Chapter 21: The End of the Hero

Seeing this, Zhang Yun thought in his heart: "It seems that my ancestor Zhang Liang is indeed a cultivator of immortality. I hope he can leave some cultivation skills to me..."

While thinking about it, he couldn't wait to look down:

In the winter of the third year of the Han Dynasty (204 BC), after I returned to the Han camp, I learned that during the period of my departure, Liu Bang had suffered several major military setbacks, and the good situation he had established before had been reversed again and again!

The Battle of Pengcheng was even more brutal: Although Liu Bang had hundreds of thousands of troops, he had difficulty coordinating his command, and he did not even have enough food and pay. Therefore, as soon as he engaged in the battle, he suffered a disastrous defeat and almost his entire army was wiped out. At this point, the princes turned to the wind and started to fight one after another.

Backing the Han towards Chu, Liu Bang abandoned his father, wife, children, and fled back to Xiayi with only dozens of horses and horses...

At this time, Liu Bang, the king of Han, was surrounded by Chu troops in Xingyang. The two sides were fighting for a long time without a decision, so I offered a plan to solve the current dilemma...

In the fourth year of the Han Dynasty (203 BC), I offered Liu Bang a plan: "The Chu army is about to be destroyed. Although Han Xin and Peng Yue have been named kings, they have no definite boundaries. This is the reason why they did not come to the appointment this time.

If your majesty can share the world with them, you can recruit two generals immediately. Otherwise, the final success or failure is still unknown."

Liu Bang was determined to solve his urgent need, so he followed my plan and granted the territory from Chendi to the coast to the east of Qi King Han Xin; he also granted the territory from the north of Suiyang to Gucheng to Liang Wang Pengyue.

Two months later, Han and Peng Guoran sent troops to help, and soldiers and horses from all walks of Han army gathered at Gaixia, now on the north bank of Tuohe River in Lingbi County, Anhui Province.

Han Xin first used the "ambush on all sides" strategy to surround Xiang Yu under the Gaixia, and then used the "embarrassment on all sides" strategy to undermine the morale of the enemy soldiers, and finally defeated Xiang Yu, forcing him to bid farewell to his concubine and commit suicide in Wujiang River.

At this point, the four-year-long Chu-Han War ended with Liu Bang's complete victory, establishing the great cause of the Han Dynasty in one fell swoop...

In February of the fifth year of the Han Dynasty (203 BC), Liu Bang officially ascended the throne and was known as Emperor Gaozu of the Han Dynasty in history.

In May of the same year, Liu Bang held a celebration ceremony in the Nangong Palace of Luoyang and held a banquet for all his ministers. During the banquet, the emperor and his ministers drank together.

Liu Bang seemed particularly happy. When talking about the reason why Chu lost the world and the reason why Han won the world, he said that the key was to use three heroes together, namely Xiao He, Zhang Liang, and Han Xin. He praised Zhang Liangdao in his words: "In strategizing,

, the decisive victory is thousands of miles away, I am not as good as Zifang.”…

In the first month of the sixth year of the Han Dynasty, Liu Bang granted a large number of ministers, including Zhang Liang and more than 20 meritorious officials. The rest of the people who had not been granted the title were arguing and competing for credit. I proposed to reward Yong Chi Yi'an, who Liu Bang did not like.

Chen Xin...

Ever since Liu Bang, the great ancestor of the Han Dynasty, entered Guanzhong, the capital, and the world was first settled, I have excused myself from being sick and stayed at home.

As Liu Bang's throne gradually became more stable, I gradually retreated from the position of "the emperor's teacher" to the position of "the emperor's guest", following the principle of doing things as dispensable and advancing as the times...

During the brutal struggle of Liu Bangjian in the early Han Dynasty to destroy the king with a different surname, I stayed home due to illness and rarely participated in the planning.

