Chapter 25: Eleven Fifty Eight

When Lao Xie opened his eyes, it was still dark outside, and the old-fashioned wall clock hanging on the wall was swinging its pendulum, making a "click-click" sound.

The time shown above is eleven fifty-eight.

Lao Xie rubbed his head. It seemed that the two bottles of beer before going to bed made his head swell badly.

"I'm still old, just two bottles of beer."

Old Xie picked up a white porcelain jar filled with water from the edge of the bed, and then drank from it.

The cool white water entered the body down the throat, making the originally cloudy brain become much clearer.

It was pitch black outside, with no light at all.

Lao Xie stood up from the bed and moved his body. He felt that he had overlooked something, but he couldn't remember it.

Lao Xie shook his head and didn't care. He just thought that he had such a reaction because he drank too much the night before.

"Dong dong dong——"

The dull knock on the door sounded like a huge stone dropped on the silent water, causing the water to ripple and not calm down for a long time.

Hearing the sudden knock on the door, Old Xie almost lost his grip on the white porcelain jar in his hand.

"Who is it?"

Lao Xie didn't dare to rush forward and open the door.

This is an old city, and the security is not as good as in other urban areas. Being visited by thieves every three days is a common occurrence here. Many people who have the conditions have moved out of here long ago, leaving only some unwilling ones.

Those who have left and those who are incompetent remain here.

Lao Xie Tou had never experienced anything like today when someone suddenly knocked on the door in the middle of the night, but he had heard from other neighbors that as soon as you open the door, the people outside would knock you out and then loot your house.

.

The knocking on the door continued outside and seemed to have no intention of stopping.

What the neighbors once said about knocking on the door in the middle of the night and breaking into the house and robbing the house kept repeating in Lao Xie's mind, making the originally calm Lao Xie become more and more frightened. He always felt that the person knocking on the door outside was the person outside.

A thief breaks into a house and steals something.

"Who are you? There is no one you are looking for here, please leave quickly."

Lao Xie had the courage to shout this to the man outside who kept knocking on the door.

As if these words had an effect, as soon as the words fell, the knocking on the door stopped suddenly, as if it had never happened at all.

Old Xie stopped when he heard a knock on the door.

Stop, some can't believe it.

He bravely moved closer to the door again, and then put his ear against the door.

It was very quiet outside, there was no sound at all except my own breathing.

"left?"

Lao Xie was not sure about the situation outside, but he did not dare to open the door.

"Dong dong dong——"

The door was knocked again.

Lao Xie was startled by the sudden knock on the door.

"Who is it?"

This time Lao Xie turned on all the lights in the room, and the bright lights illuminated everything in the room.

Shattered robes and empty beer bottles were scattered on the ground.

As if to cheer himself up, Old Xie Tou held the empty wine bottle in his hand, and then shouted outside: "Get out of here, if you knock again, I won't be polite."

The sound is loud and powerful, but it seems to have no effect.

The knocking on the door paused for a second, then continued again.

Lao Xie was dressed roughly, as if he was really pissed off by the lunatic outside.

Lao Xie's face turned red, he took a deep breath, then suddenly pushed the door open, and swung the empty wine bottle in his hand without caring.

I originally thought that the wine bottle would shatter with the sound, or at least hit the opponent, but Lao Xie's bottle actually ended up empty.

The forceless feeling of hitting the air made Lao Xie stumble and almost fall to the ground.

"nobody?"

Lao Xie stood up and looked around with some surprise. In the dark corridor, only the indicator light of the safe passage in the distance was on. The dark green light looked so weird in the darkness.

Old Xie didn't want to stay in this weird corridor anymore, he wanted to go back.

When turning back to the room, Lao Xie casually glanced into the distance, which instantly sent shivers down his spine.

I only saw a figure appearing under the dark green light in the distance. The scene almost made Lao Xie faint from fear.

Lao Xie's head was covered in cold sweat.

"You...who are you?"

Old Xie made a trembling sound, and his legs kept swinging, unable to move a step at all.

The voice of the old man balding in the silent corridor could not be dissipated for a long time.

The black figure was still standing there, without answering or moving.

Like a motionless doll.

Lao Xie didn't dare to step forward to confirm, so he had to wait for his legs to gain some strength before preparing to return to the house as soon as possible.

When Lao Xie's legs could move a little, he turned around and entered the house without stopping, and then locked the doors one after another.

After all this was done, Lao Xie leaned his head against the door, as if all the strength in his body had been drained away.

"Ta, ta, ta -"

This time the sound in the corridor was no longer a knock on the door, but the sound of someone's leather shoes hitting the ground while walking.

Lao Xietou seemed to have remembered something. He straightened out his worn yellow Taoist robe, put down the empty wine bottle in his hand, and then took out a few wrinkled and shapeless yellow talisman papers from inside the Taoist robe.

The crimson runes were written crookedly on the yellow paper, which looked very unreliable.

This seems to be Lao Xie Tou's last resort.

He swallowed and murmured: "I don't know if this thing will work."

The footsteps were getting closer and closer, and the sound of each step was like a heavy hammer, hitting Lao Xietou's heart.

"I hope I'm just passing by."

Lao Xie was hiding behind the door, shivering and not daring to make a sound.

"Ta, ta, ta -"

He took a few more steps forward.

Lao Xie's heart was already in his throat.

"Ta, ta, ta -"

Judging from the sound, the footsteps should not be far from my home, as if they were only a few steps away.

"Ta, ta."

The footsteps stopped suddenly and seemed to stop in front of a certain door.

Lao Xie held his breath and listened quietly to everything going on outside.

"Dong, dong, dong——"

The nightmare-like voice sounded again, as if urging Lao Xie on the other side of the door to open the door quickly.

Lao Xie took a deep breath, suddenly opened the door, and then fiercely slapped the yellow talisman in his hand.

The piercing screams of the evil spirits that he imagined did not sound, but instead came to nothing like before.

Lao Xie cursed and threw the yellow talisman in his hand to the ground.

Then I looked around. Deep in the deep corridor, the dark green light was still flashing there, as if nothing had changed.

"What a ghost."
