Feliche Monk shook his head, threw out the ridiculous thought, and then clamped the emperor's badge on his chest wall. He placed his hand on the pass device and waited for the door to recognize him.
The door opened at the right time, and Felice Monk stood at the entrance of the cabin, ahead of which was the main passage through the upper deck, but for some reason the lights went out.
He tried desperately to see through layers of darkness, but nothing was there, and all he heard was silence.
The normal background noise on the ship, including the noisy hissing sound when the pipe leaked, was completely gone, and the creaking sound when the servant was operating.
The world is silent.
Captain Felice Monk slowly turned around, and all his senses were adjusted to the apex.
He was sure that there was something in that void.
If this was an attack, it would be different from what he had known before.
But what will attack him?
For a moment, the captain stood at the entrance of the cabin, feeling a little uncertain.
He sent the servant master as bait, but if his intuition was correct, those lurking in the dark might not be as simple as pirates.
Finally, he chose to return to the cabin.
"Now I need a team to check it out with me."
A minute later, Filiche Monk and his escort squad were slowly crossing the hard road toward the passage connecting the command bridge to the cargo ship, and he had to know if the enemy was coming for cargo.
The captain is in the middle of the queue, and everyone has visual contact with people on both sides, which means they are actually at the distance of contact.
The darkness moved around them, hovering, retreating, and then swallowing them again.
All he could hear was the crunch of boots stomping on the hard metal floor, and the nervous breath of people expecting something to appear in the darkness.
But when they arrived at the cargo hold entrance, there was no more surprise than a frightened gunshot.
"There is no one here, sir."
The news was conveyed to Captain Felice Monk by the commander's line, and he walked to the front of the team to see it himself.
The cargo hold is the top priority of this ship and is also the most direct target of the enemy, so manual turrets are set up at both ends of the entrance.
But now both turrets are empty.
The captain looked at the laser cannon, and the cannon was hanging low, with spots of foggy condensation on it.
He put his hands on it, and the barrel was cold. It opened no fire, no signs of chaos, no blood, and no bullet marks.
It was like the gunners just stood up and disappeared into the fog.
The same is true for another gun position, a cold gun, some of the few personal items of the guards, but the guards themselves disappeared.
Just as Captain Filiche Monk checked it, one of his guards came over.
"Captain, we are missing one person."
"Impossible! Report the number!"
His squad was neither attacked nor showed signs of attack. These were retired experienced soldiers with strict discipline.
If someone is killed, they will hear it.
But when the call was approaching, Feliche Monk realized that the team was missing two people, not one.
It seemed that the two people at the end had disappeared and disappeared into the darkness, just as frost melted under the rising sun.
Anyway, no matter what happened, they had no chance to warn them.
"Everyone is on guard! All lighting equipment is turned on."
While giving orders, he glanced back at the path they walked.
Why not stop and return to the command cabin?
Filiche Monk hates being hunted for something he can't see.
"Look back."
Feliche Monk stood in the center of a tight formation and pushed the team forward.
But after walking a few steps, he realized something was wrong.
"Call the name."
Sure enough, there were only six people left, and two more disappeared in silence, obviously right in front of him.
The captain looked around.
"Has anyone seen something? It's good to hear anything?"
The men in his reduced squad shook their heads, all their eyes looked out, staring at the floating darkness, which covered everything they were hunting them.
"Ahhhh! Get out!"
In the horrifying atmosphere, someone finally couldn't hold back. A guard suddenly roared and fired with his low-power laser gun. The bullet whizzed past the charged fog, and the others followed suit, firing blindly in the same direction.
But Philipchi Monk heard the hissing sound of the scorched flesh in the misty blank space, which only shows one thing-
What did they hit?
Then, a figure appeared in the fog and walked towards them staggeringly.
The laser rifle locked it.
but…
"etc!"
The figure staggered closer, gradually becoming smaller and more familiar until it appeared in the faint field of vision left to them.
This is one of them, one of the four missing people, and despite several burn marks of laser hit on him, he approached and raised his hands to ensure that he would not hurt others.
Finally, he suddenly fell forward to the ground.
"Flip him over."
The remaining two men bent down at him and began to turn him over, but retreated again.
His face disappeared, his slightly open jaw seemed to want to speak, but what he wanted to say ended up just turning into a constant blister of blood.
Philipchi Monk stared at the people on the ground, his expression representing his mood at the moment.
"This, what the hell is this?"
One of them asked in horror, but when his question was still hanging, the man disappeared backwards as if the mist itself had caught him and dragged him away.
The team members ignored their comrades and fired in the direction where the man disappeared, and suddenly shot several laser bullets and physical ammunition.
Philipchi Monk tried to order them to stop, but his order disappeared into the gunfire and could only catch the person next to him.
"Stop shooting."
He turned to the man opposite and raised his arms.
"Stop shooting."
The silence surged back again, and Feliche Monk turned his head and listened, trying to figure out where they were.
But when he turned to listen, he saw a blank space around him—
There was another person there just now.
He quickly looked at the other side, and the man disappeared.
Silence was like sharp claws holding his heart, sweat flowing from his hair to his face, gathering on his weapon, dripping to the ground.
Suddenly, a blurry black shadow emerged from the fog, and the wetland pounded on the ground in front of his feet.
"this--"
Philipchi Monk took a sudden step back, and it was a human head, a human head he was very familiar with-
