Chapter 1 Introduction

In June of the fourth year of Jianwen of the Wei Dynasty, King Yan's army invaded the capital, a fire broke out in the palace, and Emperor Jianwen burned himself to death.

After the King of Yan occupied the capital, he carried out mass killings. The civil servants and generals who had advised Emperor Jianwen and who refused to surrender were all liquidated.

Fang Xiaoru, a lecturer at the Hanlin Academy, was ordered to draft an edict for enthronement. Fang Xiaoru refused and used aggressive words. The King of Yan was angered and ordered the execution of ten of his clans.

Outside the Capital Jubao Gate, countless people were killed every day on the execution platform. The bluestone tile floor was stained red with blood, and the water was splashed and it was not clean.

The number of implicated deaths reached 847.

A village in the suburbs of Beijing.

A young woman with a beautiful face was leaning against the window and looking at the sky. She was dressed plainly and her eyebrows were slightly furrowed.

There was an indescribable sadness on his face.

Since she was sent to Zhuangzi six months ago when she was pregnant, it has been nearly a month since she gave birth to a baby. When she sent a message back to her hometown, her husband's family has not received any news, and no one has been sent to see the baby.

Thinking that today is the day when my parents and family were exiled to Sichuan, my eyes turned red again.

Trapped in this village, unable to see her loved ones off, the woman felt a dull pain in her heart. She didn't know if the nanny had given anything to her parents.

Outside Zhuangzi, a green cloth carriage quietly stopped at the door. Three people got out of the carriage, a middle-aged woman dressed in rich clothes, a young woman and a servant girl.

The three of them entered Zhuangzi, immediately dismissed their servants, and entered the inner courtyard.

On the big bed in the east wing of the inner courtyard, a girl was waking up from a deep sleep. She rubbed herself on the pillow and refused to get up.

He squinted his eyes and softly called out: "Nanny..."

No one responded.

The girl hesitated again, then pouted and sat up from the comfortable bed.

He rubbed his eyes with two tender, white hands, and blinked his big almond-shaped eyes, blinking away some sleepiness. He sat for a while, and then he finally woke up.

The girl got out of bed, called "Nanny", grabbed the neatly folded clothes beside the bed and put them on her body, put on her shoes, and left the room.

Seeing that the yard was quiet and not a single servant was seen, the girl tilted her head, a little angry.

Humph, these damn servants must have been lazy again.

The girl stamped her feet angrily and trotted to find her mother. When she walked outside her mother's room, she heard voices inside and stopped.

In the main room, the atmosphere was a bit strange.

The young woman stared blankly at the tray, her face full of disbelief, and she squeezed her hands tightly. She thought her mother-in-law had received the news that she had given birth to a grandson and came to visit her, but she didn't expect...

"Mother, does your husband know your purpose of coming today?"

The middle-aged woman looked impatient: "Of course I have discussed this with Wen Bi. This is the best way now."

The young woman shook her head: "Impossible! My Li family has been a scholar for many generations, and there has never been a precedent for a daughter to be a concubine."

"Then you set this precedent!"

"Impossible! The daughter of the Li family only has a dead wife and no living concubines!"

"Then you go die!"

After the middle-aged woman finished speaking, she motioned to the maid standing behind her with her eyes.

The servant girl received the signal, quickly took the poisonous wine from the tray, and was about to feed it to Mrs. Li.

How could Mrs. Li be willing to do so? She struggled desperately.

Another woman stepped forward to help hold her down...

"Mom...well..."

The girl was so shocked by the scene in the room that she couldn't recover for a long time.

Before she could say "Mother", someone covered her mouth and nose from behind.

Inside the house, Ms. Li was terrified and struggling desperately. She could not die. The two children were still young and she could not lose her mother.

Seeing her struggle, the middle-aged woman gritted her teeth and said, "Fine!"

The two men received the order, one on the left and the other on the right, firmly suppressing Ms. Li and pouring poisonous wine into her mouth. Ms. Li gritted her teeth and refused to submit.

Outside the house, the girl's eyes widened with fear: "Well..."

Shaking his head desperately, no! Mother!

While Li was struggling, she looked outside the room. When she looked at it, her eyes suddenly widened.

Nanny?

Why is Nannan here?

