Chapter 8 Seventh Company

When Captain Everridge of the 7th Company and his soldiers advanced steadily, the road ahead looked like a large tangled metal network.

The huge obsidian statue in the distance looks like a looming sleeping predator.

When the company commander rushed to the end of the passage and outside the open hall, the stench of blood wafted from the slaughterhouse and penetrated into his air intake grille. A battle had obviously occurred here, and fragments of power armor and

Broken limbs and broken arms were scattered on the ground.

Just when Everridge was sure that they had not been discovered, a group of immortals armed with gauss guns appeared in front of them and blocked their way.

In an instant, a dark green flash illuminated the half-dark passage.

Yarok, the flag bearer next to Everridge, was hit in the chest by two Gaussian rounds. The powerful energy tore his armor apart and blood spattered out.

The flag-bearer twisted and fell to the ground, his primary and secondary hearts both ruptured.

"Battle formation!!"

Everidge stretched out his hand to hold Lian Qi and handed it to the adjutant on the side.

The squad relied on complex frames on both sides. As the Space Marines tried to shorten the distance between them and the enemy and gain the advantage, a Scorpion-shaped undead vehicle suddenly rose from the ground and fired its main cannon.

boom!

A blazing pillar of fire shot into the air, like an ink stain in the water.

At the edge of the shock wave, the three Space Marines were thrown away by the force of the impact and slammed into the metal siding nearby. The siding did not succumb to the sudden impact of a large amount of broken flesh and fine porcelain.

Even through his armor, Everridge felt the heat of the explosion blowing on his face, and the alarm sensors were chirping wildly.

He stumbled, but remained standing and shouted to direct the charge.

"For the Emperor!!"

When Second Company Commander Pilisse heard the explosion from the west and saw the smoke and flames billowing in the sky, he was sneaking closer through a secret passage.

They approached one of the energy nodes of the World Engine, but a dense wall of darkness filled the Space Marines' vision.

"Everidge, report,"

Chapter Master Amurad's voice came through the helmet communication array, and he noticed a sudden obvious heat signal on the tactical display.

"I'm afraid we've been discovered, Captain."

"Gather your troops and advance to the energy node!"

"Follow your orders, Captain!"

Everidge finished his reply, and then ordered his combat team to quickly leave the battlefield and pass through a maze of tubes, leading to the central passage where other teams he could contact concentrated on him.

As they advanced, Everidge took the lead, and the shadow cast by the huge platform overlooking the surface enveloped everyone.

Out of instinct, he raised his head and looked up, and saw a row of aliens holding gauss guns pointing down at them.

In the blink of an eye, decomposition rays hit them like raindrops.

Everage rolled and hid in the shadow of the statue.

The company's other lieutenant, Grace, was distracted and sluggish. He paid the price for his laxity when a fiery beam blasted a hole in his torso and cooked the Space Marine into his armor.

.

With a loud clang, he fell to the ground.

Everidge responded with the roar of his bolt pistol, glimpsing his target above the chipped main beam as the statues were torn apart around him.

Under his leadership, the remaining Space Marines erected storm shields to avoid enemy fire and make detours.

Everridge clung to the nearest platform base and looked around, measuring the terrain and how to lead them the rest of the way to the energy node.

Several narrow passages are formed between the wall and the base, above which are observation platforms supported by metal brackets. In the distance are ring-framed anti-aircraft firepower, defense turrets and clusters of sensor probes.

As bolter fire continued to pin them down, Everridge backed up and slammed into the rock wall.

"Company Commander, we were ambushed!"

A soldier shouted in the communication array, trying hard to overcome the noisy environment. Even though he was shouting, his tone still seemed very calm.

There was a moment's pause after the message was sent, and a vague voice interrupted.

"Support is on the way."

The brief reply quickly disappeared, and Everidge could only vaguely judge that it might be Sosh Yang's voice.

After the second round of counterattacks, a series of small explosions swept across the observation platform, sending debris flying like a shower.

A tactical team arrived to provide support.

Everage stood up and shouted the order before the smoke from the explosion dissipated.

"Don't give them time to react! Kill them! Kill them now!"

The Astartes broke cover and charged, leaving the dead behind.

Two hundred stiff-paced undead formed a queue and emerged from several passages, and immediately began to counterattack.

"Fire!"

As soon as Everridge roared, he immediately felt the air waves of bolter fire from the soldiers behind him who were obeying the order.

The effect of the volley was brutal, rows of aliens falling to the onslaught, corpses falling headlong into the midst of their kind, twitching and spinning under the bolter rounds.

Parts flew out in all directions, and the debris piled up like sandbags, tripping up the aliens following behind.

This was not a one-sided attack, as some Space Marines were also killed by the enemy's counterattack, but the well-disciplined Astartes drew their melee weapons before the first batch of cannon fodder approached.

A Necromancer, as scarred and stained as an engineman, came to Everridge with a bladed Gauss rifle.

The Captain met the enemy with his screaming chainsword, slicing it into the alien's chest.

The undead did not die immediately and twisted the weapon in Everridge's hand.

Without pause, the Astartes flung the wretch away with such force that the wreckage spun through the air and crashed into its humble brethren.

The Seventh Company Commander then chopped down the second attacker with a low, sweeping sweep.

The captain of a tactical team came to Everridge with enthusiasm and confidence and joined the melee.

When he rushed into the enemy group, his broken limbs fell like raindrops, and his face without a helmet showed a terrifying anger.

Out of the corner of his eye, Everidge saw another comrade decapitating an enemy who tried to fire, which aroused even greater enthusiasm among the soldiers.

However, despite suffering ruthless and wanton slaughter, these despicable aliens refused to retreat. They were all soulless machines, with no concept of fear, and they would not be angry at the death of their own kind.

"Drive them back!"

Everidge gritted his teeth and roared, knocking an enemy over with one blow of his battle shield.

But when he was about to try his best, he suddenly fell backward, and two or three corpses fell on him from the ground. Even if these machines only had half of their bodies left, they were still capable of moving.

In a frenzy, he dropped his shield, but as he groped among the fallen corpses, he discovered the hilt of his chainsword.

Turning on the chain saw, Everidge cut through the metal to free himself.

But soon, countless hands grabbed him and tried to drag Astartes down. When he tried to get up, the cold hand bones grabbed his armor.

This is not the way humans fight, and few aliens are willing to die this way, even when there is something worth doing.

This is why the Astartes are such deadly warriors, they are the ultimate weapon against any enemy naturally possessed by fear, for a Space Marine can control and banish his own fear.

But the Necron are a different kind of enemy, one that not even the Space Marines can defeat.

"Damn it!"

Everidge said through his teeth. He got rid of a machine with only the upper half of his chest left, and stood up with the help of his comrades.

"Now we have to kill them all."

The company continued to advance surrounded by the undead, but a shot suddenly hit him in the side, and Everidge felt a violent burst of pain.

"Well!"

He stumbled, and that gave his enemies the opening they needed.

A sudden commotion of metallic Necrons pounced on the injured Astartes, before the weight of the attacker dragged him down, their cold touch flooding his senses.
