Chapter 8: Check in

Carmine, who has short blond hair, a beard, and an angular face, as well as Meira and Kellerman, all looked at Verak with cold faces, mixed with a little disbelief. Only the young man sitting on the right was still young.

Julia, who is underage and has her hair tied up, has a look of shock and sadness on her face.

Verak, who didn't get any response, didn't feel any discomfort, because he had already experienced this scene before. In this life, he was not as nervous as before, but seemed much more calm.

The clock hanging in the living room made a "tick-tock" sound. I don't know how long it took, but I heard Carmine's clearly audible sniff. He stood up and said, "That's it."

After saying that, he left the table first, followed closely by Meira and Kellerman. Julia looked at Verak as she walked.

Fletcher bowed to Carmine's back: "Then I will arrange for him to stay."

After the Thomas family left, Fletcher looked at Verak: "Let's go."

The two passed through the living room and climbed to the second floor through the spiral stairs on both sides. There were countless rooms on both sides of the corridor on the second floor. Fletcher led Verak to one side: "Mr. Carmine's family lives here."

On this floor, you cannot walk around without my company, let alone enter or leave any room at will."

"clear."

After reaching the end of the corridor, Fletcher opened the door at the end and walked in: "This is Master Chris's room."

Verak followed.

The decoration of the room is the same as that of the living room, bright and spacious, and there is a separate bathroom on the other side. The exquisite decoration, carpets, bed made of expensive wood, desk, and cloakroom are all particularly eye-catching. However, it has something to do with Chris's preferences.

The layout is relatively simple.

Fletcher went to the window and closed the curtains: "Master Chris's things are basically kept in their original positions. Although you have to live here, you are not allowed to move them around at will."

"Understood." Verak stood in the middle of the bedroom and looked at Fletcher.

"You continue to write down the things in the book, and then go to bed early and regain your energy." Verak only slept for a few hours today. Fletcher could tell that he was a little tired and not in a good state of mind. "Tomorrow morning I will

I'll wake you up and have breakfast with Mr. Carmine and his family."

"clear."

Fletcher took a deep look at Verak and seemed a little worried, but within a few seconds, he still walked out of the room.

Verak walked to the door and put his ear to the door, listening to the sound to make sure that Fletcher had left. Then he turned around and took a long breath, looking around the familiar room.

He lived here for two months, but because he never questioned Fletcher's story and always naively believed that Chris really died from messing around, he always kept Fletcher's warning in mind and never touched anything here.

Now, everything is very different. He will no longer be manipulated by others as he was before, and in his eyes, Chris is no longer the playboy who only knows how to have fun.

The information about the rebel organization in this house should have been taken away long ago. After all, Carmine would not leave such an important thing in a house now occupied by outsiders. But there may be some hidden compartments or other

No hiding spots were discovered.

If Verak wants to know more about Chris and his connection with the rebel organization, he must find more clues.

He did not expect that there might be a dark room or a secret passage in the house. Because if there were, Carmine, as the homeowner, would not know about it, and if he knew, he would definitely clear out the contents inside, and he would not be stupid.

Leave it to Verak to discover.

After running through the ideas in his mind, Verak began to search carefully.

Although the Carmine family must have looked for common places like drawers, cabinets, and under the bed, Verak still didn't let it go. Unfortunately, he searched for more than an hour and still found nothing.

Then there are only three possibilities left. The first is that Chris is hidden very secretly and cannot be found in a short time. The second is that all the clues have been collected or wiped out by Carmine. The second is

Three, Chris' important information is not placed in his bedroom, but in other places.

Fortunately, these three possibilities are not dead ends for Verak.

The first one is that he can look for it slowly, he has enough time.

Second, he might as well sneak into Carmine's study, where he might not only find Chris' things, but also other information worth working on.

The third type. Chris’s other places are nothing more than his office and a few places he often goes to. Verak knows all about these and will have plenty of time to check them out later.

Once this is done, there will be nothing left for today.

Verak went to the bathroom to take a shower, and then stared at himself in the mirror. It was a brand new, third self.

"Verak. Most Verak." He called his name, "I was born to live a different life."

It's like encouraging yourself, like making a promise.

After saying this, Verak stretched, wiped his body clean, and fell asleep calmly with excitement.

The next day, July 17, Monday.

Although Verak woke up very early, he still lay in bed pretending to be asleep, waiting for Fletcher to arrive. Not long after, Fletcher knocked on the door, but Verak deliberately did not respond.

After knocking on the door several times with no response, Fletcher chose to push the door open and walk in. After seeing Verak still lying on the bed, he raised his voice and said, "Master Chris, it's time to have breakfast."

"...Huh?" Verak then rubbed his eyes and got up in a daze.

"What did you see in the brochure yesterday?" Fletcher asked, glancing at the brochure beside Verak's pillow.

"I don't know... Anyway, I saw it was very late and fell asleep without even realizing it." Verak replied.

Fletcher was very satisfied, but still said: "I told you to go to bed early. You didn't seem to be in a good state of mind yesterday."

"Mr. Fletcher, I promise, I am in good condition." Verak assured sincerely.

"Okay, hurry up and wash up, get dressed and come downstairs with me." Fletcher had no intention of delving into what had happened.

After Verak finished washing and getting dressed, Fletcher took him to the restaurant on the right side of the first floor. Mr. Carmine and others had not yet arrived, so Fletcher explained: "It will be meal time in ten minutes.

But since this is your first time, you still have to come early and be prepared."

"clear."

"Please take a seat, Mr. Chris." Fletcher took Verak to a seat aside and sat down.

As soon as he finished speaking, two servants came in behind him. After greeting Verak and Fletcher respectively, they placed the tableware.

After the servants left, Fletcher said: "When Mr. Carmine and his family arrive, you must greet them one by one. If they don't ask you questions, don't say anything."

"Understood." Verak, who sat down, pretended to be nervous.

Fletcher patted Verak on the shoulder: "Relax, Master Chris."
