Chapter 549 Damn weather

40 minutes later.

"What a shitty weather!"

As soon as he came out of the woods at the foot of the hillside, Hou Jun tightened the collar of his raincoat, opened his hands, covered his mouth and blew a breath of hot air into it, then took out the waterproof map from his pocket, took out the compass, and put

Its reticle opens.

Li Zheng on the side said: "Squad leader, your hands are shaking."

"Shake your ass! Don't you shake? I just saw you sifting chaff..."

As he spoke, he stood up, took the compass with the reticle open, and began to compare the magnetic angles to find the direction of travel.

After finding the direction, I squatted down and started looking for the target point marked on the map.

While searching, I cursed and cursed, as if this was the only way to make myself feel better.

The weather changed suddenly today.

Not only did the temperature drop to 5 degrees above zero, but it also started raining heavily.

Before setting off in the morning, many teams couldn't help feeling frightened when they looked at the dark sky and the falling raindrops the size of peas.

Traveling according to the azimuth angle is a method of traveling according to the magnetic azimuth angle and distance measured on the map. It is also called traveling according to the magnetic azimuth angle.

This method was created during World War II and is now somewhat primitive. However, primitive things are the least likely to cause problems, so it is currently a required training subject for all special forces and reconnaissance forces.

This method is often used in terrains such as deserts, grasslands, and mountain forests that lack bearing objects, as well as in adverse weather conditions such as dense fog, wind and snow, and at night.

It requires obvious azimuths at each turning point on the travel route; the distance between turning points should be about 1 kilometer (farther in plain areas, and closer in mountainous areas and at night); and a "road map based on azimuth angles" should be drawn before traveling.

The disadvantage of this method is that it is not as accurate as the electronic terminal positioning. The accuracy of the position will test the proficiency and experience of the operator, because the route drawn on the map according to the azimuth angle is a straight line. After drawing, it will be a straight line.

It is a zigzag route composed of straight lines, but it is impossible to walk in a straight line in the wild. There cannot be endless flat prairie in front of you. In some places, you have to go around, and it is easy to deviate from the angle while walking, resulting in deviation.

The distance between each turning point and the next turning point should not be too close. One kilometer in the mountains is an exaggeration. In many cases, it is good if you can set a route of a few hundred meters. When the point is reached, you have to make the next correction.

So despite the fact that this cross-country sniper march based on azimuth angle is only a short distance of 10 kilometers, it takes two or even several times longer than a normal cross-country march.

"The shooting point is nearby."

Hou Jun looked around and found that according to the location of the shooting point set by the organizer, it was within a range of two hundred meters nearby.

But this is a canyon, surrounded by tall trees, blocking a lot of sight, making it difficult to see with the naked eye.

This is their first point, five points in total, five goals.

The speed of the two of them is very fast. After all, field topography is a traditional skill that has been practiced very skillfully in the hands of veterans of PLA.

"Squad leader, are we going the wrong way?"

Because it was too cold, Li Zheng couldn't help but check his body, shaking a few times and feeling that his face was numb.

He quickly took out an energy bar from his backpack, tore off the package and put it into his mouth, chewed it, and drank another sip of water.

The cold rain seeped into the clothes. It was difficult to be completely waterproof in such a heavy rain in the wild. Eating some high-energy foods was also a way to keep out the cold.

"Bullshit! You're looking down on me, squad leader!" Hou Jun pointed to the front right: "I promise it's over there! Let's go!"

With a wave of his hand, he took the lead and ran in that direction without any further explanation.

Not far away, I suddenly stepped on a piece of floating mud, which looked like it was covered with grass. I stepped on it and it went up to my knees.

"I go!"

Hou Jun lost his center of gravity and fell directly to the ground.

Li Zheng quickly came up and grabbed the strap of his carrying equipment and dragged him out of the mud pit.

"What the hell!"

Hou Jun cursed and wiped off the mud on his combat boots with his hands.

"Are you injured?" Li Zheng looked at Hou Jun, fearing that he had sprained his foot.

"It's okay!" Hou Jun said: "Don't delay here, hurry up and leave! Otherwise, all the golden eagles, gray wolves and lions will reach the finish line."

The two of them walked along the path under the hillside and ran towards the hillside in the direction of 11 o'clock.

That was what Hou Jun thought was the sniper spot.

If his judgment is correct, there must be someone there.

For 200 meters, the two of them actually ran for a full two minutes.

The ground was too slippery and there was mud everywhere. The anti-slip effect of the combat boots was completely lost. The most distressing thing was that there was thick mud under the soles, making the shoes feel heavy.

This is really a torture. The cold rain and the drop in temperature have already caused excessive replacement costs. Adding this bad road condition makes it even worse.

When Li Zhenggang set off, he was still wondering how fast the other competition groups could be, and whether the three host teams from Country H would rely on their familiarity with the environment to lose too much time to the other groups.

But now he has no interest in thinking about other people's affairs. Just the first point made him and Hou Jun embarrassed. The next four points did not exceed the willpower of ordinary people and they could not reach the end.

This is a somewhat gratifying thing. In fact, the abnormal weather not only caused other teams to suffer, but Country H's own special forces team was also disrupted.

