Chapter 439: Twists and Legends

There is no such thing as either/or in this world.

If these two things are not from the Yuan Dynasty, they are certainly not from the Ming Dynasty.

And as long as it is not from the Ming Dynasty, it must be a modern imitation, not an imitation from the Qing Dynasty or the Republic of China period.

This is the special feature of Yuan Qinghua. I'm afraid they all know this.

Blue and white was first produced in the Tang Dynasty and was also produced in the Song Dynasty.

The popularity of blue and white porcelain in the Song Dynasty led to the rapid development of Jingzhen porcelain, which promoted the emergence of blue and white porcelain and reached maturity in the Yuan Dynasty.

Starting from the Yuan Dynasty, through the Ming and Qing Dynasties, both official kilns and private kilns have been firing continuously.

Of course, this is what people think now. Fifty or sixty years ago, things were not like this.

Although Jingzhen has successfully fired blue and white porcelain in the Yuan Dynasty, due to the lack of historical records and the lack of physical evidence with clear chronology, people's knowledge and understanding of Yuan blue and white porcelain has been blank for hundreds of years.

For a long time, people have been wondering whether China has blue and white porcelain from the Yuan Dynasty?

Could a horse nation like the Yuan Dynasty produce blue and white porcelain?

There must be some prejudice in this, which is why later generations have doubts about Yuan Qinghua!

Among some people's prejudices, naturally there is no such thing.

Even if it does, what artistic features does it have?

It can be said that no one can tell clearly.

Because of this, when people reveal this historical mystery, there are quite a few twists and turns and legends.

Since Yuan blue and white porcelain was mostly used for foreign trade exports, a considerable part of it remains abroad.

According to incomplete statistics, there are about 110 Yuan blue and white pieces lost overseas, mainly collected in countries such as Turkey and Iraq in the Middle East.

Most of the domestic collections were unearthed from archaeological excavations in various places after the founding of the People's Republic of China.

At present, it is mainly collected in the Palace Museum, Capital Museum, Jingzhen and other cultural and museum institutions.

Yuan blue and white flowers are rare, and no one thought that Yuan blue and white flowers actually existed before.

During this gap period, many interesting things will happen.

For example, now, when Yuan Dynasty blue and white porcelain is identified as an imitation, some people often ask: When was it an imitation? Could it be a Ming imitation? Or a Qing imitation?

The intention is obvious: Even if the Yuan blue and white I spent a lot of money to buy is not a genuine Yuan dynasty, if it is an imitation from the Ming and Qing dynasties, wouldn't it still be of considerable value?

Just like the previous chicken bowl cup, even if it was imitated by the Kangxi Dynasty, it is still very valuable.

He has already proven it false just now, but he just doesn’t know how much money he can buy that thing for.

The price is low, I wonder how low it can be? It would be even better if I could add a pair of porcelain in front of me.

If you want to buy at a low price, you must play a decisive role in the appraisal. Otherwise, Chen Wenzhe really doesn't want to say anything more.

Therefore, if Qian Qiansheng wanted to identify a descendant imitation, Chen Wenzhe would not do it.

Because imitations of Yuan blue and white porcelain are indeed an exception.

The world's knowledge and understanding of Yuan blue and white flowers only lasts for the past fifty or sixty years at best.

Generally speaking, if you don’t recognize something, there will be no imitations.

Moreover, due to lack of awareness, its value is not easily recognized by others, and it is difficult for it to enter the vision of profit-seeking imitators.

Therefore, for Yuan Dynasty blue and white porcelain, it is either the original Yuan Dynasty product or a modern imitation.

There is absolutely no possibility of any imitation of Ming Dynasty or Qing Dynasty.

As for identifying whether it is Yongxuan blue and white, it is also very easy.

As mentioned above, blue and white developed gradually. In the Yuan Dynasty, the firing of blue and white began to mature, but it was not until the Ming Dynasty that blue and white reached its peak.

Therefore, Yongxuan blue and white are generally better than Yuan blue and white.

Yongxuan and Xuanguan kiln wares have distinctive characteristics of the times and are easy to identify.

Compared with Yuan blue and white, Yongxuan blue and white is more gentle and subtle in color, less green, and the dark brown sunken iron spots make the glaze slightly uneven.

The most important thing is that the iron, cobalt and manganese contained in them are different.

The differences in these ingredients are consistent with the actual color appearance.

The imported cobalt material for the blue and white glaze of the Yuan Dynasty has been confirmed to be low in manganese, low in iron and high in cobalt, which is very different from the blue and white glaze used in the Yongxuan blue and white glaze.

As we all know, most of Yongxuan blue and white are composed of imported green materials and pebbles, which increase the manganese and iron content and reduce the cobalt content ratio. The color is bluish-purple, and the sunken black spots are more dark brown.

This kind of color appearance after adding pebbles is different from the pure imported blue and white in the early and middle Yuan Dynasty, which has a bright green color and mostly black sunken spots.

It is too simple to identify whether it is Yongxuan blue and white.

Many typical features can prove that the two pieces of porcelain here cannot be Yongxuan blue and white.

Moreover, what Chen Wenzhe said is irrefutable!

As mentioned above, if it is not Yongxuan blue and white, then it cannot be an imitation of Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is naturally a modern handicraft.

As for the Yuan blue and white, if it were genuine, who would rub off the bottom?

It is also very possible that the remaining money on the bottom was worn off and changed to Xuande blue and white?

After the identification reached this level, and through Chen Wenzhe's intentional or unintentional guidance, everyone believed that these were two imitations of extremely exquisite modern handicrafts.

Although other features are very similar to Yuan blue and white, the appraisal of antiques is like this. As long as you find one wrong place, you can deny thousands of right places.

Feeling that the matter was about to end, Chen Wenzhe reached out without hesitation and once again touched the large Yuan blue and white lion rolling ball pattern jar in front of him.

Of course it is Yuan blue and white, because the features are so standard.

Chen Wenzhe is very sure about this, but why would he endorse someone who is hostile to him?

As for whether this Yuan blue and white piece would be treated as a replica because of his identification, Chen Wenzhe said that this is not a problem.

The golden light of Bagua shone, and the experience of Yuan Qinghua flashed in Chen Wenzhe's mind.

Soon, Chen Wenzhe saw clearly why this piece of Yuan Qinghua ended up like this.

The problem still lies in the question of whether there are Yuan Qinghua or not.

In the early years of the Republic of China, these two items were discovered in a cellar. However, they actually had clear inscriptions on them, and there were quite a few words on them.

Because there were too many words on it and it was not recognized by the antique shops at the time, the person who discovered the cache simply rubbed off all the writing on the bottom.

That's not all. They found a so-called master and made a six-character inscription made in the Xuande year of the Ming Dynasty.

Chen Wenzhe can clearly see through the backtracking skills that this piece of Yuan blue and white porcelain has an embossed rectangular stamp with the inscription "Gu Xiang, Boling Di" on the bottom.

This kind of design is very special. The upper end is covered with lotus leaves, and the lower end supports an open lotus.

The left and right sides of the frame are printed with loop patterns, giving it a simple and beautiful charm.

This type of inscription was very popular in the Yuan Dynasty, because there were no chronological inscriptions from the Ming and Qing dynasties in the Yuan Dynasty.

On the official kiln porcelain of the Yuan Dynasty, the name and reason of the pottery supervisor were recorded, which is also a feature of Yuan porcelain.
