Chapter 667 Dark Moment

"Everyone, please pay attention to see if there are any other leads."

Hartman warned, tucking a strand of dirty brown hair from the back of his head under his helmet.

After a few minutes of observation, he found that there was nothing unusual, so he said softly:

"Let's keep walking. If there were any greenskins nearby, they would have been targeting us long ago. This low-level trap should have been prepared a few weeks ago."

Everyone nodded in agreement. Although they were tired and hungry, no one wanted to stay in this area full of traps.

So the team began to move forward cautiously again, this time with Hartmann leading the way, Lunent and Epirus at the side, and Vannis and Glass taking care of the rear.

"Where are we, sir?"

Soon after, Epirus began to complain again, and while walking, his eyes continued to scan the ground in case he encountered any other leads.

"It stands to reason that since we are so far away from the defense line, we should encounter someone."

"Can't you do something else?"

Lunante interrupted him.

"Save your energy."

Epirus looked at him in annoyance and fell silent behind him.

The mist rising from the ruins turned the air into an eerie white. The path everyone walked became steeper and steeper, as if they were trekking on a mountain path.

Suddenly, Hartmann quietly stretched out his hand to signal the team to stop and not move. After waiting for a few minutes, he turned around and started talking softly to everyone.

"The shelter ahead is starting to become sparse. We need to be careful. We may step into the greenskin camp at any time. We can't tell where their range of activities has changed."

They crawled quietly in the forest like ghosts, minimizing the possibility of being discovered.

Suddenly, along with the sound of a gunshot, there was a scream in the darkness about fifty meters away, followed by Glass's voice.

"Greenskin!"

The recruit shouted with uncontrollable fear.

"spread!"

Hartman gave the order, and everyone picked up their weapons and hid in the bunker, trying to distinguish the green skin's figure from the vast darkness.

Then the laser gun rang out again, then another shot, and then everything fell silent.

Something was moving in the darkness, something big, quite big.

In the book "Imperial Infantry Advanced Manual", there is a section called "Patrol and Ambush", which describes in detail how to use the bayonet correctly for silent killing.

There were illustrations inside, and Hartman clearly remembered that the picture showed how an Imperial Guardsman used a bayonet to cut an Greenskin.

The green guy in the picture is about 1.2 meters tall, has a big belly, and is ridiculous.

But now he was sure that the green man was not 1.2 meters tall, nor was he paunchy, nor was he ridiculous.

Green skin is terrifying.

Suddenly, Hartman saw something and raised his weapon - the visibility in the dark was only about ten meters, but a fully grown greenskin was not difficult to find.

He discovered that it was slowly walking through the ruins, holding what he thought could be called a homemade heavy logging gun.

The thing was crudely made, and it looked like it was casually welded from scrap metal. What's more, to Hartman's surprise, the weapon was spray-painted in shiny red and contained a huge drum-shaped ammunition box.

Even though it was a bit incredible, Hartmann had no doubt about the effectiveness of this weapon.

Because in the past few months, more than 3,000 people in their entire regiment were killed and wounded by such weapons.

As soon as he raised his gun, the greenskins spotted them.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!

The greenskin roared and fired before trying to aim. This gave Hartman a gap to bury himself in the dirty mud at his feet to avoid it.

The sound of the green-skinned weapon was deafening, and the thing jumped up and down in the rough green hands like a living thing, but as mentioned before, its power was not simple.

Da da da--

The large-caliber bullets poured out wildly from the gleaming logging guns, whizzing past the heads of the team and shattering the remaining walls.

Lunengte lay on the ground and fought back with all his strength, but missed.

Hartman noticed that there was a long laser gun burn mark on the green skin's left shoulder, which was where Glass had hit it before, but it seemed that this injury did not affect its movements at all.

Suddenly, the gunfire stopped.

With an annoyed growl, the greenskin hurriedly took cover and reloaded ammunition. Hartman realized that the opponent was also surprised by this encounter, so he immediately got up and ran to the flank and tried to outflank him, while the others kept shooting.

Cover my actions.

When the greenskin's terrifying logging gun roared again, Hartman just happened to get into the collapsed roof of an iron shed. He fired from that position and shot the beast hard in the back.

This green-skinned creature had no protection on its back, and the laser burned through its skin, making it very angry and spinning around in circles waving the logging gun that was still firing.

Bullets suddenly flew into the sky, and Hartman was so frightened that he quickly fell to the ground.

The greenskin bent over and roared, being seriously injured but still unable to die. Although Hartman knew that the greenskin was indeed very durable, this was a bit too fierce.

Lunante fired again, which also received a deafening response, the huge weapon spraying tongues of fire.

Suddenly, with a harsh noise, it jammed.

Hartmann seized this moment and jumped out of hiding.

"Kill it!"

Everyone focused their fire on it and shot it wildly, beating it to pieces in one go.

"Target cleared."

After taking several deep breaths, Hartman finally spoke out, and everyone leaned forward.

"It's getting quieter."

Regarding Lunante's words, Hartman just nodded in agreement.

The green-skinned firearms were so loud that they could be heard within three miles, but now even the sound of the laser gun could not be heard.

This chapter is not over yet, please click on the next page to continue reading! Everyone took advantage of this moment to replace the laser gun with a new energy box.

"This place is very dangerous. We must move immediately."

Vannis stopped suddenly and put a hand on Hartmann's arm to stop him.

"Wait a minute, I heard something coming from over there."

Hartman turned around, heard the footsteps, and immediately raised his gun.

Whoosh!

In the darkness, three sharp calls suddenly sounded. After Hartmann was stunned for a moment, he immediately responded with a whistle, only five times.

"Oh my god, I didn't expect to meet a living person here."

Soon, a group of soldiers came out of the darkness, about twenty people.

"Which army are you from?"

"We are from the 537th Infantry Regiment."

The leading legion was stunned for a moment when they heard this number.

"Uh... weren't you all wiped out ten days ago?"

Hartman resisted the anger of punching the opponent in the face and whispered:

"That's almost it."

The other party also noticed his gaffe and waved his hand.

"Sorry, brother, I was just saying casually, how many of you are left?"

"It's all here."

"Well, it seems that your situation is not good. There have been quite a few troops like yours that have withdrawn here and there in the past few days. There are hundreds of people and a dozen or so of them. They all escaped after the position fell.

We encounter them every day during our patrols, but recently there are almost none. Maybe you are the last batch, and this patrol should also be the last one. The number of greenskins is increasing."

Hartman immediately heard the mystery behind the other party's words.

"Were many positions lost at the same time?"

"The entire Rust District has been lost, with dozens of regiments trapped inside."

"Why is it so sudden?"

The other party pointed to the ground with his finger.

"Things are even worse there."

Hartman nodded understandingly.

"Okay, let's not say so much. You just exchanged fire with the greenskins. It is expected that reinforcements will be attracted soon. Let's withdraw quickly."

"Is the 39-12 defense zone okay?"

"I can only say it's not that bad, but I can't say it's good."

Afterwards, Hartman and his party left the place with the patrol, but the defense battle of Hades's nest had just entered its darkest moment——
