Chapter 59

Lin Cheng glanced at the opposite side. The door was wide open, and Zheng Shiyan could not be seen. She wondered if she was cooking in the kitchen.

“Eunxi, do you want to come in?”

The little girl shook her head, but she did not turn around and go back to her home. She just stood in the corridor and stared at Lin Cheng blankly.

Lin Cheng couldn't help but said: "It's very cold outside, why don't you go back first."

The little girl shook her head stubbornly and stared closely at the bowl in Lin Cheng's hand.

 “Uncle, you eat.”

Lin Cheng looked at the rice cake soup in his hand and asked a little uncertainly: "Enxi, are you waiting for the bowl in my hand?"

"Um."

The little girl responded in a low voice. She still remembered that her mother said that she would take the bowl back when her uncle finished eating.

Seeing the little girl shrinking down in the cold outside, Lin Cheng felt it was both funny and pitiful.

 This silly baby.

Lin Cheng couldn't wait to take a sip of the hot rice cake soup, and quickly opened his mouth and sucked in the cold air.

Very fragrant, but a bit hot.

“Wow~~~it’s so delicious. This is the most delicious rice cake soup I’ve ever had in Korea.”

Hearing Lin Cheng's words, the little girl couldn't help but grin.

The rice cake soup was so hot that Lin Cheng knew that he couldn't finish it in two mouthfuls, so he simply sat down in the entrance hall.

“Eunxi, can you please come in? It’s very cold outside because of the wind.”

Enxi blinked her eyes, tilted her head and thought for two seconds, then moved and stood in the door.

The little girl is like this. When it comes to adults, she always likes to think about it with her little head before deciding what to do.

It just so happens that her little head is still a little unclear when thinking about problems, which always makes people feel stupid.

So, Lin Cheng did something he had never done during the Spring Festival in the past twenty years: he sat in the entrance hall and ate rice cake soup, while a little girl stared at him.

Lin Cheng scooped up a piece of white rice cake and handed it to the little girl, "Has Enxi eaten rice cake soup? Do you want a piece of rice cake?"

“Eunxi waits for mom to eat together.”

The little girl shook her head vigorously and answered quickly this time.

“Well, uncle, you can eat it yourself.”

Lin Cheng buried his head and ate it with big mouthfuls. Even though it was quite hot, Lin Cheng still finished the rice cake soup quickly under the watch of the little girl.

"for you."

The little girl took the bowl and held it tightly in her arms like a treasure.

“Wait a minute, Enxi, please wait for your uncle first.”

Seeing the little girl turn around to leave, Lin Cheng turned around and ran into the back room, taking out a white envelope with the little girl's name Zheng Enxi neatly written in Chinese, as well as some simple blessings.

Influenced by Chinese culture, both Japan and South Korea have the habit of giving lucky money to children, but Koreans are accustomed to using white envelopes with names written in Chinese on them.

“Hey! Enxi, I hope you will grow up healthily and happily in the new year.”

The little girl stared blankly at the envelope handed out by Lin Cheng, blinking her eyes as if she didn't understand the situation.

“Hasn’t Enxi ever received a red envelope before?”

Lin Cheng was a little unsure, "Your elders, um~~~grandparents didn't give Enxi a red envelope?"

The little girl held the bowl and stared at the white envelope and whispered: "Eunxi only has her mother."

Lin Cheng opened his mouth, knelt down and stuffed the red envelope into the little girl's arms.

“Hey! From now on, my uncle will prepare red envelopes for Enxi. Enxi will grow up happily.”

The little girl didn't say anything. She lowered her head and looked at the red envelope in her arms, looking very interested.

“Okay, Enxi, go back to accompany your mother.”

The little girl nodded slowly, turned around with a red envelope and a small bowl in her arms, walked to the opposite door and seemed to think of something again, turned around and looked at Lin Cheng, who was still standing in the entrance hall, and said hesitantly:

"uncle."

"Um?"

"Happy New Year."

Lin Cheng laughed and said, "Happy New Year, Enxi."

Back in the room, Lin Cheng had just sat down in front of the computer when the doorbell rang again.

Seeing Zheng Shiyan hand over two Korean coins with a face value of 50,000, Lin Cheng had no choice but to say, "Sister Shiyan, this is the New Year's money I gave Eunxi, please just leave it alone, okay?"

“I know, so I didn’t confiscate her red envelope.”

Zheng Shiyan nodded, “This is the New Year’s money I gave you.”

Lin Cheng: "·····"

The little girl poked her head behind to watch, and waved the envelope in her hand towards Lin Cheng, as if she thought her uncle would be as happy as she was when he received the new year's money.

Sighing helplessly, Lin Cheng no longer refused and showed a big smile to the little girl.

“Enxi, look, uncle also has lucky money.”

The little girl nodded vigorously, holding the red envelope in her arms and grinning innocently.

At twelve o'clock in the evening, Lin Cheng called Han Shuyan in Ulsan on time to wish her new year. By the way, Lin Cheng also told an interesting story about the red envelope she had just received. Han Shuyan listened carefully and chatted for more than half an hour before Lin Cheng felt a little reluctant.

Hang up the phone.

Lin Cheng always felt that chatting with Han Shuyan was very relaxing. She always listened to him quietly and carefully, but it was different with Xiao Tong. Xiao Tong could not help but quarrel with him.

At one o'clock in the morning, which happened to be midnight in China, Lin Cheng also called Xiao Tong in China.

It was very lively at Xiao Tong's place. It seemed like a big family was gathering together. They talked vaguely to Lin Cheng for a few words and then hung up the phone.

On the first day of the Lunar New Year, Lin Cheng stayed at home alone with nothing to do. Early in the morning, he called his parents and relatives one by one to wish him a happy new year.

The phone call from his mother made him a little dizzy.

“Son, the New Year’s money has been transferred to your bank card. Don’t wrong yourself outside.”

“Yo! I still have lucky money this year.”

Lin Cheng expressed his happiness in a dignified manner, "You can just send it to me via WeChat."

“WeChat transfer has a limit, I’m too lazy to get it.”

“Mom, how much money did you transfer to me? I still have a lot of money in my card now.”

Lin Cheng felt something was wrong, "Don't transfer money to me every day if you have nothing to do. I can't keep up with my spending. If you continue like this, I will have enough money saved after graduation to buy a house."

"How can that be done? You have not been frugal since you were a child, but don't be embarrassed to speak because you are alone outside."

Mother Lin said seriously: "Your father and I were thinking, you haven't done anything serious for three years in college, and you still don't have a girlfriend. Is it because the money we gave you is too little?"

Lin Cheng: "·····"

No, what is the purpose of university in your eyes?

Collaborating on a relationship is the right thing to do?

Lin Cheng sighed, "This kind of thing can't be rushed. I'm really not very frugal. It's because you gave me too much. It's so much that I can't even spend it on a two-room apartment by myself."

“Not too much, not too much.”

Lin's mother said rationally: "I read on the Internet. Those college students in China are saying on the Internet that seven or eight thousand a month is not enough. I wonder if prices in South Korea are so high, if you have another girlfriend, the cost will be even greater.

Well, shouldn’t I give you more living expenses?”

Lin Cheng was silent for a while.

“Mom, if you have nothing to do, please stop reading Weibo and Zhihu.”
