Chapter 1: Waking Up

"I'm not dead?"

I opened my eyes tiredly, and the first thing I saw was the blood moon outside the window.

There were no stars in the dark night, only a blood moon emitting a faint light, which looked extremely strange.

With a breath of air, Meng Nan forced himself to sit up. He found himself wearing a hospital gown and lying in a ward.

The lights in the ward were flickering, but under the moonlight it was still possible to see clearly.

Black traces were faintly visible on the dilapidated walls and the other three empty beds. Meng Nan twitched his nose, and it smelled like blood.

Directly opposite the hospital bed was a rusty iron door with a rectangular flat peephole. The peephole was dark without any light.

There is a black pattern below the peephole that looks like a palm print.

Next to the palm print were scratches, which seemed to have been made with fingernails.

How much force was used to leave fingerprints and scratches on the iron door?

Meng Nan pulled the syringe off her arm. Inside was a blood-red liquid that was extremely turbid.

Whatever this is, it's definitely not a good thing in an environment like this.

At this moment, Meng Nan saw a line of bloody numbers on his arm:

44:44:44

Just then, the numbers started to change.

43, 42, 41, the last number gets smaller and smaller.

"Is this a countdown? What is its purpose? What will happen if it reaches zero?"

Meng Nan shook his head, his head was still a little hazy.

"These are all small questions. The most important thing is, why didn't I die? I should have died!"

Meng Nan moved his body. There was no severe pain, but both the movement and the touch were very real. It was not like a dream at all.

Then Meng Nan got off the ground. He didn't walk on tiptoes, nor did he feel light. He shouldn't be a ghost.

So what exactly is this place? Why are you here?

Why are you wearing a hospital gown? Why is there a bloody fingerprint on the chest of the hospital gown?

While confused, Meng Nan saw a pair of eyes staring at him through the peephole of the metal ward door not far away from the closed door.

It was pitch black, without the whites of its eyes, like two black iron balls embedded in the peephole, emitting a strange light.

This look was very familiar to Meng Nan. He had seen this "possessive" look countless times, just like the look of a five-year-old child seeing his favorite toy.

Cold and pure.

Meng Nan rushed over without any hesitation and opened the door.

If this was a prank, he wanted to see who the master of the prank was!

However, there was nothing outside the door, only a dilapidated scene, as if what Meng Nan had just seen was just an illusion.

Meng Nan trembled slightly, hesitated, and walked out of the ward wearing a hospital gown.

He looked around and saw that there was a dark corridor outside the ward, and the outline of a nursing station seemed to be visible not far to the right.

After hesitating for a moment, Meng Nan wanted to retreat to the ward, but the door of the ward had been closed at some point.

Meng Nan tried to push, but did not push away.

organ?

With no other choice, Meng Nan took a deep breath and walked cautiously towards the nursing station.

After all, compared to the other side where nothing can be seen, there is still a faint outline of the nursing station, hoping that there will be clues as to where this place is.

"Creak...crack".

Meng Nan had not taken a few steps when the door of a ward next to the nursing station slowly opened, and an arm stretched out. This arm was slender and white, without clothes, and looked like a withered bone.

The arms moved slightly, as if calling Meng Nan to come over.

Meng Nan frowned, gritted his teeth and walked over.

He had to confirm whether this was a prank or not!

However, at this moment, a ward door next to Meng Nan suddenly opened, and a pair of arms stretched out and hugged Meng Nan.

Feeling the temperature, Meng Nan's eyes flashed with a cold light. At the same time, his body relaxed without resistance, and he entered the ward with strength.

The door was closed tightly again.

"Don't make any noise, there is a ghost." The person who held Meng Nan covered Meng Nan's mouth with one hand, and at the same time said in Meng Nan's ear in an almost inaudible voice.

Meng Nan nodded and did not struggle, but still held the needle of the syringe tightly in his right hand.

At this moment, Meng Nan found four people sitting close to the corner of the ward.

A young man wearing glasses, a charming woman, a seemingly burly middle-aged man, and a slightly fat man.

They were all wearing hospital gowns, and they also had a line of blood on their arms.

The numbers are decreasing.

Just when Meng Nan was confused, there was a sudden rush of footsteps in the corridor.

"Thump thump thump thump!"

It seemed like someone was running past in the corridor.

After listening to the sound of running, Meng Nan could feel that the people behind him were obviously relieved and their bodies relaxed slightly.

"I..." The person behind Meng Nan relaxed his hands slightly and was about to speak.

"Thump thump thump thump!"

The voice actually came back and stopped outside the door.

Everyone held their breath, even Meng Nan was no exception.

Although he doesn't know what's out there, it's definitely not "clean."

Combined with the warning of the person who covered his mouth, Meng Nan had already guessed that there was probably a ghost outside.

After so many years, everyone who knows Meng Nan knows that Meng Nan has a weakness, that is, he is afraid of ghosts.

His courage is very strange. He can walk in the cemetery at midnight on July 14th, but he will never dare to go to the haunted house in the amusement park.

According to friends, sometimes Meng Nan is a staunch atheist, and sometimes she is a good baby who dare not put her feet out of the quilt at night.

Yes, Meng Nan is very afraid of ghosts, whether they are real ghosts or pretend ghosts.

Therefore, Meng Nan was very scared at this moment. A chill rushed straight to Tianling Gai. He was so scared that his whole body was trembling slightly, and he was so scared that he even forgot to breathe.

The sound outside the door disappeared and seemed to be gone. However, no one dared to relax, and several arms quietly pressed on the door.

"Bang!"

Suddenly, a strong force hit the door, and something outside wanted to come in!

The people behind Meng Nan and the burly man were holding the door tightly. Miraculously, the door didn't move at all.

Meng Nan was extremely surprised by this.

Normally speaking, even if such a sudden impact cannot open the door, it will at least knock the door. After all, it takes time for the human body to feel the impact and exert force to block the impact.

However, this door has not moved at all, which makes people lament how terrifying human potential is at this critical moment of life and death.

Sure enough, the "thing" outside the door was confused by the fact that the door had not moved at all, and they tried to knock it several times with the same result.

Then, a hand reached out from the peephole on the door and touched the lock on the door in an extremely weird gesture.

Meng Nan felt that all the hairs on his body were about to stand up. He had really seen a ghost!
