The morning sun rolls in wrapped in clouds and mist, enveloping every inch of the earth with golden warmth.
It's one of many ordinary mornings on Layton Farm.
Midsummer has passed and golden autumn is approaching. What awaits them will be endless wheat and endless milk.
And these things will be transported to the towns one by one and processed into the most delicious dishes on the tables of the wealthy dukes.
But people on the farm don't feel jealous because of this.
They enjoy this busy but fulfilling life.
Accompanied by the howling of the livestock, farmers' women in twos and threes walked towards the back of the farm holding milk buckets and tools, talking and laughing.
And on a narrow path next to it, a carriage covered with a red swan carpet, with exquisite carved glass on the windows and golden bells hanging on the four corners was slowly approaching.
The bell on the car eaves kept shaking, and the rough female voice inside also kept cursing:
"My God, what the hell is this place? The road is full of mud, and there are so many mosquitoes. They tortured me to death last night!"
The young girl beside her massaged her shoulders and comforted her softly:
"Aunt Sema, please be patient. Layton Farm is just ahead of us. We can return to the Imperial City when we pick up Miss Myriel."
Sema spat with a cruel look on her face: "Miss, she is just a wild girl that no one wants. If she hadn't been full of evil and even almost harmed Miss Ais, how could Madam leave her here?
"
The girl frowned, a little uneasy: "Then tell me, will Miss Miriel change in these years? Will she make things difficult for us?"
"Humph, she dares! Madam asked me to pick her up just to temper her temper. With me here, I will make sure she behaves like a normal princess!"
As the two of them talked, the carriage stopped in the open space in front of the farm.
Farmer Bach got the news early in the morning and waited here with his wife Glenda.
I saw a pretty and well-dressed girl getting off the carriage, and then I saw this girl reaching out to help a woman out. Although the woman was plump, her skin was fair and delicate, and the jewelry she wore was even more beautiful.
There were a lot of things, so he kept smacking his lips at his wife:
"As expected from Duke Rhodes's house, even the two maids are dressed so richly."
Glenda nudged him with her elbow and then greeted him with a smile.
"It's Mrs. Sema, right? You've worked hard all the way. We've prepared breakfast. You can go in and enjoy it."
Sema saw the hand stretched out in front of her, and the calluses on it were clearly visible, so she couldn't hide the contempt in her eyes.
"No need, we are not used to food from the farm. We have already eaten wheat bread and milk in the town."
Glenda couldn't hear the disdain in Sema's words. The smile in her eyes faded, but the corners of her mouth were still raised.
"Well, then Madam, please go and take a rest first."
"No need." Sema waved her hand in disgust, "Where is Myriel? I have to take her back quickly."
When she heard her calling Miriel by her first name instead of Miss Miriel, Glenda frowned and her face turned completely cold.
The Duchess abandoned her daughter on the farm for eight years, and now she actually sent such a person to pick her up?
Poor Miriel.
She is such a well-behaved and beautiful girl.
So Glenda said without thinking: "Miss is still resting, just wait here."
Hearing this, Sema's eyes widened.
"The sun is shining on your butt, and that girl hasn't gotten up yet?! No, I'm going to teach her a lesson."
Sema said and forced her way inside.
She was so fierce and frighteningly strong that Glenda couldn't stop her at all.
In addition, her husband Bach kept stopping her from behind.
"Madam, Madam, just let her go. She is from the Duke's family. If she offends the Duke, our farm will have no source of sales."
Glenda glared at him: "Are you going to watch this rude woman bullying Miriel?"
Bach: "That's not what I meant."
Glenda threw him away and chased Sema alone.
However, Sema has long since disappeared.
Although she didn't know where Miriel's room was, there were people everywhere in the farm.
Some people didn't know her origin and purpose, but they saw that she was dressed like a noble lady and had a fierce aura, so they tremblingly pointed her to Miriel's room.
Sema went upstairs and banged the door of the last room vigorously.
"Myriel, Myriel, get up. My wife has sent me to take you back to the imperial city. Do you want to stay in this barren countryside for the rest of your life?"
However, no one responded when she clapped her hands red.
Just as Sema lifted up her skirt and was about to kick open the door with all her strength, Glenda came over with a few strong men.
She had completely lost her polite attitude as a host and looked at Sema with a cold face.
"Sema, I respect you because you are from the Duke's family, so I am somewhat polite to you. If you are still so rude, don't blame me for being unreasonable!"
Sema looked at the several strong men standing behind her, feeling somewhat frightened.
But she still pretended to be calm, raised her chin and said, "What? Are you still planning on letting people throw me out of here? Let me tell you, if something happens to me, your entire farm will not be able to have a good time!"
Anna, who had been following her, also stood up and stared at Glenda with an arrogant face.
"Who do you think you dare to challenge Aunt Sema? Isn't it just a rundown farm? If it hadn't been for Madam's wishes, we wouldn't have come to this stinking place!"
Glenda narrowed her eyes and looked coldly at this girl who was younger but more arrogant than Sema.
"Who am I? When I was killing pigs and cows on the farm, you didn't even have a brain in your mother's belly."
"You! How dare you, a despicable countryman, say that to me?!" Anna was so angry that she raised her hand to pounce on Glenda.
"Aunt Glenda."
A sweet female voice suddenly broke the tense atmosphere.
Everyone looked around for the sound, and then realized that the sound came from inside the room.
"Just let them in, I'm already up."
The female voice continued.
Glenda reluctantly glanced at Sema and the aggressive Anna.
But Miriel had already said so, what else could she do? She could only take out the key and open the door.
The moment the door opened, Sema hurried in, and her arrogance did not diminish at all:
"Miriel, you have some conscience and know enough to let me in, but I won't be gentle to you just because of this. Let me tell you -"
Sema suddenly stopped talking because she saw the person sitting next to the dressing table.
