411 In 'That Mountain, That Man, That Dog'

The video continued, with the two walking in tandem on the mountain road, and soon the son left his father behind.

But when the son realized that his father was missing, he asked the second son anxiously: "Where is my dad?"

No matter how old the child is, he is still a child.

Soon, the father appeared. It turned out that he was just going for a convenience. But when the father saw his son waiting for him, the first thing he said was: "Where is the mail package?"

The relationship between father and son in the East is always like this: when you look back, I'm not here; when I look back, you turn around.

So the feeling of unfamiliarity continued like this.

Although the parcel was not lost, my father still lost his temper.

This made the two people who already talked less become even more silent.

The son understands the significance of this mail package to his father. He still feels strange and afraid of his father as he did when he was a child.

The journey continued, and the father and son arrived at Wangfeng Village, the first stop on the postal route. The son expected that like in the movie, the villagers would gather around him and take the letter from his hand, with a satisfied smile on his face.

But when the two arrived at the village committee, they found that there was no one there, and the son was immediately disappointed.

The father poured the water in a familiar manner and asked his son to wait. He said that as soon as the second child cries, the village secretary will know that the rural postman is coming.

Sure enough, the secretary soon appeared.

The father enthusiastically introduced his son to the secretary, but when the secretary chatted with the father, he revealed that many outsiders like his father ended up either as model workers or cadres, while his father worked hard for many years and never received any praise until he retired.

After hearing this, the son felt very aggrieved for his father, but his father dismissed the topic and taught his son not to take shortcuts and cross waterways in the future, otherwise he would end up falling into the same trap as him.

But the son obviously had never exposed it. He complained a little: "Why don't people in the countryside write letters of praise?"

But the father said helplessly: "I wrote it, but I didn't let it be sent. How can I send a letter of praise to myself?"

As he spoke, his father stroked his second child and said, "Besides, who will praise it?"

The son was speechless for a moment, and the father's tone became a little serious at this time. He warned his son:

"You should also remember that you don't want to complain about it!"

After that, the father took his son and continued on their way.

When he left the village committee door, the originally empty door was now surrounded by blind daters.

The son was very happy when he saw this expected scene. His father introduced his son who would take over his future job to everyone, and the son left the village amidst the warm farewell of the villagers.

But before he had gone far, his son realized that in addition to welcoming him, it was more of a farewell to his father.

"When we left the village, my dad never looked back. The villagers took us to the entrance of the village and stayed there watching us go away. They came to see me off. Thinking about what I just said, it hurt him.

In fact, my dad doesn’t want what I want. It’s just that you may not always get what you want, but you can’t say that my dad didn’t get anything. At least these folks will definitely miss him.”

Seeing his father kindly giving candies to the children in the village, at this moment, the son's impression of his father had been greatly improved, and he himself also had a deeper understanding of the profession of a rural postman.

As for the audience in front of the screen, their eyes were wet with tears at this moment.

A rural postman in a mountain village has an obscure profession and one pair of legs, which have been stitched together for decades like a thin thread, stitching the scattered mountain villages together.

Now that my father has retired, there is no farewell ceremony, no sensational words, only the silent thoughts that belong to the people in the mountains.

Even the stars cannot cover up the great brilliance emitted by the weak light...

After receiving the farewell from Wangfeng Village, the father and son talked a little more during the rest of the way.

The atmosphere seemed to be much more harmonious, but after his father sent a special letter, the father and son had huge differences in concepts.

That special letter was a wordless letter, and the recipient was the fifth wife, who worked hard to raise her grandson. The grandson became the only child in hundreds of miles to be admitted to a key university. However, after passing the exam, the grandson never returned.

When I came back, I would only receive a remittance slip every Spring Festival.

The fifth wife missed her deceased son and daughter-in-law, and her grandson who was far away, so much that she cried blindly.

At least part of the reason why she is alive today is that her father sends "letters from her grandson" to the fifth wife from time to time.

This is the belief that the fifth wife lives by. Now the responsibility of being a rural postman has been handed over to her son, who took it over without any hesitation.

The fifth wife held her son's hand and said, "I believe in you, so you come often!"

Son: “Hey!”

But after leaving the village, the son expressed his incomprehension to his father:

"What you do is tantamount to shielding him. Why don't you tell his grandson what to do?"

My father immediately retorted: "He is a college student! And he has become a state cadre. Why should others tell him what to do?"

The son became even more unconvinced after hearing this: "What's wrong with college students? College students can't talk about it?"

The father knew that his son might be unhappy because of his failure, so he changed the topic and asked his son to read a few words to his fifth wife every now and then.

The son naturally agreed, but also asked: "Of course I can do what you asked me to do, but if I hadn't been running this postal route, who would have done it like you? His grandson should have done this.

Don’t you think you can do anything?”

Father: "How did you educate me? I will do what I can do. What's the use of having fanciful ideas if I can't do it?"

The son took a gamble and said, "Whether it can be done or not, just wait and see."

The father knew that his son was serious, so he hurriedly warned: "My grandson is more valuable than my fifth wife's eyes. Don't do whatever you want!"

In the film, the battle between father and son ends here. There is no explanation of how the son communicates with the fifth wife's grandson, nor is there any explanation of the follow-up. It just highlights the conflict between father and son.

In fact, the reason why the son behaved like this was because he thought of his mother when he held the fifth wife's hand.

My father is away from home all year round for many reasons. He is not homesick, but his family is more concerned about him.

In the past, my mother would smile the happiest when the three of them got together. She said that her father was suffering outside and she never blamed him.

Just like the fifth wife and his grandson.

The film uses the story of the fifth wife to compare mother, son and father, so that the audience can better understand the special emotion between father and son, and at the same time have a greater sense of resonance.

Indeed, at the turn of the millennium, there are more and more left-behind children. Many people have similar or even deeper feelings about their fathers being away from home all year round.

What's more, it may even give rise to the feeling that the mother is ignorant and cowardly because she misses her incompetent father so much. When the father returns, the already existing sense of alienation becomes even more profound.

Of course, this belongs to a few people, but more people feel the beauty of this film in the slow music and touching plot.

Similarly, the film later uses the son's first encounter with a Dong girl, Chen Hao, to compare the encounter between his father and his mother.

However, the focus of many Jiang Yan fans at the scene was obviously misplaced.

When Chen Hao looked back and smiled, and the scene of his appearance shocked everyone, many fans shouted directly in their hearts:

"I don't agree with this marriage!"