Secretly rescued the orphans and widows of some murdered heroes and sent them to Zhangjiazhuang to live in seclusion to avoid the pursuit of the Han Dynasty. Among them were Han Xin, Peng Yue, Yingbu, etc., and dozens of princes and soldiers...

During the overt and covert struggles of the Western Han Dynasty royal family, I also abided by the motto of "don't be close if you are not close".

When discussing meritorious service, according to rank, Han Emperor Liu Bang asked me to select 30,000 households in Qi as a fiefdom. I declined and asked to entrust the land where I first met Liu Bang, which is now Peixian County, Jiangsu Province. Liu Bang agreed, so

Some people call me Liuhou.

The reason why I declined the title of fief is: After the country was destroyed and my family was ruined, I became a commoner. I was able to be a commoner and be granted the title of ten thousand households. I was already very satisfied...

Seeing that the Han Dynasty's political power was increasingly consolidated and national affairs were being planned, I have achieved my goal of destroying Qin and avenging Han, and my personal goal of sealing ten thousand households and becoming a marquis. I have no regrets in my life!

Witnessing the tragic endings of Peng Yue, Han Xin and other meritorious ministers, I think of Fan Li, who fled or died after the rise of literature, and deeply understands the meaning of "the cunning rabbit dies, and the lackeys are cooked; the birds are gone, but the good bow is hidden; the enemy's country is destroyed, and the advisers perish"

Philosophically, I am afraid of losing my vested interests, and I am even more afraid that the fate of Han Xin and others will befall me.

In fact, I always keep in mind my mentor's words before leaving. It is the truth to retire as soon as possible and cultivate immortality and enlightenment!

After I resigned, I ignored the worldly affairs and concentrated on practicing Taoism. According to the teachings of my teacher, I found a quiet place to practice, hoping to cultivate the Taoism as soon as possible. But in the world of mortals, how can I not eat the fireworks of the world?

In the sixth year of Emperor Hui's reign (189 BC), I had just passed the year of Jiazi, so I faked my death due to illness and left the world!

Afterwards, I came to Zhangjiazhuang, and instead of blending in with the villagers, I found a clean cave by myself, devoted myself to cultivation, and silently guarded the Zhuangzi and descendants that I had established with my own hands...

There are no years of cultivation, and one hundred and fifty or sixty years have passed in a blink of an eye. I have reached the peak state of condensation, but I can't take the last step and enter the state of elixir.

Seeing that my life span was running out, I became irritated for a moment and had no choice but to continue practicing with great concentration. I had to think of another way to break through!

For more than two hundred years, I have not put down the hexagram techniques taught by my master. Through painstaking study over a long period of time, I have gained a glimpse of some of the great secrets of heaven.

So he took a bath and burned incense, and divined a hexagram. The hexagram said: "There is a deep pit within ten miles around. This pit contains the secret of immortality!"

I discovered this huge pit decades ago and collected many magical elixirs to make elixirs here. When I descended a thousand meters into the pit, I suddenly discovered that there was a force below that swallowed up the mana and soul of the monks, so I stayed away from it.

Open, and no one dares to approach it again.

Now I don't have much life left. Since the hexagram indicates that there is a secret to longevity here, I choose to take a risk!

I came to the location of this pothole and flew downward with my sword. I originally thought that it would be a few thousand meters deep to reach the bottom. However, after descending to 10,000 meters, it was still too deep to reach the bottom.

In the process of descending, a part of my true energy had to be allocated to resist the devouring power. So I let go of the speed, and part of my mind controlled the speed, while the rest was used to mobilize my spiritual power to resist the devouring force.

After descending at a constant speed for about a day and a night, I let go of my spiritual vision and saw the bottom of the pothole more than 2,000 meters down.

I estimate that the depth of this cave is about 2,500 kilometers, and there are some holes in the cave wall 800 to 900 kilometers above for me to meditate and restore my true energy.

The stone walls that are thousands and hundreds of kilometers below are as smooth as jade and slippery, giving them no chance to restore their spiritual power.

