2053 Panic Britain

For the past year, the British government has been debating endlessly.

The focus of the debate is to what extent support for Germany should continue.

The purpose of Britain's continental balancing policy is to maintain the balance of power in Europe. Only when the strength gap between several major European countries is not large can Britain ensure its own security.

After the end of World War I, Germany was greatly restricted. In order to restrain France, Britain did not hesitate to provide billions of pounds in loans to Germany and acquiesced that Germany would no longer pay World War I reparations.

After Germany frequently broke through the provisions of the Treaty of Versailles and took back the Rhineland by force, Britain intensified its efforts and allowed Germany to form a fleet whose strength did not exceed 60% of the Royal Navy.

According to the provisions of the Treaty of Versailles, the German Navy could only possess six 10,160-ton non-dreadnought battleships equipped with 280 mm main guns, as well as six light cruisers, 12 destroyers and 12 torpedo boats. It was not allowed to build or own submarines.

Last October, Britain and Germany negotiated and finally allowed Germany to build a fleet of five battleships, two aircraft carriers, 21 cruisers, and 64 destroyers.

According to this agreement, Germany began building the "Scharnhorst" and "Gneisenau" pocket battleships at the end of last year. Both battleships have a displacement of 26,000 tons.

Two 26,000-ton battleships still cannot pose a real threat to the Royal Navy.

However, Germany is not a signatory to the "Washington Naval Treaty" and the "London Naval Treaty", and the construction of warships is not restricted by these two treaties. The real threats to the Royal Navy are the "Bismarck" that Germany plans to build, and

"Tirpitz".

Unlike the two 26,000-ton pocket battleships, the "Bismarck" and "Tirpitz" are both 45,000-ton G7-class super battleships. Once completed, they will pose a real threat to the Royal Navy.

This is a huge adventure for Britain.

But if this can satisfy the appetite of the Germans, then it is obviously worth it for the UK.

In fact, the German Navy was indeed unable to compete with the Royal Navy.

Regardless of the agreement between Britain and Germany, Germany was both a battleship and an aircraft carrier. In fact, in another time and space, until the outbreak of the World War, the Germans had only built two battleships, 11 cruisers, 25 destroyers, and one aircraft carrier.

None have been built.

This has a lot to do with the resources Germany possesses.

To build a powerful fleet, in addition to technology, you also need sufficient resources.

Germany has only restored part of its strength, and its domestic resources are already limited. If it wants to build a large fleet, it cannot take into account the development of its air force and army.

For Germany, the status of the army and air force is obviously more important than that of the navy.

This is normal.

The British may be stupid, but the Germans are very sober.

Since it is impossible for the German Navy to defeat the Royal Navy even if it goes all out to build warships, then why should it build warships while taking advantage of its shortcomings and avoiding its strengths? It is better to use limited resources to build a strong army.

After all, the final solution to the problem still depends on the Army.

While Britain was digging a hole for Germany, it was not idle either.

As mentioned earlier, the year before last, the United Kingdom formulated an air force plan to add 45 air fleets within two years.

As a result, the British government's funding for the Air Force was only a pitiful 150,000 pounds in the first year, which directly led to Lord Londonderry's resignation as Air Secretary.

Last year, the British government's budget for the air force finally increased, but it was still not enough.

Winston reminded members of Congress in Congress that they should pay enough attention to the Air Force.

Look at the Southern African Air Force.

Look at the British Empire Air Force again.

Winston is really worried that once World War II breaks out, London will be like Madrid now, facing the threat of enemy aircraft at all times.

It's a pity that no one paid attention to Winston.

Not to mention giving the Air Force enough attention.

A considerable number of politicians in the British government did not believe Winston's judgment on World War II at all.

Or they don't want to believe it.

Speaking of Madrid.

After Russia upgraded the aircraft it provided to the Spanish Republican government from the I-15 to the I-16, the republican government once gained air superiority and the "Condor Legion" suffered heavy losses.

The German Air Force made rapid progress and immediately put the latest Bf109 fighter jets into the Spanish battlefield to regain air superiority, and upgraded the "Junkers" to Ju-87 bombers, greatly increasing their combat effectiveness.

