53. Find the nest

On the third floor of a shop, a team was attacked by toothed rats.

A black shadow emerged from the corner, and a member hurriedly lifted up a rotten wooden board used as a shield. The force of the impact hit the crumbling wall, and a large amount of dust fell down.

This is a rat-shaped mutant creature that is nearly one meter long, with hairless, disgusting flesh folds, and huge incisors. Its incisors can easily bite through stone, wood, and bones, and it can eat almost anything.

It is also the food source for most humans.

The team with only stones could hardly cause effective damage to the toothed rat. Two members were scratched during the dodge. At the critical moment, one member pushed down the crumbling wall and pressed the toothed rat underneath. He stepped on it and picked up rocks and smashed them down.

While wailing, the Tooth Rat became silent. A line of subtitles appeared on the member's retina.

Kill the toothed rat and gain experience*10. You will need 40 experience before the next upgrade.

"I gained experience." He breathed a sigh of relief and threw away the stone in his hand.

"We didn't." The two men helped the injured member get up.

The member was stunned: "Only the person who kills it can gain experience?"

What makes people breathe a sigh of relief is that there is no negative status in the attribute panel, and the wounds are just ordinary scratches.

He dragged the toothed rat out of the ruins, hesitated for a moment, picked up the stone again, smashed the toothed rat's mouth into pieces, and broke off the front teeth that could be used as daggers.

Anyway, there is already one person who meets the requirements of the mission.

On the other side, Mu Su, who was walking on a deserted street, asked three team members for their names.

"After knowing the name, Musu can issue corresponding instructions more quickly. Otherwise, you can't call whoever."

The three members said their names and looked around intently.

Chen Yue sighed slightly: "You don't have to say what's on your mind."

Mu Su said eloquently: "How do you know I'm serious if I don't tell you?"

Chen Yue was speechless, knowing that this was a fallacy but unable to refute it. Finally, her face turned cold and she said, "If you don't speak and don't do unnecessary things, I think you will be very, very serious."

"real?"

"real."

Mu Su tugged on his mouth and kept silent.

Mu Su's team was responsible for searching a four-story apartment. After staying at the door for a while, they stepped inside.

At the end of the corridor is an elevator. The metal door is half-open, revealing a dark elevator shaft. There are two corridors extending to the left and right, dimly lit. Useless debris is piled everywhere on the ground.

Some apartment doors were partially open and some were tightly closed. The closed doors left clear traces of being smashed.

They can't get in without opening the door.

Everyone exited the apartment and peered inside through the windows.

Obviously they were not the first to think so. All the rooms were swept away. Maybe it would be better upstairs, but the cracked and worn walls had no place to climb.

Chen Yue led two members to search upstairs. Mu Su and a member named Jerad tried to enter the room from the outside to see if there were any supplies.

"careful……"

Chen Yue was gone and Mu Su returned to normal. He whispered to Gerald who climbed up the window.

"What's wrong?" Gerald paused, ducked slightly and hid behind the wall and asked.

"There may be poop beasts..." Mu Su whispered.

Gerald's face suddenly showed confusion.

"A mysterious creature that often haunts abandoned houses. No one has seen its true face. We only know that when a house is abandoned, the poop beast will sense it and poop in it..."

Gerald didn't know whether he should listen seriously or not, so he climbed into the window with a complicated look.

He first inspected the large and small rooms to make sure there was no danger, then opened the almost rusty door from the inside and called Mu Su to enter.

Vines crawled in from the window, and wooden boards and traces of fires were scattered on the floor of the room. Apart from these, there was nothing else - even the toilet and sink were broken, and porcelain fragments were all over the floor.

A few minutes later, Chen Yue and the others came down from upstairs, shaking their heads slightly.

"It's too close to the gathering point. I'm afraid there have been dozens of waves of people searching for supplies."

There is no point wasting time here. Chen Yue and others returned to the original shop and explained the situation to Joyce.

"That's why we have to stay here." Joyce answered and explained to several people. "There is no doubt that there are supplies deep in the city. Why are they still there after so many years and have not been taken away?"

"Because of danger."

Joyce nodded: "It's dangerous for the survivors, and it's equally dangerous for us, or even more dangerous. Because we don't even have an iron weapon. Don't put yourself in danger before your strength improves. Prioritize completing secondary goals to get rewards.

We will make plans after receiving the reward.”

"Understood." Chen Yue nodded. "What about food and water?"

"There is a river near the entrance of Hale City. Food -"

The shop suddenly went dark, with several figures standing at the door blocking the light source. The leading member was carrying a hairless creature with a bloody head on his back.

"This is the toothed rat." He said, briefly describing the previous encounter and the toothed rat's characteristics, and then displayed the attributes of this toothed rat.

*Death-Toothed Rat: It can be eaten, or it can be brought to gathering points to gain varying experience rewards.

"——It's everywhere here." Joyce continued what he had said before and said to Chen Yue.

With Joyce in charge of logistics, the members don't have to worry about anything other than collecting supplies.

He found some unusable car iron sheets and dented them into shapes to boil water. He used tree oil to make torches and washed strips of cloth to use as bandages.

The rat carcasses were stored in the corner and prepared for use as food and traps.

The sky was getting dark, and the members had advanced to about 300 meters along the long street. Mu Su's team still could not find any supplies or mutated creatures, which made Chen Yue become increasingly impatient.

Once again, without success, the five people returned from the backyard of a shop.

Walking to the edge of a courtyard wall, Chen Yue suddenly lost his footing and his calves fell into the ground. The surrounding members quickly came back to help, but Chen Yue raised his hand to stop him.

With a hint of doubt on her face, she pulled out the leg that was stuck in the ground.

Some wood chips were brought up together, and a dark void appeared on the spot.

After carefully retreating, Chen Yue and a few others brushed away the surrounding sand, and a rotten wooden board appeared in front of everyone's eyes.

It's a cellar.

A member of Musu whose name he couldn't remember got the signal and lifted up the wooden board. A faint cool breeze with a fishy smell hit his face.

Gerrard took out the simple torch made by the logistics team, lit it with flint and handed it to Chen Yue.

Chen Yue took it and put the torch into the dark cellar.

The flickering firelight illuminated the cellar space, with corpses scattered on the ground. There were two dark holes on the earth wall, from where the wind came.

There is a generator placed in the other corner, which has been chewed into many pits and almost lost its prototype.

Some creature uses this place as its lair.

Chen Yue blew out the torch and asked everyone: "What can build a nest underground?"

Mu Su picked up a wooden branch and wanted to write on the ground, but Chen Yue held him up by his ears.

"Honestly."

"It hurts...it's a mouse or an ant."

One member said: "The traces on the ground are very new. No matter what they are, they will come back."
