Chen Wenzhe flipped through some of the antique porcelain that Li Jinli recently sent, including monochrome glazed porcelain, imitation Ge kiln porcelain, and imitation Longquan kiln porcelain.
Unfortunately, the technology of these imitations was too inferior, and Chen Wenzhe did not like them.
However, Li Jinli probably didn't spend less this time, because there are a lot of these things here, and they don't look fake at all.
The price of imitations of this quality in the market should not be low.
For example, the pieces of porcelain on the bottom are well spliced together, but in Chen Wenzhe's eyes, they are still full of loopholes.
However, among these counterfeit porcelains, he actually saw a Hongxian porcelain of the Jurentang model, which was interesting.
If there were official kilns during this period of the Republic of China, then there were only "Hongxian" porcelain and "Zhizhai" porcelain.
At the end of the Qing Dynasty and after entering the Republic of China, amidst the intense efforts of Yuan Yuan to restore the imperial system, Guo Shiwu wanted to follow the practices of the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties and fire precious porcelain in Jingzhen for palace furnishings.
Guo Shiwu reported this idea to Yuan, who was very impressed and immediately appointed Guo Shiwu as the supervisor of the Ceramics Department to go to Jingzhen to bake the "Hongxian" imperial porcelain.
For this reason, Guo Shiwu became the last pottery supervisor in the history of Jingzhen Royal Kiln Factory.
The imperial kiln factory produced a very small batch of "Hongxian" porcelain in a very short period of time.
It mostly takes the prosperous and auspicious Yong and Qian porcelains as samples and carefully imitates them.
This batch of porcelain has excellent texture, exquisite color materials, and beautiful appearance. It is a batch of extremely special products.
In fact, "Hongxian" porcelain is just a general name, and the high-end and precious porcelain fired by Guo Shiwu does not use the "Hongxian" inscription.
When Guo Shiwu supervised the porcelain making in Lijingzhen, he began to burn the "Jurentang" porcelain. Before the "Hongxian year" imperial porcelain was fired, Yuan, who had been emperor for 83 days, fell.
"Jurentang" was Yuan's residence in China Sea at that time. The authentic "Hongxian" porcelain is the world-famous "Jurentang" style porcelain.
Therefore, most of the utensils that are "Hongxian Year System" or "Hongxian Imperial System" that we see today were fired in private kilns in the 1920s and 1930s. Although they are exquisitely made, they are indeed fakes.
Guo Shiwu also used his own alias "Touch Zhai" as his brand name and fired some porcelains. Both the porcelains made by "Jurentang" are very valuable.
There are very few precious porcelains with "Ju Renzhang" and "Zhi Zhai" inscriptions. Some people don't recognize the goods when they see them, don't pay attention to them, and even sell them easily.
There is nothing we can do about this, because this type of porcelain from the Republic of China period is really rare.
Therefore, it is more difficult to identify.
When encountering this kind of porcelain, when distinguishing authenticity from fakes, special attention should be paid to the fact that the mark is not "Made in Jurentang" but other details.
This kind of utensil has the characteristics of meticulous workmanship in its glaze, shape, and painting.
Moreover, there are more small items than large ones, and the imitations are often very similar in "style" and the rest are very rough.
The blue and white porcelain of this period had thicker fetal bones, and there were more products from private kilns.
Compared with the porcelain of previous dynasties, there is a huge gap.
The enamel is not tightly combined with the fetal bone, and bubbles and deglazing appear on the glaze.
Generally speaking, if a blue patterned surface is found with glaze explosion spots and traces of the glaze exploding outward, it must have been produced within the past hundred years.
The color of blue and white porcelain is dark and bluish, commonly known as magenta.
Ocean blue appeared in my country in the late Guangxu period. At that time, most of the blue and white porcelain in folk kilns was made of ocean blue.
During this period, the porcelain paintings became less sophisticated and more sloppy, and a large number of blue and white porcelain imitations appeared dull.
Although some are green, gorgeous, and exquisitely painted, they have a strong sense of floating.
Watercolor is a porcelain color that appeared in the late Guangxu period. This color does not contain powder, has the characteristics of thin color materials and vitreous glaze.
Due to the fine selection of materials, the porcelain fetal bones are very thin.
Watercolor and soft-color porcelain was fired at that time.
Some are marked with "Hongxian Year System" or "Hongxian Imperial System" blue or red materials.
The colorful porcelain of the Republic of China was of bright colors.
The bright red and green varieties are common and can be easily distinguished from earlier varieties.
The more famous ones include imitation enamel and pastel utensils.
According to documentary records, in 1916, Guo Baochang supervised pottery in Xijiang and fired about a hundred pieces of antique enamel porcelain, inscribed with the words "Jurentang".
Regardless of the type, Hongxian porcelain is rare anyway, so it is obvious that the one in Chen Wenzhe's hands cannot be authentic.
This batch of porcelain collected by Li Jinli can be regarded as thoughtful.
However, almost all the items here are imitations, and the best ones are only high imitations from the Republic of China period.
Of course, there are also some very interesting porcelains, such as imitation single-color glazed porcelain from the Republic of China, and company-style porcelain, etc.
From the end of Guangxu to the Xuantong period, Jingzhen established a ceramics company and branch factory according to the Western system.
Therefore, company-style porcelain only appeared during the Republic of China.
However, the quality of such porcelain is not very good.
Perhaps it was because of the poor quality that no one imitated it, so Li Jinli was able to buy a few authentic pieces.
There was nothing we could do about it. At that time, the factory was researching new methods, improving its technology and improving its quality and style.
However, it ultimately failed due to the chaotic current situation, insufficient funds, and unsustainable support.
From a technical perspective, Xuantong porcelain has a high level of craftsmanship and has the characteristics of modern ceramic craftsmanship.
In the second year of Xuantong, Xijiang Porcelain Company raised funds to establish the China Ceramics School.
This school has two undergraduate and apprentice classes to cultivate professional ceramic talents in a purposeful and planned way.
However, there are not many products left from this period, and they are still rare today.
Li Jinli was lucky to have bought one.
Of course, there are good things in this period.
This period of the Republic of China was very special, perhaps because the official kilns were disbanded and without the emperor, the imperial kilns naturally disappeared.
Therefore, some of the porcelain craftsmen dispersed into the tasting have high cultural literacy.
In addition, some intellectuals have joined the porcelain industry, so most of the porcelain craftsmen are good at landscapes, figures, flowers and birds, insects and fish, and there is absolutely no one who specializes in one craft.
They often complete everything from artwork design, sketching to rendering by one person, freely expressing the artist's personality.
Therefore, light crimson porcelain paintings appear "live" and more "open".
Poems, calligraphy and paintings are often coordinated and unified, with signatures and names, and the models are novel.
The more famous ones during this period were the Eight Friends of Zhushan. They were the most famous for their porcelain plate paintings, and Chen Wenzhe had collected some before.
At that time, the custom of signing the name of the craftsman and writing the year and month of production on porcelain plates gradually emerged.
What needs special attention is that during the same period, a number of famous painters specialized in light crimson color emerged.
After the 1920s, pastels gradually replaced light crimson colors and became the mainstream of porcelain plate paintings.
It was at this time that the "Eight Friends of Zhushan" headed by Wang Qi emerged and produced a number of exquisite porcelain plate paintings that were loved by people from all walks of life.
In addition to the "Eight Friends", works by famous artists such as Li Mingliang, Fang Yunfeng, Deng Bishan, and Wang Bu are also famous.
