Chapter 607: Betting on the value of the future due to the perspective of the past

There is really no comparison between second-rate dealers and rich bosses.

And this rich boss really liked these big cans, so he directly offered a high price.

In the modern art market, it cannot be said that there are many works worth more than one million, but there are also quite a few.

But there are not many rising stars like Chen Wenzhe and Yi Niantang who are rising as fast as they are.

"It just exceeded one million!" Li Jinli felt a little pity.

"It seems that the antique market is really dying!" Chen Wenzhe also sighed with emotion. The management committee of this scenic spot is still very discerning.

The porcelain business here has just started, and they have taken advantage of the trend to make the art trade flourish everywhere. This is really forward-looking.

In recent years, ancient porcelain has bucked the downward trend, while the price of modern porcelain has increased more than 10 times. This actually speaks volumes.

The so-called modern porcelain generally refers to porcelain works produced in the modern period and after the founding of New China.

In just a few years, modern porcelain has overshadowed ancient porcelain in the limelight, and it can easily fetch over a million dollars at auction.

At the end of 2007, Shendu Hanhai launched the "National Treasure - Chinese Contemporary Art" special sale for the first time.

21 pieces of modern porcelain were sold, and 18 were sold. Dai Fanrong's multicolored "White Snake Legend - Broken Bridge" figure vase was sold for 672,000 yuan, which was a sky-high price at the time.

This was a rampant starting point, and then it became even more out of control.

According to incomplete statistics, since 2010, more than 10 auction companies around the world have opened special auctions of contemporary ceramics.

The transaction volume continues to increase, and tens of millions of works frequently appear.

The Shendu Poly "Modern and Contemporary Ceramics" special event held at the end of 2011 earned 89.67 million yuan;

Huaxia Jiade's "Modern Ceramics" special session had a total transaction volume of 61.94 million yuan.

Compared with the total turnover of 10 million yuan in the first special auction in 2008, it has increased by more than five times in three years.

The works of several modern porcelain masters have become popular.

In 2010, "Three Visits to the Thatched Cottage" by arts and crafts master Zhang Songmao was sold for 13 million yuan, bringing modern porcelain into the "tens of millions of dollars era".

In 2011, the work "Four Screens of Blue and White Spiritual Birds in Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter" by the late Chinese ceramic art master Wang Bu was sold for 27 million yuan, changing the transaction record for modern and contemporary ceramic works in Jingzhen.

The "rampant" modern porcelain has not only swept the auction market, but also formed a remarkable phenomenon in the primary market.

At the beginning, the works of Lu Ru, Dai Ronghua, Li Jusheng and others were almost held for purchase.

In 2007, a Tibetan friend bought a teapot made by Dai Fuhua, a master of craftsmanship, for 20,000 yuan. After a few years, the market price has exceeded 200,000 yuan.

A bottle belonging to the "contemporary blue and white master" Lu Ru was bought by a collector for 65,000 yuan in 2006. Five or six years later, its value was 500,000 yuan higher.

In the past five or six years, the price of modern porcelain has increased nearly 10 times.

And now, it might be worth five or six million.

There is nothing we can do about this. As these great masters age, their artistic peak period is about to pass, and the number of fine porcelains continues to decline.

The supply and demand relationship in the market determines the price. There are only a few ceramic production areas in our country, there are only a few master artists in Jingzhen, and high-quality modern porcelain is hard to come by.

The imbalance between supply and demand between the vast number of collectors and the limited supply of fine modern porcelain has pushed up the price of modern porcelain.

There is a "golden rule" in the collecting world: Don't be afraid of buying something expensive, be afraid of buying something wrong.

All collections are based on the perspective of the past and bet on the value of the future.

As the mentality of Tibetan friends continues to mature, fewer and fewer people consciously pursue the past.

Today's masterpieces are now played, and they are tomorrow's antiques and treasures.

Modern porcelain is divided into high, medium and low-end according to its place of origin, author, vessel type, subject matter and quality.

However, in the modern ceramics market, the price of works is now determined according to the level of the creator.

Works by national arts and crafts masters generally cost more than 100,000 yuan.

Provincial arts and crafts masters earn tens of thousands of yuan, while senior craftsmen earn nearly 10,000 yuan.

Therefore, some people bet their money on the master.

For a time, "masters" were everywhere and became a joke in the industry.

Any collection must be based on a single hobby.

If you just spontaneously follow the trend, only follow the master's theory, and treat it with a hype mentality, you may be disappointed because you cannot achieve your expected economic goals.

How long can the "rocket-like rise" of modern porcelain prices last? It's hard to say.

However, Chen Wenzhe knows the inside story very well, and this is the benefit of joining the system.

In this regard, the calibers of several auction companies in Dahai City are basically the same.

The characteristics of modern porcelain art and the scarcity of quantity are a contradiction, both are inversely proportional.

If the quantity is large, it will depreciate, and if it starts to become scarce, it will definitely appreciate in value.

For example, for young authors like Chen Wenzhe, the characteristic of his works will definitely be that the number of them will increase in the future.

And like his teacher Professor Tao, his works have begun to become scarce, because as he gets older, his works will definitely gradually decrease.

Nowadays, a piece of Chen Wenzhe's work can only cost tens of thousands of yuan. A large vessel like a large jar can cost more than 100,000 yuan.

Therefore, his godhood is now considered stable. As long as it is a high-quality work, the price will definitely exceed 100,000.

If he didn't do it, he would definitely be at the level of a national arts and crafts artist, not a master. That would be a joke.

In fact, his true level should be at the level of a provincial arts and crafts artist. After all, the price of his purple clay teapots is stable at more than 50,000 yuan. This is his regular work.

As for Chen Xingchen and others, their best work now only costs close to 10,000 yuan. It looks like they are at the level of senior craftsmen, but in fact, they are still far behind.

According to Chen Wenzhe's estimation, Chen Xingchen and the others are at the level of junior craftsmen or intermediate craftsmen.

Today's senior craftsmen are generally students of the master, or simply apprentices. They are generally masters who have been trained for decades or more than ten years.

These masters are just not famous yet. As long as you give them a chance, it shouldn't be difficult for their works to sell for tens or hundreds of thousands.

Calculating it this way, Chen Xingchen and the others are at the level of an intermediate craftsman at most.

Chen Wenzhe should be a provincial arts and crafts artist.

As for the fact that his large jars can be sold for the price of a national-level artist, this must not only be because of his craftsmanship, but also because the large jars he makes are complicated and difficult for others to make.

Whether it is ruby red glaze or blue and white underglaze red, they are both difficult to fire varieties.

No one else can make it, which creates scarcity in the market and makes the price more expensive.

Otherwise, those people who are pursuing it are really stupid? Would they pay such a high price?

It can be said that Chen Wenzhe took a trick, and his purple clay teapot works are the true reflection of his level.