I can only grit my teeth and insist on falling, and I have to use most of my true energy to resist the devouring power, and now it is almost exhausted!

The bottom of the pit was very large, and a sea of bright stars caught my eye, so I flew up the valley with my sword.

Who knew that when I descended to about a thousand meters from the valley floor, my devouring power suddenly increased greatly. At the same time, it was difficult to mobilize the true energy in my body. In the end, I lost my essence and blood to stabilize the speed of my descent.

.But it was too late, I fell from a height of one thousand meters to the bottom of the valley with my sword in hand.

Fortunately, when I fell to the bottom of the valley, I hit a ten-thousand-year-old tree, which acted as a great buffer.

Since I was a monk in the peak stage of liquid condensation, I had an unusually strong physique. It would be no exaggeration to say that I had steel ribs and iron bones. After falling to the bottom of the valley, I suffered several fractures on my body, but I was lucky enough not to die.

After surviving, I took some elixirs to recuperate my injuries and tried to meditate.

Who knew that the Five Elements Spiritual Energy here was difficult to mobilize, let alone used for cultivation.

Moreover, the spiritual energy in the body was attracted by the devouring power and overflowed, and most of the mind must be used to resist the devouring power.

People who are tortured every day are exhausted, miserable and miserable!

When I saw hundreds of fruit trees at the bottom of the valley, all bearing bright-colored fruits, especially those huge peaches, I couldn't help but think of the legendary peach garden of the Queen Mother of Yaochi.

I couldn't help but be overjoyed and thought to myself: "Are these fruits the secret of immortality indicated by the hexagram? It seems that God is really showing mercy!"

So I ate all the fruits on each fruit tree and marked them so that I didn't miss any kind.

As a result, not only did I not get the effect of immortality, but I also found that my vitality was lost very quickly in this place, more than ten times!

If this continues, I estimate that I still have more than 20 years to live, but I can only last two or three years here at most. I really regret it!

What I did next was a little crazy. I tried eating all the flowers, branches, leaves, roots, etc. of all the plants here. I even dug out the bark and roots of these fruit trees and ate them. But.

In the end, we didn’t find the secret of immortality. It’s really sad!

After recovering from his injuries, he also tried to climb to the peak of the valley, preparing to go outside to find the secret of immortality.

But when I approached the top of the mountain, the devouring power outside was so powerful that no human being could resist it. About half a year of my life force was instantly lost, which scared me so much that I ran back quickly.

I thought that I, Zhang Liang, once lived as a hero, but now I have fallen into such a miserable and miserable state!

When Zhang Yun saw this, he couldn't help but sigh: "What a hero's end! It seems that my luck is really good. Although there is only one step between me and my ancestors, we have lost a thousand miles!"

After sighing, he then looked down:

Now I have been living at the bottom of this valley for two years, and I see that my life is not long, so I leave this note for future generations!

No! I hope no one will ever come to this ghost place again!

At the back of the note is the entire "Prime Number" written by me, including "Tai Gong's Art of War", "Huang Shi Gua Technique", "Basic Methods of Immortal Cultivation" and "The Technique of Using the Basic Magic of the Five Elements", the technique of refining alchemy and medicine, and

Some of my cultivation experiences...

In addition, there are also the blue-light sword given by the teacher, the storage bag, the two jade slips given by the teacher "Water Soft Sword Art" and the five elements of water magic...

As for the palm-sized piece of broken copper, it is a rare treasure I obtained from the Qin Palace, and I haven’t fully understood it yet!

I have left behind the specific uses of various treasures, and I will write them down in the Immortal Cultivation Experience section later, so I won’t go into details here.

I hope that those who are destined in future generations will get the relics I left behind. If I can return to the ground in my lifetime, please take more care of Zhangjiazhuang outside.

If possible, leave a copy of this handwritten book I wrote in the village. I, Zhang Liang, will be grateful for your kindness!