If mother-in-law and Mrs. Wu find out that Nannan saw this scene, Nannan may not survive.

Mrs. Li was horrified, her whole body trembled, tears welled up in her eyes, she looked at her daughter outside the room who was trying desperately to rush in, and gradually stopped struggling.

mother!

The girl's mouth and nose were covered, unable to make a sound, and unable to see the person behind her. Her little hands were slapping desperately, and her two calves were kicking.

Not only did the man refuse to let her go, he tightly covered her mouth and nose without saying anything, and even took her away by force.

He carried her all the way to a secluded place: "Shh, sister, don't talk."

wet nurse?

When she saw it was the wet nurse, the girl was about to throw herself into her arms and cry.

The wet nurse hurriedly covered her mouth and nose again.

"Well……"

The nanny felt sad in her heart: "Sister, don't talk or cry."

Seeing that my sister had calmed down, she nodded to herself, saying that she would be quiet and not cry. The nanny almost burst into tears.

Blinking away her tears, she whispered comforting words: "Sister, be good and wait here for the wet nurse. The wet nurse will go and take your brother out."

"Ah, brother!"

The wet nurse patted her sister's shoulder to comfort her, then turned around and quietly walked into the inner courtyard.

After a while, he hurried out with a baby in his arms.

The girl hurried over and stood on tiptoe to look at her infant brother. Seeing that her brother was sleeping obediently, she grabbed the nanny's dress and the two hurriedly ran along the wall and out of the village.

After running a few miles, I heard something coming from behind: "Chase! Look around carefully!"

"yes."

"Sister, run quickly!"

The two of them gritted their teeth and ran for a few more miles. When they saw the footsteps coming closer and closer, the wet nurse was so anxious that layers of sweat broke out on her forehead. Seeing the thick grass ahead, she hurriedly took her sister and son to hide in.

He stuffed the swaddling clothes into the girl's arms and said urgently: "Sister, hold the young master here and wait for the nanny. The nanny will go and lead them away."

There is no way that the elder and the younger one can escape. The madam must have been killed, and we cannot let the elder sister and the young master suffer any more mishaps.

"Nanny..."

The girl watched the nanny running away in the opposite direction, while Zhuangzi's servants heard the noise and chased after her, biting their lips, their hearts filled with hatred.

She didn't know how long she had been lying down. When she saw that the wet nurse hadn't arrived for a long time, the girl carefully raised her little body and looked around.

He looked in the direction of Zhuangzi again, and when he saw no movement, he gritted his teeth, hugged his brother and got out of the grass, and ran to the opposite place of Zhuangzi.

"Look over there!"

"Search them all carefully!"

When the girl heard the noise, she ran very fast with her short legs and didn't dare to look back.

A carriage was walking leisurely on the road, with two young guards sitting on the left and right of the carriage. When they heard the movement, they stood up and looked at the place where the movement was.

"Master, there are several men chasing a child."

There was no response in the carriage.

The guard who made the sound paused, raised his whip again, and the carriage continued to move forward.

In the carriage, a stern-faced young man with a pale face was leaning against the wall of the carriage with his eyes closed. One leg was stretched out, the other leg was bent, and his right hand was placed on his knee to support his forehead.

I don't know if he is asleep or just unwilling to pay attention.

After a while, the young man frowned and opened his eyes. His eyes were cold.

Lazy, he raised his hand to lift the car curtain and looked out.

In the woods, a girl hugged a baby tightly and ran away in panic.

The branches and leaves cut through the girl's dress, messed up the girl's hair, and brushed against the girl's delicate cheeks and arms. The girl breathed heavily and her steps became slower and slower.

The boy looked at the swaddling clothes in the girl's arms again, and seemed to hear a faint cry.

The young man stared blankly, not knowing what he was thinking, and his eyes suddenly became colder and colder.

"Mu Li, go take a look." The young man said calmly.

"yes!"

The guard named Mu Li immediately rolled down from the carriage, moved a few times, and disappeared in an instant.

After a while, Mu Li came back and reported outside the carriage: "Master, my subordinates led the people away. The girl is safe."

There was a faint response in the carriage: "Well, let's go."

"yes."

Mu Li sat on the carriage shaft, flicked the reins and said, "Drive", and the horse pulling the cart began to trot.
