Unrelated, some thoughts after reading 'Cyberpunk: Edgewalker' (the following content contains spoilers)

[David Martinez: Vodka and ice in a bullet cup, mixed with a small amount of cola. "Life is great, death is glorious."]

There have never been living legends in Night City. Only those who become legends after death can name exclusive wines.

David Martinez is a legend in Night City. Did he become a legend because he rose to fame in the mercenary world? Or did he become a legend by climbing to the top of Arasaka Tower? This is a matter of opinion.

But David himself is like an empty shell who lives only for others. Because of his mother's last wish, at the end of the story, he climbed to the top of Arasaka Tower in a state of wandering on the edge of normality and cyberpsychosis.

Because of Mann's last wish, he continued to "run" and became a runner.

I’ll leave out the classic part of the Riddler between the man and the woman for now. After all, according to my brother, David is a more confused male protagonist than Shinji, so I’ll leave off the Riddler part for now, as blood pressure can easily rise.

The world view of Cyberpunk 2077 is not only filled with concepts such as "high technology, low life". After all, it can be seen from the beginning that David Martinez's family is poor, and this poor family can be found in the place where he lives.

I saw homeless people everywhere in the area, doing all sorts of things that would get them punished.

In a sense, no, I should say in all senses, the cyberpunk worldview is filled with a kind of despair, whether it is Cyberpunk 2077 or Blade Runner. (According to me,

In my words, the runner may be Edgewalker’s tribute to Blade Runner.)

There is only a glimmer of hope in the game. The glimmer of hope in the game lies in blowing up Arasaka Tower. But after blowing up an Arasaka Tower, there will be a new Arasaka Tower. Therefore, the glimmer of hope in the game only lies in V and

The two lovers died happily.

So resistance is one of the melodies of cyberpunk.

But the ending of the resistance is not so happy, because Arasaka Tower has always existed and will continue, and the resistance will never end.

Ordinary people have always struggled, and so does the cyberpunk world, even more seriously.

As an oligarch company in Night City, Arasaka Tower puts profits first, with corporate interests first and personal interests second. Some people want to enter Arasaka Tower and become a corporate dog. Perhaps the reason is that such a company

It's like covering the sky with one hand.

Because one hand covers the sky, I want to enter, climb to the top, and become a master.

Because one hand covers the sky, Arasaka Tower formulated the order rules of Night City.

But under such a set of order and rules, ordinary people can only struggle,

We must be careful of cyberpsychosis, we must go through the struggle of food and clothing, we must also pay attention to insufficient payment, and we must not get involved in venting anger and infighting between gangs.

After all, people without "medical insurance" will not be rescued even if they are seriously injured and on the verge of death, but VIP customers will arrive as soon as possible.

Cyberpsychotics that are not so ubiquitous will kill people on the street, and even experienced runners will fall victim to it; companies that cover the sky with one hand do not value human life, and their partners only value profits, so the middleman will choose to use runners as their victims.

A stepping stone to enter the upper floors of Arasaka Tower; there are runners who block the gun for their companions (lovers), and runners who feel tired due to cyberpsychosis. Runners, their partners who live and die together, will also betray, and the plot of the useless runner's counterattack will also take a turn for the worse.

,

therefore,

There is no hope in the worldview under cyberpunk.

Only the remaining warmth warmed the cold body.

The beauty and romance in the plot may only be reflected when Lucy and David enter the moon through Mewtwo and make a promise under the moon.

When "I Really Want to Stay At Your House" plays, Lucy and David may be filled with hope.

David didn't like the smell of cigarettes. When Lucy fell in love with David, she quit smoking.

When David fell in love with Lucy, it was probably the moment he was riding on the highway on the hospital bed pulley.

Perhaps this is one of the remaining romances and beauty in Night City.

But in the end when this song played, what I faced was loss.

[David Martinez: Vodka and ice in a bullet cup, mixed with a small amount of cola. "Life is great, death is glorious."]

David doesn't know how to drink carbonated drinks. Some people say that the small cola was specially added for Lucy, perhaps because Lucy handed David the carbonated drink in Mewtwo.

But why couldn’t it have been Rebecca handing David the Coke? (My brother’s words)

However, Rebecca was smashed into a bloody pulp by Adam's heavy hammer falling from the sky.

From my brother's point of view, Rebecca is like Lin Yueru from "The Legend of Sword". Although she is careless, the love she gives is "always very quiet".

Lin Yueru died from the collapse of the Demon Locking Tower, and Rebecca died from the Adam's Hammer falling from the sky.

When did Rebecca fall in love with David? I don’t know, maybe it was when David helped Rebecca enter the bar.

David thinks he is unique, but in fact, he is just one of the ordinary people.

He believes that his uniqueness lies in his compatibility with prosthetics and that he will not suffer from symptoms of cyberpsychosis, but after all, he is just a struggling ordinary person.

That is true, but in the end, David did not die in a cyberpsychotic manner.

therefore,

There is no hope in the worldview under cyberpunk.

Only the remaining warmth warmed the cold body.

At the end, Lucy went to the moon alone, and seemed to see David in a trance, but the next moment, she was shocked to realize that David was already dead.

The final blank space is Lucy wearing a spacesuit standing on the lunar soil, facing the sun.

In this way, will she take off her helmet and face death, or return to Earth to face the future? No one knows, because this is an open blank, so you can only imagine it with your own ideas.

It is rare that Trigger Club does not have a plot that depicts the burning element, perhaps because it captures the core of cyberpunk [hope and despair in struggle].

The plot and soundtrack of the original game "Cyberpunk 2077" can be called "excellent".

It's just a pity that CPDR didn't choose to polish the game like Trigger Club did. They just handed over a semi-finished product, spent several years without sincerity, and didn't even fix the bugs.

Within the plot framework given by CPDR, Trigger Club delivered an excellent answer in its own way.

Although in a tragic form.

But it's very cyberpunk.

Although I'm not that keen on cyberpunk,

But it is obvious,

When "I Really Want to Stay At Your House" plays, the picture in my mind will definitely be David and Lucy on the moon. If you like Liaozhai instead of Cthulhu, please collect it: (www.sodu777.net)
