Chapter 1,483 The Treasure of the Chinese Nation

Although Chen Wenzhe has not specifically studied stone carving, he has indirectly learned many carving techniques.

At some point, he also knew that even with his superior carving skills, it would take at least a week to carve a stone tablet.

To make this kind of fake, you need to cut the stone and chisel the inscription first.

Advance the preliminary work first. As for how to do things later, we can only do the preliminary work well and then think of another way.

The imitation of inscriptions and stone carvings not only depends on carving techniques, but also calligraphy.

Therefore, this requires three key points, stone material, calligraphy, and carving techniques.

Generally speaking, from a technical point of view, counterfeiting is a craft that requires precision.

To really start, the craftsmen need to concentrate on it for days or even months.

Generally, you will cut off all thoughts from the outside world, concentrate on pouring all your efforts into one piece of work, and then you can create a masterpiece.

Especially engraving monuments is a skill that requires patience and meditation.

The exquisite forgeries of stone carvings are truly ingenious, both technically and aesthetically.

Such works, whether true or false, are a bit pleasing to the eye.

The stone tablets in front of him gave Chen Wenzhe a very unusual feeling.

Walking into this small isolation room, after walking forty or fifty meters, there are actually hundreds of inscriptions placed there.

Large and small, complete and broken, all kinds of calligraphy fonts are carved on stone tablets.

Suddenly, Chen Wenzhe felt like he was in the Forest of Steles.

Regardless of whether these stone tablets are true or false, Li Tianqiang must have worked hard and tried his best to obtain so many!

"Is this the Monument of King Yu?"

Slowly, Chen Wenzhe walked to a stone tablet.

This stone tablet is very special because Chen Wenzhe didn't recognize any of the handwriting on it.

There are very few stone tablets that can make him unable to recognize a single word, and among them, the King Yu tablet is the most famous.

The Monument of King Yu is the oldest stone carving in my country and a treasure in the world of cultural relics!

This is an unusual treasure, discovered in 1212 AD.

That period was the Southern Song Dynasty. People from the Southern Song Dynasty visited Hengshan Mountain in Nanyue and met a woodcutter in the mountain.

Seeing that he was a man of culture, the woodcutter told him that there was a big stone not far ahead. There were many strange words written on the stone. If you were interested, you could go and have a look.

He Zhi followed the direction pointed by the woodcutter and came to the foot of the big rock. When he saw it, he screamed excitedly.

This is the legendary oldest stone carving in my country - the Monument of King Yu, which is only recorded in historical materials.

He Zhi quickly carved out the inscription, and when passing through Changsha, he carved the inscription on the Yuelu Mountain.

This is the Monument of King Yu that we saw today, not the precious Monument of King Yu found in Hengshan Mountain.

In the field of cultural relic protection, the Monument of King Yu, the Mausoleum of the Yellow Emperor and the Mausoleum of the Yan Emperor are both the three treasures of the Chinese nation.

Since then, the real Monument of King Yu has been nowhere to be found, and it has become an eternal mystery.

Chen Wenzhe looked at the Monument of King Yu in front of him. If the authentic piece was not an eternal mystery, would the piece he had here also not appear?

I saw that this stele of King Yu was engraved with strange ancient seal scripts, divided into 9 lines, with a total of 77 characters.

The monument is 1.7 meters high and 1.4 meters wide.

The shape of the characters is like a tadpole, which is different from the oracle bones, bells and tripods, and also different from the tadpoles of ancient Chinese characters. It is difficult to distinguish it from ancient times.

Legend has it that the inscription on this stele records and praises Dayu's great achievements in flood control, and it is a merit stele.

The stepfather of the son of Dayu, who wanted to control floods, had a beautiful saying that he "did not listen to music for seven years and refused to enter the house three times", which has been passed down to this day.

However, due to its long history, people believe that this is the writing of the Xia Dynasty, earlier than the Shang and Zhou bronze inscriptions.

This kind of writing gradually disappeared by the end of the Warring States Period.

After the Qin and Han writing reforms, most literati could not read.

In addition, the content is in the Nanchu dialect and contains many falsehoods, making it even more difficult to identify.

Then for thousands of years, literati and poets have been trying to decipher this "heavenly book".

For example, Mr. Guo, a famous historian and Oracle expert, could only recognize 3 characters after studying it for 3 years.

Except for the scholar from the Southern Song Dynasty, no one else has seen the authentic Monument of King Yu.

What we can see now are those that were carved later. Now Chen Wenzhe can only identify this King Yu stele based on that inscription.

Since it is said to be the Monument of King Yu, the size and font should be fine.

The inscription has 9 lines, each line has 9 characters, 77 characters, all of which are correct. At the end there is an inch regular script "Made by Youdi Yu" in regular script.

The font is tadpole script, which is the bird-and-bug script.

This is a peculiar ancient seal script with a tadpole-like character shape, which is different from either the oracle bone, bell or tripod, or the tadpole of Xunwen.

It is because of this strangeness that some people think that this is probably Xia Wen.

Unfortunately, too little of this writing has been discovered, and there are no relevant archaeological sites to support it.

Even the monuments engraved on He Zhi's village have been lost several times.

At that time, he placed it on Yuelu Mountain. It was not until the twelfth year of Jiajing's reign in the Ming Dynasty (1533) that Pan Yi carved out the soil and obtained the stele, and his imitation became popular in the world.

Ming Dynasty scholars Yang Shen, Shen Yi, etc. all have interpretations.

The inscription mainly describes Yu the Great's achievements in controlling floods. Today, Chang'an Forest of Steles, Yu's Mausoleum, Fahua Mountain, Yellow Crane Tower and other places are based on this monument.

Such a famous stone tablet, and the real stone tablet has disappeared without a trace, becoming an eternal mystery.

So what will future generations do? Searching is certain, but re-engraving and forgery are inevitable.

Between legends and carvings, the authenticity and life experience of the Monument of King Yu gradually turned into a cultural mystery!

Because it is so famous in the history of Chinese civilization, not only the ancients highly praised it, but also modern people highly praise it.

Even in contemporary times, people have designated it as one of the three treasures of the Chinese nation.

Of course, there is a reason for all this.

The reason why the "Monument of King Yu" is so famous is obviously because Dayu was so famous.

Its contribution to Chinese civilization is too great.

Just mention a few and you can get a glimpse.

For example, Dayu controlled the great flood in ancient times, demarcated the nine states, built the Jiuding, etc.

Obviously, the Chinese nation's respect for Dayu has reached an extremely high level.

Therefore, once there is an inscription, it is said to be related to Dayu of the Xia Dynasty.

Then this inscription will definitely be highly praised by our people in all dynasties!

What's more, it is said that this inscription was erected to commemorate Dayu's flood control.

And because of the erection of the monument, there was an interesting story about Dayu being humble.

However, under the influence of various legends and mysterious factors, the "Monument of King Yu" has always had a huge attraction for celebrities and literati in the past dynasties.

[To be honest, I have been using Yeguoyuedu to read and catch up on books recently. I can switch sources and read aloud with many sounds. Yeguoyuedu is available for Android and Apple.]

In fact, although the "Monument of King Yu" is a treasure of the Chinese nation, its fate was unfortunate in history.

Moreover, there are too many mysteries surrounding the "Monument of King Yu".

Therefore, the authenticity of the "Monument of King Yu" and the mystery of his life experience have always been widely discussed and paid attention to by people.

What needs to be explained is that no matter how much controversy there is about the "Monument of King Yu", some things are true and are not falsehoods or legends.
