcelain, ironware, cinnabar and other relics were discovered.
There are still many large condensations stacked on the upper part of the hull. After nearly 50 days of work, most of the relics have been extracted.
"My Healing Game"
The condensation remains in its original state, and the excavation site is backfilled and preserved.
The discovered hull had been partially destroyed, and the remaining hull covered an area of approximately 180 square meters.
The remaining length of the hull is 20 meters, the width is about 6 meters, and the side depth is about 3-4 meters.
11 remaining compartments were found. Except for the superstructure of the hull, the bottom hull is basically well preserved. It is initially estimated that the ship's displacement is greater than 60 tons.
This kind of ship is the first ancient ship hull discovered in my country in the distant sea. The sunken ship was still well preserved during the excavation, and its structure was basically clear.
However, because the hull components were highly saturated with water and on-site reinforcement conditions were limited, Chen Wenzhe and his colleagues only collected some specimens for research and experiments.
If a salvage plan can be put forward and implemented as soon as possible, it will be another ancient sunken ship in my country with great research value and display effect.
The total working time for this excavation was 55 days, and the total diving time was very long.
In the end, nearly 10,000 cultural relics were recovered, with pottery and porcelain accounting for the vast majority.
Ceramics are mainly produced in Hu Jian and Jingzhen. Ceramic products are mainly classified according to glaze color into green and white glaze, green glaze, brown glaze and black glaze.
The main types of utensils are bowls, plates, dishes, boxes, pots, cups, bottles, jars, urns, etc.
There are rich decorative techniques and patterns, new types of utensils were discovered compared to 1998-1999, and there are many fine products.
The value of this batch of porcelain cannot be underestimated.
Since entering the 21st century, shipwrecks have been discovered many times at home and abroad.
Over the next two decades, poachers from all over the world set off a black craze to steal undersea porcelain.
The global cultural relics market has also begun a buying and selling boom of "porcelain from the sea".
With the continuous discovery and salvage of overseas Chinese submarine shipwrecks, as well as the outstanding performance of "Hailao Porcelain" in the international auction market, "Hailao Porcelain" has attracted widespread attention in the collection community.
In recent years, "hailao porcelain" has frequently appeared in the domestic and foreign art auction markets.
A teapot with blue and white dragon patterns in the late Yuan and early Ming dynasties was sold at a high price of more than 6.7 million yuan.
The Ming Dynasty underglaze red lotus mouth fish and algae platter was hammered down for more than 7.9 million yuan.
Although the price is high, compared with the mature porcelain market, Hailao porcelain still has obvious advantages, with promising market prospects and huge potential for appreciation.
Although porcelain is not among my country's "four great inventions", its emergence and development have profoundly affected and changed people's lifestyles.
It can even be said that porcelain has promoted the development of historical civilization and has become an important carrier of cultural exchanges around the world.
"Haihai porcelain" belongs to the category of marine culture.
In history, countless ships carrying Chinese porcelain sank in the depths of the ocean due to accidents during long voyages, and the porcelain on board was also buried on the seabed.
The value of these porcelains, in many cases, cannot be measured by market value.
For example, our country is the first country in the world to make and use ceramics.
So how to prove it? The pottery sherds discovered at Yuchanyan in Daoxian County, Nanhu Province, date back to about 2000 and are the earliest pottery in the world.
Ceramics are also one of the most exported and popular products in ancient my country's foreign trade and cultural exchanges.
my country's production of porcelain specifically for external sales began in the Tang Dynasty.
Many shapes and decorations in Tang Sancai have a distinct color of Ala culture.
The blue and white glazed porcelain of the Song and Yuan Dynasties was mainly sold to Southeast Asia.
Longquan celadon is mainly sold to Neon, Goryeo, Tuji and European countries.
Blue and white porcelain was mainly sold to West Asia and the Middle East. By the Ming and Qing Dynasties, my country's export porcelain was sold in large quantities to Europe, Southeast Asia and Neon.
Although these "hailing porcelain" are mainly from local folk kilns and are mostly daily-use porcelain, there are many exquisite and heavy wares.
Some of the porcelain sold for export were even masterpieces representing the highest level of porcelain-making technology at that time.
From the Qin and Han Dynasties to the mid-Qing Dynasty for more than 2,000 years, our country has always stood tall in the east of the world as a great country.
The main production and living skills of Chinese civilization include porcelain making technology, and exchanges with foreign countries and peoples are also very extensive.
The top products of the silk industry, porcelain industry, tea industry, etc., which represent the highest level of production and living skills and the trend of the times, are not only supplied to the royal family, but are also used for trade and exchanges with ethnic groups outside the region.
From "Porcelain from the Sea", we can clearly see the impact of my country's traditional porcelain on the development of world civilization.
For example, the blue and white porcelain of the Ming Dynasty has profoundly influenced the upper class society in various countries around the world, especially Europe, and has also become a hot pursuit of different social classes in many countries.
The export porcelain of the Qing Dynasty has a distinct feature of the collision of Chinese and foreign cultures.
The patterns in many of the utensils at this time include not only the traditional scenes of our country's market, but also the complicated elements of Western aristocrats. They can be called masterpieces of Sino-foreign exchanges and the fusion of East and West.
I have said so much mainly to explain that since there are shipwrecks from the Song Dynasty here, did transport ships from the Tang Dynasty and Yuan Dynasty sink in this sea area?
The answer is yes. Chen Wenzhe of the Tang Dynasty did not find it, but among tens of thousands of blue and white glazed porcelains, he actually found the only blue and white porcelain, and it was probably a Yuan blue and white porcelain.
Chen Wenzhe has always had a special liking for Yuan Dynasty blue and white porcelain.
However, such a good opportunity has not come across yet, so this time when he went to sea to salvage a sunken ship, he was thinking about whether he could encounter a sunken ship from the Yuan Dynasty.
If you are lucky enough, you may not have a piece of Yuan Dynasty blue and white porcelain from the sea, but probably a ship of Yuan Dynasty blue and white porcelain.
Hard work paid off, and this time he finally encountered a golden opportunity.
Chen Wenzhe was finally able to realize his dream and collect a Yuan Dynasty blue and white porcelain from the sea.
Moreover, it is also a complete Yuan blue and white vessel, which is very rare and precious, and the vessel type is rare!
This complete Yuan blue and white porcelain from the sea is a Yuan blue and white box-shaped "Piyong inkstone". This type of vessel is very rare.
The most important thing is that this is a piece of porcelain from the sea, and it is a blue and white porcelain from the sea in the Yuan Dynasty.
