Chapter 638: Low-key luxury

Of the six teacups, only two are relatively well preserved. Just like that, one of them still has a flush on the rim.

After all, only one is perfect.

Looking at the chipped tea bowl, it is not serious and Chen Wenzhe can repair it.

As for those with scratches on the edges, you don’t even need to repair them. You can just wrap them with gold, silver, copper and other materials, and you can even wrap them beautifully.

As for the cracked ones, sawing porcelain is also a very good craft, especially the sawing nails, which are made into loach backs and nailed into the porcelain, which also has a different kind of beauty.

Looking at these six white porcelain bowls one by one, Chen Wenzhe could see through the gaps the typical glutinous rice bodies inside, which is a characteristic of Dehua white porcelain.

Of course, the most important point is that the white color of Dehua white porcelain is also very different.

In fact, when he first saw these white porcelain bowls, Chen Wenzhe thought for a moment that they might be Ding kiln white porcelain, or sweet white porcelain from the Yongle and Xuande periods.

These two porcelain varieties are the only ones that can compete with Dehua white porcelain.

However, after just a brief look, Chen Wenzhe thought that this was Dehua white porcelain, not the other two types.

It is a pity that these porcelain bowls are broken, but through the gap, Chen Wenzhe can see the internal texture, the glaze layer, the characteristics of the glaze, etc.

Regarding the porcelain making process, Chen Wenzhe has now reached the master level in all aspects.

Even if he can't make Dehua white porcelain, he can make a pretty good guess about the porcelain making process of Dehua white porcelain just by looking at it.

The characteristics of Dehua white porcelain are easy to identify, such as the soft and firm fetal bones, commonly known as "glutinous rice fetus", and its crystal luster.

The glaze water is also different. The glaze water of Dehua white porcelain is clean, even and thick, and is closely integrated with the fetal bones.

The color is also quite special, it can be said to be as warm as jade, translucent and smooth.

When the body of the device is illuminated by light, you can see the shadow of your fingers.

The sound of percussion is clear and melodious, like striking metal, making a clanging sound.

Its wonderful glaze texture is comparable to the "Five Virtues" of jade. Its appearance once caused great repercussions in the porcelain world.

Many domestic connoisseurs praised it: "It looks like a set device without opening, as smooth as milky white, as bright as ivory, as fine as silk and as thick as water."

This kind of porcelain is very different from other famous porcelain. Its texture is as smooth as milky white, just like ivory.

To sum up, that is to say, Dehua white porcelain has a dense body, fine and white fetal bones, a tight combination between the body and glaze, pure glaze color, and extremely good light transmittance. Even a small number of medium and low-temperature white porcelains appear to be cracked.

Very moist and delicate.

Such characteristics are different from the Ding kiln white porcelain and the sweet white porcelain of the Yongxuan period.

Many ceramic works of the Ming and Qing Dynasties often compare Dehua white porcelain to Ding kiln white porcelain and the sweet white porcelain of the Yongle and Xuande periods.

It is also called "Jianzhi Fending", or "Leiyong, Xuanzhi Tianbai".

In fact, compared to Ding Kiln white porcelain and JDZ sweet white porcelain, Dehua white porcelain not only has different chemical element content in the body glaze, but also the glaze layer in appearance is purer, the body and glaze are tightly combined, and the color is moist and bright.

The process technology has become more mature.

The acquisition of this excellent quality actually relies not only on technology, but also largely on materials.

It is also because of this that even if Chen Wenzhe's technical level has reached the master level, there are many porcelains that he cannot make.

For example, Dehua white porcelain, sweet white porcelain, Ding kiln white porcelain, and even some special porcelain.

There are also celadon from Yaozhou kiln and celadon from Yue kiln. When these porcelains are fired, they also have a jade-like texture, but they are different from Longquan celadon.

Let’s go back to Dehua white porcelain. The successful firing of Dehua white porcelain has a close relationship with the raw materials of porcelain clay, in addition to the porcelain craftsmen at that time who could properly control the flame atmosphere.

Modern research shows that Ding kiln white porcelain is fired with clay with a high alumina content. The clay contains few fluxing substances, so the porcelain body is not dense enough and has poor light transmittance.

Dehua kiln white porcelain is made of porcelain clay with a high silica content.

The porcelain clay is extremely finely processed, and the potassium oxide content in the porcelain clay is as high as 6%.

In addition, the porcelain clay contains low iron, titanium and other impurities, and there is more glass phase after firing. Therefore, the porcelain body is smooth and dense, as white as jade, and has particularly good light transmittance.

Due to the fine white texture of the body, the extremely low iron oxide content, the pure white glaze with extremely high potassium oxide content, and the use of a neutral atmosphere during firing, the Dehua kiln white porcelain glaze appears exceptionally pure.

After successful firing, the glaze of Dehua white porcelain was crystal clear, milky white like ivory, and as beautiful as gelatinous jade. It surpassed any white porcelain at the kiln entrance in the past and became the representative of Chinese white porcelain.

As for sweet white porcelain, it is a high-whiteness porcelain created by the Jingzhen Guan Kiln during the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty, based on the Privy Ware of the Yuan Dynasty.

The literature describes it as "white as gelatin, as plain as snow".

Its color is quiet and soft, giving people a "sweet" feeling visually, so it is called "sweet white porcelain".

One of the characteristics of Yongle sweet white porcelain is that the glaze is white, thick as fat, without brown eyes, and when exposed to light, the glaze appears fleshy red or pink;

Another characteristic is that the glaze on the edges and corners of the utensils often shines with a gray-green sheen.

The glaze surface occasionally appears a very light shrimp blue color, which is like three colors of green, gray and white intertwined together, which is very strange.

The glaze of the Xuande white glaze ware is also milky white, the glaze is thicker, and there are dense small orange peel brown eyes.

In comparison, Dehua white porcelain has a dense body, excellent light transmittance, and a thin glaze layer, but it has a jade-like feel. When viewed through the light, the color is smooth and bright, crystal clear, and pink or milky white appears in the glaze.

, the glaze layer is uniform and delicate, smooth and clean, without the dark, ashy-blue variegated colors that appear on Xuantian white porcelain, and even more rare orange peel and brown eyes.

Therefore, Chen Wenzhe confirmed that this was Dehua white porcelain, and it was one of the finest, but I don’t know what it had gone through, and it ended up in such a miserable condition!

After confirming that this is Dehua white porcelain, we must also determine its age.

This is more difficult because this set of tea bowls does not leave any identifying information.

For this reason, when Chen Wenzhe first saw it, he thought it was ordinary porcelain used in folk life.

Through the gap, he could see the texture and enamel inside, as well as the special white color produced by its special process. Only then did Chen Wenzhe realize that this was definitely not an ordinary porcelain, but contained a low-key

Luxurious high-end tea bowl.

It may seem simple and unpretentious, but anyone who knows the art knows that anything made with this technique is extraordinary.

Therefore, this thing can be sold for a big price even if there is no money left.

Looking at a tea bowl in his hand, Chen Wenzhe wondered, should he wipe off the dirt on the outside? See what the glaze color looks like?

Although it is difficult to identify the age, it is not impossible to identify it.

The whiteness of Dehua white porcelain varies from year to year, and the firing effects are also different.

White is definitely all white, but there are many types of white.
