Chapter 76: Mine Fright (Part 2)

A whole group of deadly creatures living in the cesspool pounced on them at high speed. They looked similar to spiders, but they had no carapace and only weird exposed skin, similar to human skin. Each one was as big as an adult male.

They had obviously discovered their prey and rushed over desperately, thousands of them, their dark green compound eyes glowing like will-o'-the-wisps in the darkness.

Although there are many of them, Soshyan is confident that he can fight them off in the open ground.

But here, in such a complex environment, eight space warriors may not be able to escape unscathed from this unknown creature.

In order to avoid unnecessary casualties, Soshyan decided not to engage in a head-on conflict

Then that narrow trail suddenly becomes a safer option.

"Go here!"

Soshyan waved his hand and asked Thor to lead the other six warriors into the narrow path, while he stayed behind.

The vanguard of the biogroup had begun to appear on the cliff behind them. Soshyan fired a shot in the general direction, and then a scream pierced the air.

Even though he didn't aim carefully at all, because his shooting instincts were so good, the first thing immediately burst like a balloon filled with confetti.

Several similar people behind immediately stopped to enjoy this unexpected meal.

But the other monsters continued to charge, approaching like a big wave.

"It looks like the reason why those workers disappeared has been found."

Not long after Soshyan entered the trail, he discovered that the road turned out to be trumpet-shaped and began to narrow, forcing him to move sideways.

At this time, he began to worry that he had led everyone to a dead end.

"But they never mentioned such dangerous native creatures."

Armin subconsciously took up the challenge again, walking as fast as he could in front of Soshyan - but not that fast, because not only did he have to maintain his own balance, but he also had to always pay attention to whether there was anything approaching above his head.

Soshyan stood behind and fired accurately with his pistol, but every time he killed one, more appeared.

"They're above us!"

Armin suddenly screamed, but Soshyan had noticed the danger before. These spider-like creatures covered in human skin were clinging to the cliff and spreading above their heads.

They were like blood spurting from a cut artery, rushing in front of them and cutting off the road.

The first monster to climb the road turned to face them, its jaws chattering like a man's teeth in the cold wind.

Thor, the leader, shot it to pieces, but only gained a second or two.

"We are surrounded."

Soshyan told everyone, and turned to look back, but it was impossible to turn back along the way. These creatures had completely blocked the road from top to bottom, and the only weapons were meaningless against such a huge number.

"keep going."

But Thor gave the instructions calmly. It was surprising that he could remain so calm.

"There is a way ahead"

Although his words are usually unpredictable, at least they sound confident, and it is precisely because of his keen insight and mature experience that Soshyan decided to take him with him.

"good!"

Soshyan used a burst of rapid fire to clear away the human-skin spiders behind him.

He had already used up one magazine, but there was no point in saving ammo under the circumstances.

Thor, who was at the front, had already rushed out of the passage. His sword cut through the darkness like a meteor, cutting several monsters into pieces.

More warriors then rushed out and met these creatures with bullets and sharp blades.

Soshyan was the last one to rush out of the passage. While changing his magazine, he hurried forward when he suddenly stepped on the stagnant blood and the slippery moss, and almost slipped.

But then he breathed a sigh of relief - what Sol said was indeed true, there was a crack just a few meters away, and the light was looming.

"You go down first."

Thor, who was swinging his sword and splashing out bursts of blood, suddenly spoke to Soshyan through the communicator.

"After confirming that it is safe down there, we will go down."

Without enough time to think about it, Soshyan lowered his head and got in.

But he didn't expect that the crack was actually slanted and very slippery.

Caught off guard, he slid down a steep cave with his head down, and was almost likely to hit the ground hard and awkwardly.

Soshyan forced himself to calm down and raised his arms to protect his head. Although this made it difficult for him to see ahead, it was enough to protect his vitals.

During this process, he heard the sound of running water and thought he was about to fall into a pool or underground river.

But in the end it didn't.

Just when he didn't know how long he had been sliding, he suddenly rushed out of the cave and landed heavily on a thick mat of moss that exuded a foul odor.

The posture was unsightly, but at least it landed safely without breaking any parts.

"It's safe down there."

As he was speaking, the sounds of fierce fighting could already be heard in the communicator.

"Armin, get down!"

This was Thor's voice, and Soshyan immediately rolled to one side to ensure that he would not be hit by the following subordinates.

Soon, Armin slipped out of the cave.

"How disgusting."

He stood up and looked at the relatively soft landing with disgust, as well as the residue left on his power armor. The blood of those monsters and the newly stained moss turned the original silver gray into a dirty dark green.

"So you'd rather fall on a rock?"

After hearing Soshyan's words, the young warrior shrugged.

"of course not."

Then, the soldiers slipped out of the hole one after another.

The last person to appear was Thor. His posture was perfect and he was the only one who could land on both feet.

"This thing was probably dug out by those monsters."

Thor looked back at the cave.

"They don't look like they have this ability."

"No, there should be."

Thor raised his right hand and showed the shallow burn marks on his arm armor to everyone.

"Their saliva is corrosive and may not be very strong, but as long as there is enough time, it is not difficult to dig such a channel."

Soshyan stepped forward and observed the edge of the cave, and found that there were indeed signs of looking down. He also recalled that the smooth inner wall before did not look like it was naturally formed.

"So, this place may be full of monsters like this, so please be careful."

As he spoke, he carefully observed the surrounding environment.

This is a quite huge space, with no end as far as the eye can see. In addition to stalactites and pools of water, there are many mosses and underground plants everywhere.

But there are no traces of any man-made artifacts.

"Huh? What is this?"

Armin suddenly made a gesture and pointed to a soft light source in the distance. Soshyan turned his head to look and found that those things that looked like trees looked quite beautiful.

At first glance, all the trees seemed to have no leaves or even branches, but he couldn't be entirely sure because the lower parts of the trees were tightly wrapped around some kind of pale plant.

At this time, Soshyan noticed a detail.

"It seems that the spacing between the clumps of things is consistent. It doesn't seem to be the result of random growth."

"Sir, you mean someone planted them?"

Soshyan shook his head.

"Or maybe built them."

Saul then added,

"So until we examine them carefully, we won't know for sure whether they are organic or not."
