165 The overly cautious Davout strikes straight

An Ning took Berthier, La Salle, and a group of hussars and rushed to Diego overnight.

Speaking of the name Diego, An Ning always reminds An Ning of a certain famous star, Diego Maradona, and the famous slogan Argentina put out when Maradona died: Don't cry for me, Argentina.

Then he remembered the video of the Anglo-Armanian War produced by Little John Khan, because that video started with Maradona's Hand of God and ended with Maradona's farewell words.

After completing this wandering cycle, An Ning thought of the original process of Diego's battle in history.

Because it was a long time ago, and the battle of Diego was not an important battle, it was just Massena defeating an Austrian division.

Compared with the process of fighting Diego, An Ning was more impressed by what happened after the battle: after Massena captured Diego, because all the troops were so hungry that their eyes turned green, and the military pay had not been paid for a long time, so they acquiesced. Robbery by troops in Ciudad Diego.

He himself also went to Diego City to find a beautiful girl to wrestle with.

As a result, the Austrian veteran Vukcevic marched overnight and caught Massena by surprise. When the Austrian army attacked, Massena ran away in his pajamas and managed to escape.

Because of this incident, An Ning had the impression of Massena as a bandit who was very capable of fighting.

When he saw Massena during the day today, he was surprised that his impression was completely inconsistent.

It's good now that there's another decisive battle in Diego. An Ning just remembers that Massena ran away naked, and has no memory of how he captured the city of Diego.

What should I do?

Do you really have to rely on your own experience in the Total War series of games to survive?

Why don't you leave the command to Davout and watch the show yourself?

But there was a problem with giving it to Davout.

Massena was able to lead the battle of Diego because Massena himself was the vanguard commander of Napoleon's Italian Army, so he could command two divisions with no problem.

Davout is now only a division commander, at the same level as Laharp, and he probably cannot command Laharp.

It was a bit reluctant to only allow Davout's division to fight against the main force of the Austrian army.

While An Ning was thinking about this, she trotted her horse in the mountains. Because it was dark, An Ning didn't dare to let the horse run too fast.

He himself is not afraid of falling, but if the horse breaks, it would be a waste of time to change horses halfway.

The group of people just hurried on in the night.

Most of the people responsible for supply transportation along the way were asleep. After the sentry found out that the person coming was An Ning, he subconsciously wanted to shout "long live the general," but was stopped by An Ning.

At about one or two o'clock in the middle of the night, An Ning arrived at Montenotte on the way.

On the slope in front of Montenotte City, An Ning saw a large number of corpses but had no time to collect them.

His horse also trampled on a wounded soldier, and his screams woke up the French soldiers sleeping in the tent next to him.

The soldiers rushed out of the camp and shouted: "Who are they?"

An Ning: "It's me, General Frost!"

The soldiers gathered around and put the torches close to An Ning. Perhaps because these soldiers were deficient in vitamins and couldn't see clearly at night, they almost put the torches on An Ning's face, and then they confirmed that this was "Your Excellency the General."

"Your Mightiness!"

"Don't shout Long Live!" An Ning said immediately as she had experience.

The soldiers shut up one after another.

An Ning: "Go and wake up Laharp!"

Immediately a noncommissioned officer ran away.

A moment later, a sleepy Laharp came running over in his pajamas: "General, why are you here?"

"Don't you know that Davout met the main force of the Austrian army?"

"I know, but he wrote back to me and said, don't worry, so I'm going to take a rest before rushing to Diego tomorrow. Tomorrow... I mean if I leave at dawn today, I can probably arrive in Diego at noon."

An Ning: "Call your troops now, don't sleep, and rush to Diego immediately."

Laharp: "The troops marched a long distance today and are very tired..."

An Ning interrupted Laharp: "The military situation is urgent, can you afford to delay the fighter plane? Call the troops!"

Laharp: "Yes, I will call out all the troops right now. But it will take some time to organize the troops and prepare the torches. It will take about an hour before we can set off."

An Ning thought about it for a moment and nodded: "Okay, I'll go to the front line first. You'll set off in an hour and catch up on a forced march! Do you understand how fast soldiers are?"

"yes!"

Laharp saluted, turned around, ran towards the camp, and ordered to his men: "Quick, call out the whole army! Blow the rally call!"

An Ning: "Let's go and continue to Diego."

**

When An Ning arrived at Diego, it was already around three in the morning.

An Ning was immediately led outside Davout's tent, only to find Davout dressed neatly in military uniform, studying something attentively on a map in front of the table.

An Ning: "You didn't sleep?"

Davout raised his head, and as he raised his head, his head reflected the firelight in the tent.

Davout: "Your Majesty General! Why are you here at the front line?"

An Ning: "The battle is coming soon. Of course I have to come to the front to have a look. Where is Napoleon?"

"He traveled all day with the cannon, and I let him sleep."

An Ning nodded and asked, "What are you studying?"

Davout: "I'm thinking, why would the enemy place the decisive battlefield here? What's the point of having their main force here?"

An Ning: "Meaning?"

Davout: "Yes, it is surrounded by mountains. To be honest, it is not suitable for a large-scale decisive battle. It will be very difficult to deploy an army of 10,000 people. The Austrian Marshal Beaulieu piled so many troops behind Diego.

What are you preparing to do?

"He should disperse his troops in several directions and look for opportunities to break through from several directions."

An Ning: "You mean he should divide his troops?"

"Yes, the area around Diego is relatively open, and tens of thousands of troops can be deployed, but there are not many such open areas nearby. When I fought with the Argento Division before, there was no way to deploy because of the terrain.

The troops took advantage of their strength to eat him up.

"So Beaulieu has so many troops here. When fighting, they can only go out one by one."

An Ning touched her chin and looked at the map: "What you said does make sense."

It feels very much like the Mount and Blade series. The game function limits the number of troops that can appear at the same time, so you can only enter the battlefield in waves, and after each wave is dead, a wave of reinforcements will be sent.

Thinking about it this way, it is indeed unreasonable for Beaulieu to place so many troops in Diego.

Davout continued: "So I have an idea. Is it possible that the enemy's main force is not here at all, but they just deliberately lit so many campfires to make us think that there is a main force here?"

An Ning: "You are telling me that there is a main force here!"

"That's what I thought when I first saw the campfire, but the more I thought about it, the more I felt something was wrong. But my troops also fought for a day and were very tired. Plus, I don't have cavalry. If I have cavalry, I can let the cavalry ride.

Approach those campfires with horses and torches. If it is a fake campfire, the enemy will not have enough strength to guard..."

An Ning: "That's easy to handle. I brought Lazarus and his cavalry and asked him to explore the truth!"

As soon as he finished speaking, Lazarus, who was taking care of the horses, opened the curtain of the tent and rushed in, shouting: "General! Come and see!"

An Ning frowned: "What's wrong?"

He asked as he strode out of the camp.

Outside the camp, Napoleon and Berthier, who had gotten up at some time, were standing by the bonfire, looking into the distance.

An Ning looked in the same direction in confusion, and saw a long queue of large numbers of torches appearing on the mountain road east of Diego.

An Ning patted Davou on the shoulder: "Now Beaulieu's main force is here."
