18. The Power of Arc Magic

The alley is quiet and deserted, with only the tall buildings in the distance still projecting misty neon lights.

Under the bright street lights, Jiang Qiao and Cheng Ruoxi walked side by side.

When they reached the door of Jiang Qiao's house, they stopped.

"Sister Xi, let me see you off. It's too late and it's not safe." Jiang Qiao said.

"No, Master Jiang has a heavy workload, so the little girl should resign on her own..." Cheng Ruoxi said in a weak woman's tone, and then smiled: "Okay, it's already so late, you go back and rest, so

Haven’t I been alone for many days?”

"Nowadays, in a society governed by the rule of law, there are so many dangers. Besides, if I really encounter danger, I will be surrounded by neighbors. I will roar to see who will hurt me."

When she said this, Jiang Qiao felt a little relieved: "Then... Cheng Nuxia needs to take care of herself along the way."

Jiang Qiao opened the door and walked into the yard, when he suddenly heard Cheng Ruoxi calling him.

"Jiang Qiao..." Cheng Ruoxi stood under a streetlight not far away. The light blurred her face, and she hesitated to speak.

"What's wrong?" Jiang Qiao asked.

"Nothing, goodbye." She shook her head, turned around and walked into the shadows.

...

On Sunday, Jiang Qiao slept until eight o'clock in the morning, then scrolled through his mobile phone in bed for two hours, and didn't get out of bed until ten o'clock.

After washing up and hastily eating a bag of instant noodles, it was almost eleven o'clock.

Come on, lunch will be settled together. If Cheng Ruoxi finds out, she will be nagged.

In a sense, she is indeed better than her own sister.

He looked at the weather for a while.

It's a sunny day today, and the moon tonight is, as expected, particularly round.

Then, the door to time and space can be opened again at night. I wonder how Sylvie is doing after not contacting her for a week.

Jiang Qiao felt a bit of anticipation in his heart, just like looking forward to the release of a new game.

After finishing my homework, reviewing the knowledge points for a while, and reading some leisure books, it was already three o'clock in the afternoon.

He calmly looked at the glass bottle he placed on the cabinet. The powder inside had reached the bottom.

Jiang Qiao estimated that the powder could be used three or four times at most.

Or, why not just use it up today?

But...Jiang Qiao was afraid that the same situation would happen again that night, and he would not be able to suppress the evil thoughts in his heart.

After some melancholy, Jiang Qiao decided to give it another try.

What are you afraid of? In the worst case, the spell casting will be canceled by force.

Jiang Qiao no longer hesitated, picked up the medicine bottle and writing brush and walked to the backyard.

The strong sunlight shines through the window, making the cement floor a little hot. On the trees outside, the cicadas chirp louder and louder.

It’s October!

Logically speaking, after the Beginning of Autumn, the cicada’s cicada calls will gradually decrease and disappear.

There are more and more strange things happening this year, extreme high temperatures, viruses and overwhelming wildfires... Jiang Qiao said to himself.

Then, he put these worries to the back of his mind and focused on the magic circle diagram he was going to draw next.

The first thing he wanted to try today was still the fireball technique.

The blazing sunlight shines on the drawn magic array, diffracting bursts of dazzling brilliance.

Jiang Qiao began to communicate with the elves.

I don't know if it's because the weather is too good, or because Jiang Qiao's Elvish language skills have improved rapidly.

After speaking the entire sentence, there was a response within just a few seconds.

The wind was blowing, the magic circle was shining, and a beam of fire quickly shot up in his palm instead of sparks.

The strange wind stirred in his hands, and the fire took advantage of the wind, and the flames grew bigger and bigger, surpassing the basketball.

Finally, its size was comparable to the granite balls Jiang Qiao saw in the leisure square.

Could it be that this change comes from the weather?

Jiang Qiao didn't have time to think too much, because that frantic aura emerged in his heart again.

The pleasure of mastering power, the desire to destroy everything, and all kinds of dark thoughts made his mind confused.

He can no longer control his body with his mind.

He tried to control the fireball with his mind, but the fireball was too stubborn and his desire was too strong, and his weak mind could not resist it.

Forcibly suppressing the swelling desire in his body, he recited another ancient elven language.

This is a spell that cancels a spell.

Then, the wind stopped blowing, and the fireball in his hand quickly dissipated like it was deflated.

Even the last spark is gone.

Jiang Qiao sat down on the ground, breathing heavily, and his clothes were already soaked.

This spell-casting consumed too much of his energy, probably twice as much as the previous one.

Fortunately, the situation was slightly better than before. This time he felt that he could slightly control the evil thoughts in his heart.

It won't be like last time where I almost didn't throw the fireball.

As for why the same magic can produce two different effects, Jiang Qiao had a vague guess in his mind.

Perhaps, the natural environment is one of the important conditions that affects the effectiveness of magic casting.

His previous experiments were conducted at night, so the power may not be that obvious. This time during the day, under the scorching sun and clear sky, the power of the fireball technique suddenly became much greater.

Jiang Qiao looked at the pattern of arc magic on the parchment.

So, under different circumstances, will the effect of arc be different?

As soon as the idea came up, he took action.

About twenty minutes later, the sunset rose and the time came to five o'clock.

Jiang Qiao repeated the previous operation, and the natural wind stirred in his hands again. This was the prelude to successfully casting magic. This was the first time he successfully cast arc magic.

Thin silver arcs appeared on his palm.

The electric arc gradually grew larger, wound up into a small ball, and lay on his palm, making a "sizzling" sound from time to time.

Jiang Qiao suddenly felt the swelling irritability and evil thoughts again, but it was much smaller than the fireball technique.

At least he can control it more easily.

There is a layer of air between the palm and the electric ball, and there is a fixed airflow passing through the electric ball. Perhaps because of this, the caster will not be affected by his own magic.

Jiang Qiao looked at the electric ball in his hand, its brilliance was breathtaking.

How about finding something to test its power?

Jiang Qiao was a little excited. He held the electric ball in one hand and went to the front yard. He looked around and finally chose a small piece of grass in the yard.

This place is just stuck at the boundary of the magic circle.

After getting ready, adjusting his breathing, and making sure no one was around, Jiang Qiao aimed at the grass and threw the electric ball in his right hand straight over.

The electric ball expanded into countless fine arcs, traveling so fast that Jiang Qiao couldn't see them clearly.

The low-frequency explosion sounds produced by the electric arc penetrating the air gathered together, giving it a somewhat "thundering" feeling.

The next second, Jiang Qiao saw a large piece of coke in the center of the grass, probably a circle with a diameter of more than one meter.

Without a sustained blow, there would be no time to generate an open flame.

The power far exceeded Jiang Qiao's imagination.

Hitting people...may have a more obvious effect.

At this time, an aunt passed by carrying several bags of vegetables, took a look inside, and said with a smile:

"Hey, Xiaoqiao, are you weeding at home?"

Jiang Qiao was stunned for a while: "Yes, yes...Aunt Wang."

"But remember not to set fire next time, it's so dangerous."

Jiang Qiao could only laugh: "Ah ha ha ha..."

After some pleasantries, neighbor Aunt Wang left with the vegetables.

Jiang Qiao finally breathed a sigh of relief and thought that he would not be able to do experiments in the yard next time.

If someone sees this, he will either be sent to a mental hospital or go to a research institute to be sectioned.
