Chapter 316 Falling Down

The demonized cathedral raised the south tower, preparing for the next attack.

"Fire at that window!"

Alec ordered.

He's not done yet and can still fight.

Although the window no longer looked like stained glass and more like scales, it still shimmered faintly in the reflected light of the explosion.

Yaric didn't know if they were weaknesses, but at least they were targets that could be targeted, a means of maintaining the will of the troops.

Battle cannons, heavy bolters, laser cannons, and rocket launchers shot through the darkness and into the cathedral's stone walls.

An overlapping shock wave passed through the wall and shattered part of the glass.

Then the tune of the cathedral's singing changed.

"We can hurt it!"

Yarrick shouted, truly believing it.

"Devil! We can hurt you!"

But Yarick's idea failed to be put into action. The towering south tower collapsed without deflecting, hitting the ground with the force of a meteor.

North Tower...

The north tower towered over his troops.

Alex saw its movement and guessed its intention, and his heart immediately went cold.

Although he had enough time to realize what was about to happen, there was no time to escape his fate. They were too close, or not far enough.

More importantly, the tower is too huge. If they want to escape, they still have too much distance to go.

But time is not on their side.

In just a moment, his troops were shrouded in the shadow of the North Tower.

The tower seemed to pause before sinking.

Maybe it was just an illusion, the scale of the attack was so large that it even deceived the eyes.

"Retreat from its flanks!"

Yarrick screamed to the crowd:

"Against the wall!"

Without him saying anything, many soldiers had already started running away.

This game is desperate and the chances are slim.

But maybe, maybe they were too close to the church for its mountainous arms to reach them.

Alex raised his head. The shadow was heavier and deeper than the night, and it was getting bigger and bigger.

The wind blew straight down. Yarrick's hat was lifted up, his hair trembling in the breath of disaster, while the commander worked hard to bring the Chimera to the edge of the shadow.

At the last second, in this long and short time, Alex was still full of hope.

Then, the sky fell.

It shattered the ground and destroyed the world.

The rock face exploded, and Yarrick flew through a hurricane of stone and metal.

Reality was shattered by endless thunder. The young political commissar kept falling down, being knocked around by small stones, and then fell into the boundless darkness.

Finally, he couldn't feel anything anymore——

"You can't stop this!"

The devil shouted in the strong wind:

"Praise the Lord of Joy! It is the truth! It is the only one! It is heaven!!"

The screams of Slaanesh resounded through the sky, and their voices were far louder than the frenzied voices of the demons in the church.

In a sense, this is the most terrifying attack. Soshyang has to endure the howling every second. In order to protect the world, he cannot be swallowed by the spiritual storm.

Now they are on the defensive, or at a disadvantage.

The cathedral dropped a tower on them in the first few seconds of its activity. The Space Marines discovered its attack intention in time and were able to quickly get out of the attack range.

After the terrible shock, when the south tower rose again, the north tower fell vertically.

The Space Marines had to move south and west, escaping the second attack by seconds.

They have been dodging attacks ever since.

Even those armored forces had to stay away from the battlefield. Their weapons had no way to deal with this behemoth, unless they came with a poison blade or shadow sword.

But obviously, neither the Astral Knight nor the Soul Drinker has these things.

The cathedral was immersed in a majestic, sustained, savage fury.

Its attack was like the roar of a volcano reaching down the mountain where the ruins of buildings were piled up. The demons were galloping along the damaged streets, scurrying around aimlessly.

The entire city is collapsing bit by bit, but the Empire is unable to regain the initiative.

The only hope was the flying formations in the air, which circled to the front of the cathedral and fired at the eyes on the towers.

Although the Cathedral did not take the Stormraven and Thunderhawk seriously, the swinging towers still nearly hit these vehicles several times, forcing them to attack from a longer distance.

And they still have no chance of beheading the giant beast.

The artillery fire from the rear continued, but the effect was not obvious. The cathedral slowly squirmed under the bombardment.

In front of Soshyan, a shell suddenly fell, and the flames blocked their path, but then he leaned toward the destruction and continued on.

The devil's song had been lashing out against them all the while, a spiritual attack as sharp as a cathedral's swipe.

When they reached the foot of the mountain of rubbish in the city's ruins, Farzad shouted:

"It will destroy the city and then catch up with us."

"Believe me, it can't be done."

"Why?"

"We knew it when we destroyed it."

In fact, Soshyang knew very well that this monster pursued them so persistently not out of anger, but out of fear.

He can harm its essence, which does not want this to happen and protects itself with the shell of reality.

At this time, the barricade collapsed behind them, and ahead lay the area destroyed by earlier artillery fire.

The team of Astral Knights is now in a ruins without any cover. The cathedral breaks out from the front of the ruined street, stumbling forward like a giant predator.

The ground shook with the impact, and then the south tower rose, the Eye of Hell looking down on the Space Marines.

The way the monster raised its arms showed the angle of its strike.

The cathedral's movement is unstoppable, but it's also huge and slow, like a capital ship sailing through space.

Space Marines can anticipate its attack and move out of its path.

They turned left first, then south, toward the edge of the clearing.

"Hmm, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!"

The demon's spiritual roar exploded in Soshyan's mind, as if a death knell was ringing on his head.

Although he did not waver, he heard labored breathing coming from the communicator. It was obvious that the demon was also attacking his brothers with the same curse.

But the soldiers persevered tenaciously, and everyone strictly guarded their inner shields to prevent the singing from having any chance.

When Golgri passed by Soshyan, he slowed down.

Soshyan turned around and saw that Golgri suddenly became a little hesitant, then his steps slipped and he almost fell.

Realizing that something was wrong, Soshyang stretched out his arm towards him.

But then Gorgli stumbled again.

His arms drooped and he fell to his knees, and in the communicator, his breathing hissed from fatigue and pain, mixed with subtle murmurs.

And all the devil needs is one small mistake.

At this moment, the waves of the soul kept hitting the rock of faith, and finally a crack was created.

One wrong, extremely exhausting moment, and the cracks opened.

"brother?"

Amid Soshyan's exclamations, Gorgli fell.