When the weather is fine, they don't even need to look at the map. They can just take a look at the sniper point and run there quickly.

That's not the case now. Even if they knew which way to go, the mud on the road and the mudslides rushing down from the hillside to cut off the road would make these cheating H-country special forces helpless.

Hou Jun is indeed a veteran. Li Zheng and him climbed up the hillside and found that there were actually five people on the other side of the hillside. Several of them wore the armbands of referees and security personnel on their arms, hiding in a huddle behind a huge rock.

Like a nest of newly born quails.

In fact, in this kind of weather, not to mention the contestants, even the security personnel, especially the security personnel in the field, feel very sour.

This chapter is not over yet. Please click on the next page to continue reading! Li Zheng saw several people hiding behind the rocks wearing raincoats and lining up in a line. They were holding on to a tarpaulin used to build tents to protect them from the rain.

When his eyes were blurred by the cold and his nose was running with runny nose, he suddenly wanted to laugh, but he didn't dare to.

Seeing Li Zheng, one of the referees ducked out from behind the stone, pulled Li Zheng a few steps to the right, pointed to a circle surrounded by gravel, and shouted in English: "Here! The target is there.

——”

After saying that, he pointed his hand in a general direction.

Li Zheng stopped talking to this poor guy. If he had to choose, he would rather run on the mountain road than tremble here like these guys.

It was so windy on the mountain that the tent couldn't be put up at all.

Cars can't drive over, and people can't leave, so we can only brave the wind and rain.

This spirit...

It’s worthy of admiration!

Li Zheng and Hou Jun quickly occupied the sniper position. Hou Jun took out his observation device and started looking for targets, while Li Zheng picked up the wind meter to measure the wind force.

The value displayed by the wind meter made Li Zheng's jaw drop. He thought the wind meter had been damaged by water, so he quickly moved it into his arms and wiped it.

The military handheld custom measuring instrument has excellent three-proof function. Unless you take it for diving, it cannot be damaged by ordinary rain and splashing water.

Li Zheng wiped it a few times and then lifted it up.

The number suddenly jumped to 8.1.

"Old squad leader! What a bastard! Where is the target?" He couldn't help but curse.

Hou Jun pointed with his hand, pointing to the 2 o'clock position.

"At our 2 o'clock position, 630 meters away, chest ring target!"

Li Zheng's face suddenly turned ugly.

"It's Hengfeng! Damn it!"

This is a wind that snipers hate.

What they like most is calm wind, followed by the wind blowing from the front and behind. Even if it is a cross wind, it only requires a half correction, while a cross wind requires a full correction.

Once the distance is too far and the wind is too strong, the possibility of problems during correction greatly increases.

"Is there any turbulence?!"

A crosswind is a crosswind, no big deal will be correction.

But Li Zheng is most afraid of turbulence.

When sniping at a distance that is too far, if there is turbulence on the path of the ballistic flight, wind in the opposite direction will appear, which will cause the ballistic drift.

This kind of turbulence cannot be effectively predicted and judged, because in actual combat it is impossible to walk the distance between the target and you to see what kind of wind is blowing.

Even in this situation, it is impossible to walk over and stand there and measure it.

There's no time to waste.

So, how does a sniper judge turbulence?

Just look at the terrain.

For example, if the ballistic flight is close to a cliff or a hillside, or it is in a valley with complex terrain and the terrain is rugged and steep, turbulence will easily occur.

This situation is difficult to prevent. If the place where the ballistic trajectory passes is relatively open, turbulence will generally not occur.

If you feel that there will be turbulence, but the trajectory has to fly close to the hillside or cliff, then you must make a certain compromise in the correction amount. For example, it was originally a crosswind on the right, the correction value was 4, and the trajectory is close to the valley cliff, it feels like

When there are reverse oblique or cross winds caused by turbulence, the correction value can be 3 or 2, compromising 1-2 density positions, depending on the specific situation.

Because Xiu 3 or 2 can still hit the target even if there is no turbulence, but it can still hit the target even if it does not hit the bullseye.

If you choose 4 without compromise, you may miss the target due to turbulence.

This is experience.

Li Zheng's disadvantage is experience, but his advantage is that he has high academic qualifications, quick thinking, and accurate judgment.

Besides, there is an experienced Hou Jun beside him.

Hou Jun said: "The trajectory is 40 meters away from the hillside. I don't think there is a problem. There is no need to consider the reverse wind! Let's do it! Don't waste time!"

He raised his hand and looked at his watch.

The first target point was less than two kilometers away, and the two of them actually took 51 minutes.

too slow!

Li Zheng stopped talking.

The silence speaks.

He lay on the ground and began to make corrections, quickly pointed to the chest ring target, and started aiming...

A high-magnification telescope was set up not far away. Several H-country base security personnel responsible for referee protection did not care about the cold. They gathered around the telescope with great interest to see if Li Zheng's group could hit it.

Because, according to the previous results reported from other points, except for country h, the previous groups all missed the target.

pLA's performance in the past few days was very good, and everyone wanted to see if this team, currently ranked first in the overall rankings, could score its first hit.
