0365 Chapter Seven: The Wisdom of Mortals (Section 71)

While Zhen Cheng was busy arranging a trick to deal with Count Consremius, the Count's exploration team had already encountered greater trouble.

"We'd better go back, Lord Leckie." A faltering blood slave said. He has the initial level of [Pointing Light] and is one of the three captains sent by the earl to help Butler Leckie.

Another captain also echoed: "There are only four of us left in the team of twenty-four. Sir, even if we just return without success, there is no reason for the earl to hold us accountable for anything anymore."

!”

The voice of the third opponent came from the end of the team, and seemed very weak: "If we return now, we can at least convey back how deadly the dangers in the ruins are, the means to overcome desperate situations, and the anomalies that can be taught to explorers.

Otherwise, it will be like the previous team, unable to bring back any information, which would be the biggest dereliction of duty!"

The leading Butler Leckie sighed. His voice no longer had the calmness and ease he had in the Earl's Castle. Instead, there was a trace of frenzied paranoia:

"Listen, that voice is right ahead. I can guarantee that it will only take us no more than five minutes to reach the core of the ruins and figure out what secrets are hidden here."

Four people were filing into the ruins. Butler Leckie took the lead, and the three blood servant captains each held a weapon in one hand and held the shoulder of the person in front of them with the other hand.

As for the current situation around the ruins, no one knows whether it is the internal corridors of an ancient building or a natural underground cave; whether it has been transported to a sunny valley or whether it is in a bizarre alien world.

Because all four of them lost their eyes.

As soon as he finished speaking, his shoulder was suddenly pinched hard by the big hand supporting it, until it forced him to turn around.

"Sober up! Lord Leckie! Think about how we have come this far! Think about our current situation!" the first captain shouted:

"If the front is really the core of the ruins and the source of all dangers, do you think it is possible for us to get out of here alive?"

The captain behind also echoed: "Sir, we know your loyalty to the earl. But this is the same for each of us. This is destined by the blood flowing in our bodies, and it is an unquestionable fact.

But it is precisely because of this that we need to leave here alive and bring the information back to avoid greater losses to the earl."

Finally, a weak voice continued: "Sir, imagine this. If we all die here, what will happen next?

The reason why Your Excellency the Count is so eager to send you all in to explore this shows that the outsider whose origin is unknown and who suddenly intervenes in the Lower City puts great pressure on him.

If we all die inside, think about it, is it possible for the Earl to personally come down to explore under tremendous pressure?

But do you still remember the naturalist’s sigh at the entrance to the ruins? Do you still remember the wreckage of the escape capsule? This ruins is very ancient, and it is a legacy of the underlying cosmic technology.

It may be older than the history of our Royal Court of Vanbaea. At the very least, it is also the early days of the Royal Court, when the first generation of divine ancestors and emperors expanded their territory. Is that what the old doctor said?

Obviously, it is not something that can be considered at the limit of Xiacheng District's power, and it is not something that the Earl is capable of handling alone!"

The four people lost their eyes at the same time, not because of some kind of trap or curse, but because they were blinded by themselves.

Valley/span This team of explorers has a total of twenty-four people, including the four from Leckie, a total of twelve people who are the elite soldiers of Count Constable; four professional scholars, including archaeologists and naturalists

, historian and expert in arcane runes and traps;

The last eight people were the explorers who survived the first ruins exploration and came from eight different church forces.

Casualties began to appear as soon as they entered the first secret room of the ruins. This ancient ruin, buried deep underground for countless thousands of years, does not seem to be an ancient tomb or a place where knowledge is passed down, but a huge trap built entirely of distortion and malice.

.

The only purpose is to kill all those who dare to covet it.

With advance knowledge of danger and adequate preparations, the expedition team finally broke through the many malicious traps in the front of the ruins and arrived at a cave as intricate as an ant nest without any trace of man-made traces, after sacrificing six lives.

The six dead include three elite soldiers, a church member, a historian and a rune trap expert. Both the soldiers and the church explorers died from fatal traps in the ruins, but the two scholars died in very strange ways.

The first person to die was a historian. After seeing a relief mural, his eyes suddenly lit up and he studied it repeatedly for more than ten minutes.

Just when Leckie was considering leaving a soldier to accompany him to station and investigate, and leading the team to move forward, the old scholar suddenly shouted: "Oh my God! I understand! This is the place in mythology..."

As a result, his words stopped abruptly.

Looking back afterwards, Leckie felt that it was not that he suddenly didn't want to finish the second half of the sentence, but that he had lost the ability to speak.

At the same time, he seemed to have lost his vision at the same time, running around in panic with his hands stretched out; he also lost his hearing, completely ignoring the warnings and calls of the team members behind him.

In the end, he ran headlong into a mechanism that had been discovered and clearly displayed, and was smashed into pieces by the sudden falling of the ceiling slabs.

Leckie realized that there might be important clues in the mural, so he ordered people to take comprehensive photos of it, but he did not dare to try to interpret it inside the ruins.

In contrast, the rune trap expert was the last to die among the six.

This is a white-robed mage from the School of Peeping Eyes.

Like all the Secret Eye mages, he has demonstrated superb skills in cracking all traps along the way, as well as the fighting ability to wield his bastard fist like a mortal once he encounters a situation where he has to take action.

Leckie was actually quite grateful for the professional talents of this junior magician. Otherwise, given the level of danger they experienced along the way, it would have been normal to increase the number of deaths tenfold.

But just when the last rune formation was cracked, the most serious accident happened.

I don’t know if the white-robed mage’s rank is not enough, or if opening the passage is bound to mean sacrifice and danger. After the rune scholar completed the arcane arrangement, everyone saw the intricate natural passage for the first time...

His head exploded like a watermelon.
