Volume Two: The Red Lotus Case in the Ancient Temple Chapter 28: Duan Ming in the Prison

July 20th, Linyang City Prison.

There is no daylight in the deep prison. A dark corridor is flanked by cells separated by thick walls. The floors in these cells are covered with thick hay and nothing else.

Looking through the wooden fence, it can be seen that many cells are not empty, or in other words, there are people in most of the cells.

One by one, the prisoners were leaning against the wall, their faces looking yellow and ugly.

At this moment, several government officials walked in with food boxes in their hands.

As if they heard the noise in the corridor, the prisoners raised their heads at the same time and stared at the corridor outside.

"It's time to eat, it's time to eat!" Several government officials stopped in front of each cell door one after another. A few steamed buns and a pot of water were placed in front of each cell.

Immediately, the prisoners in the cell hurriedly climbed to the door of the cell. There were often three or four prisoners in one cell, so if they were faster, they could eat one more steamed bun.

Soon, all the steamed buns and water in the food box were distributed, and several government officials turned around and left.

After a while, several government officials came back with a beautiful food box in their hands.

They carried the food box to the hall, placed the food box on the table, and took out a pot of wine, a roast chicken and several plates of side dishes.

"Whose craftsmanship is this today? It smells so delicious!" said a young government official.

"Sun's Roast Chicken in the west of the city is a newly opened store and it tastes good!" said another middle-aged government official.

"Okay, I'm going to ask people to eat." The last officer rubbed his hands, went straight to the innermost part of the prison, and knocked on the fence of the cell: "Sixth, it's time to eat!"

"Ah, here we come!" A lazy voice came from the cell.

You can see through the bars that this cell is completely different from other cells. The room is extremely clean and even has a small bed.

"Hmm..." A figure sat up from the crib and stretched: "It smells so good. What kind of food is this today? I can smell it from here!"

"Sun's Roast Chicken is newly opened in the west of the city. Come and try it quickly!" the officer said and walked towards the hall.

"Smells, it really smells good!" The figure on the small bed got off the ground, and the light in the corridor shone on his face. Who else could it be if it wasn't Duan Ming?

I saw Duan Ming slowly walking to the door, gently pushing the cell door open, and then walked out: "Wait for me!"

Soon, Duan Ming walked to the table and found a seat to sit down under the envious, jealous and hateful eyes of many prisoners: "Well, it's really good."

"Lao Liu, how many days were you sentenced this time?" The young government officer tore up a piece of chicken and threw it into his mouth.

"I remember it was seven days. There should be two days left now." The middle-aged government servant said: "Old Liu, Old Liu, you are the best at stealing chickens to this extent."

"Haha, don't tell me, the prefect is reluctant to beat him, kill him, and release him. He can only be kept here for a period of time every time." The third government official laughed.

"Hehe, thank you, thank you." Duan Ming poured himself a glass of wine and looked at the third yamen servant: "By the way, Brother Zhu, how is your wife?"

"Thanks to your kindness, Dr. Song took a look at her and she is much better." said the Yamen servant surnamed Zhu.

This Zhu Yamen servant is called Zhu Wei. His wife suffered from dementia before, and she went to many doctors to no avail.

Later, Duan Ming found out about it, and under his introduction, Zhu Wei took his wife to Rendetang for diagnosis and treatment. The treatment effect was very remarkable.

"That's good. Doctor Song's medical skills are absolutely unparalleled!" Duan Ming tore up a piece of chicken and nodded.

"I can't believe that, Lao Liu, you not only know the criminal commander of the Mingjing Division, but also the Song Dynasty doctor from Rende Hall, and even the Fang Mansion gave you some respect." The middle-aged government officer praised you.

"Hehe, luck, luck." Duan Ming said with a smile.

"When you are released from prison this time, we will give your cell a good layout. Tsk tsk, you are already home in time," said the young yamen officer.

"Don't say that, my poor alley is nowhere better than this one." Duan Ming waved his hand.

"That's right, it's amazing to be in jail until you have wine and meat, in a single room." The middle-aged government officer took a sip of wine: "Lao Liu, what do you mean by catching up? Oh, by the way, vacation! You It’s just in time for vacation.”

"Hehe, isn't this thanks to all my brothers for your care?" Duan Ming said with a smile again.

Soon, after having enough wine and food, Duan Ming stretched out his body, waved to several government officials, and then walked back to his cell to sleep.

For some reason, Duan Ming felt extremely tired these past few days, as if he couldn't get enough sleep no matter how hard he slept.

The night in Linyang City is quiet. Although three months have passed since the case of Linzhou Talented Scholar, Linyang City still has not completely returned to its former prosperity.

Except for the singing and dancing that has resumed on both sides of the Surin River, in other places once night falls, few people walk on the road anymore.

At this moment, there was a rapid sound of horse hoofbeats, and several people in black were seen riding batches of black horses galloping on the deserted streets.

The patrolling soldiers heard the noise here and rushed over quickly, trying to stop him.

However, the leading man in black waved his hand, and a black shadow flew towards the patrolling soldier at the front.

The soldier caught it and took a look, then threw it back to the leading man in black, and at the same time continued patrolling with the patrolling soldiers.

Black shadows were like ghosts, moving through the darkness, and soon arrived at the Linyang City Prison.

At this moment, Duan Ming was sleeping soundly in the prison.

Several men in black did not stop and rushed into the prison on horseback. Upon seeing this, the young yamen officer was about to shout loudly but was stopped by the middle-aged yamen officer.

The middle-aged government officer's face was very ugly. Anyone who saw that the place he was guarding was being intruded would probably not look good.

However, during the day, the middle-aged government officer had already received the order. He knew what these men in black were doing and understood that they were pressed for time, so he could not stop them despite his anger.

Several men in black drove their horses into the innermost part of the corridor. Then they jumped off their horses and rushed directly into the cell where Duan Ming was.

"You guys..." Duan Ming just opened his eyes and was about to speak when his vision went dark and two men in black covered him with linen.

"Thank you!" The leading man in black clasped his fists at the three government officials: "Time is tight, I apologize for any offence."

Then with a wave of his hands, the two men in black put Duan Ming in the sack on the horse, and then drove away.

"Who the hell is this?" Zhu Wei shouted.

The middle-aged government servant looked at the backs of the men in black, frowned and said nothing...
