184. Fate

One week later.

The danger is far away.

The madmen gradually disappeared.

The turmoil caused by SCT in Los Angeles has ended.

In an ordinary residential building.

The walls are covered with band posters, and there is a drum set and some musical instruments in the corner of the room. There is also a rather retro brick front and some license plate decorations.

With the alarm clock ringing loudly and the time showing that it was seven o'clock in the morning, Eugene woke up in a daze. She had not slept so comfortably in a long time and was about to slap the alarm clock to stop it.

But suddenly she remembered that today was a particularly important day, and she could not delay it no matter what.

Eugene got up quickly. She was the type who never tidied the bedding. She clicked the alarm clock, wore a cartoon-style sleepy dress, and went to the bathroom to wash up listlessly.

While brushing her teeth, her mouth was full of toothpaste foam, she came to the window, opened the curtains, and found that it was raining lightly outside, just as the weather forecast said.

Basic communications have gradually returned to normal, and news from the Meteorological Bureau can be received in Los Angeles.

After washing up, Eugene opened the refrigerator. It looked a little pitiful inside. Because of the big power outage some time ago, there was nothing fresh. There was only bacon and eggs that he bought yesterday. He was planning to make some breakfast, but found that he had no appetite at all.

Were you influenced by that bastard?

Eugene closed the refrigerator door and went to the closet to look for clothes.

She let out a long breath. She didn't have a dress or anything like that, but fortunately she still had a black suit. She put on a white shirt and put on the suit.

Eugene walked out the door neatly.

Too many police officers, soldiers, and members of Section 11 died in this turmoil.

New functional personnel have taken over the city hall. In order to restore the vitality of Los Angeles, symbolic things are indispensable, such as building cemeteries and erecting monuments for these people who defended peace.

An area was quickly designated, and the construction was completed in less than a week. It is close to Hollywood and close to the sea, and the scenery is extremely pleasant.

Although Gray disobeyed orders from the high command during her lifetime, her outstanding contributions cannot be denied.

Gray's funeral will be held today.

Ten o'clock in the morning.

In the quiet cemetery near Hollywood, one of the tombstones is particularly eye-catching. Because so many people came to pay their respects, it was surrounded by flowers expressing their condolences.

It was drizzling on a gray sky, and no one held an umbrella. They all came to pay homage in solemn black clothes.

The few surviving members of Section 11, Gray's comrades in the military, and many of her friends in the Countermeasures Bureau.

Including the top leaders of other departments.

The priest is reading the eulogy.

There are too many people from Section 11 buried in this cemetery. Saka was also killed in the chase. He fought with several people from the combat directory at the same time. Even... there was no complete body, so we had to build a memorial for him.

The cenotaph was buried next to Mei.

All those who came to mourn looked extremely sad.

Eugene found a girl in a wheelchair, who looked like a teenager. She was crying extremely sadly, and there were black crystals on her feet. Eugene understood that this was a sign of worsening latent syndrome.

She then scanned around and found no sign of Colin. There was no way he wouldn't come for such an occasion.

It wasn't until he looked behind that he realized what Irina was saying to him.

"I see."

Colin's face was extremely gloomy, and after Irina finished speaking, he left the cemetery directly.

When he was about to leave.

Eugene stepped forward and held him.

"where are you going?"

Eugene asked.

"There are some final things that have to be dealt with."

After saying that.

Colin walked out of the cemetery and drove away.

Liszt.

Totally crazy.

He has completely gone berserk and killed more than ten people in a week. Now he has been intercepted at the Santa Monica Pier. His power has been completely consumed and he can be killed at any time.

But no one can do it.

No one can kill a man... who has made so many contributions and fought alongside him.

So he proposed a plan.

The wipers on the front window of the car were swaying, but they couldn't wash away the hazy rainwater that came quickly. Colin drove the car to the Santa Monica Pier.

The Ferris wheel had stopped running a long time ago. He opened the door and got out of the car, and the rain instantly soaked him.

Agents from the Countermeasures Bureau surrounded the place. Colin passed one person after another and came to the edge of the pier, a trestle deep into the ocean.

The gray sky and the rain slapping disorderly on the endless blue rolling sea surface, causing infinite ripples.

Liszt was covered in blood, with his back to Colin, sitting on the edge of the trestle, perhaps admiring the sea.

Colin didn't know what to say.

At the same time, he also had some resentment.

"Why me."

Colin looked at Liszt's back. After Irina received the news, in her relay, Liszt asked Colin to kill him.

"You're finally here."

Liszt slowly stood up and turned around. His symptoms had completely worsened, and he was struck back by the vision. His entire arm, including half of his face, turned into an ugly spectrum, those dirty-colored light spots on the surface of condensate.

Keep rolling on the body surface.

Colin just repeated that sentence.

"Why me? I have to understand before I do that."

Colin even questioned.

Liszt paused for a while and said: "Of course it is you, I can't find anyone more suitable than you."

"You are undoubtedly the most cruel person I have ever met."

"You burned so many people to death in that terrifying forest."

"I think."

"Even if there is one more, it is nothing to you."

Liszt said coldly.

It seems to be anger, or some deeper emotion.

Colin took out the pistol from his arms and pointed it at Lister, but still did not pull the trigger.

Liszt was unmoved, this was his fate, and his expression was strangely satisfied.

"Actually, there are some out-of-control infected people within the Countermeasures Bureau, you know, the so-called new agents."

"Someone has to bear the guilt."

"I am also responsible for erasing those people."

Liszt continued to add, and seeing Colin's expression getting more and more gloomy, he asked his last question.

"I often get into this dilemma."

"I don't know whether to shoot them in the head or in the heart."

"All the problems I have encountered are not as complicated as this one."

"If I hit them on the head, they would be better off and die without pain, but that kind of tragedy... that kind of tragedy would make me bear the guilt."

"But if I hit their heart, I would feel better, but they would suffer even more and slowly move towards the fear of death."

"There is no formula, topology, but this is..."

"The biggest problem I've ever faced in my life."

Liszt's expression was vaguely painful, recalling too many violent memories.

Colin's hands were already shaking a little.

Yes.

Just like Liszt said.

He didn't know whether to hit Liszt in the heart or in the head.

suddenly.

Liszt's expression was somewhat relieved.

"But you don't have to worry about that."

"Because I injected myself with analgesics."

"That's how I deal with it."

"Let's do it."

"Colin."

Bang!

Colin's shot accurately hit Liszt's heart, and blood was flowing out.

"ah……"

Liszt let out a somewhat lamentable cry as he was about to die. The rain washed away the blood, making him wet all over.

He turned around and knelt down on the ground in despair, staring at the endless deep sea.

"In this case..."

"A new question..."

"It turns into a solved problem."