The Ju-87 is the famous Stuka.

Before the Spanish Civil War broke out, the Germans began to develop a new bomber.

In terms of aircraft, Germany started late and had a serious lack of accumulation, so the research on new bombers did not go smoothly.

After France took the initiative to tear up the military procurement agreement with southern Africa, Germany's research and development speed suddenly accelerated. At the beginning of this year, the Stuka was finally successfully developed, so Mustache couldn't wait to put the Stuka into the Spanish battlefield.

At this time, the Luftwaffe had not even entered service yet.

This is also understandable.

The Germans hoped to test the performance of the Stuka in Spain so that they could make further improvements to the Stuka.

Therefore, the German Air Force in this time and space should be stronger than the German Air Force in another time and space.

The strength of the German Air Force increased by leaps and bounds, causing anxiety in Britain.

The British also know that even if Germany builds a powerful high seas fleet, it will not be a match for the Royal Navy.

Therefore, if Germany wants to attack the British mainland, its air force is the biggest hidden danger.

The British Air Force currently has approximately 1,000 aircraft.

It sounds huge in scale, but its performance is seriously lagging behind, at least not as good as the German BF109 and Stuka.

"Locke, stay safe." Winston came to southern Africa for the fifth time in three years, this time as Air Secretary.

After Lord Londonderry resigned, no one was willing to take over the post of Air Secretary. In the end, Winston was forced to take the blame.

After Winston became Air Force Secretary, he immediately came to Southern Africa to seek help from Rock, hoping that Southern Africa could help the British Air Force improve its strength.

"Congratulations on your return to the center of British power, I wish you great success." Rock was not being sarcastic. He even felt a little distressed when he saw the aging Winston.

Think about how Roark met Winston for the first time. Winston, who was only 26 years old at the time, was so high-spirited and scolded Fang Qiu.

Now Winston has just turned 60 years old. He is severely put on weight and bald. He smokes all year round, causing great damage to Winston's body. He also has the habit of drinking.

Rock is still very self-disciplined and runs five kilometers every morning, rain or shine, and his figure is not seriously out of shape.

Phyllis was very strict about tobacco and alcohol. Roque could only smoke one cigar a day and drink wine, and the amount could not exceed 100 grams a day. Even at state banquets, Roque only tasted it lightly.

Rock's self-discipline makes many people even feel desperate.

Judging from Rock's physical condition, even if he works for another 30 years, it is probably possible.

In terms of Roque's prestige in southern Africa, no one can compete with Roque as long as he is willing.

"Thank you for your blessing, but I have made a retirement plan for myself. After I retire, I will come to Pretoria to settle." Winston has a manor in the suburbs of Pretoria and resigned as finance minister last year.

Afterwards, Winston even sent his most beloved horse to a manor on the outskirts of Pretoria. If he had not served as Air Secretary, Winston might have retired.

Rock declined to comment on Winston's retirement plan.

Plans always fail to keep up with changes. Neville is at best a "tinker" and cannot lead Britain to win the world war. When the time comes, Winston will most likely be called upon to turn the tide.

Winston, like Rock, is not someone who gives up easily.

Otherwise, I would not have just become Air Force Secretary and impatiently come to Southern Africa.

"The League of Nations has decided to impose an arms embargo on Spain. The Secretary-General of the League of Nations is from southern Africa, but Southern Africa does not abide by the rules of the League of Nations. It's really your fault." Winston also had all kinds of envy and jealousy towards Roque.

If Britain had the strength of Southern Africa.

If Britain had such a superior geographical environment as southern Africa.

If Britain had such rich resources as southern Africa

It's a pity that there is no if.

"Germany and Italy are using Spain as their training ground, what do you think?" Roque asked, everyone is the same, don't tell anyone.

Germany uses Spain as its weapons testing ground, and Italy uses Spain as its military training ground.

The Germans improved not only aircraft, but also tanks.

The initial version of the Type 1 tank was only 5.4 tons, and the latest Type 1 tank has a total combat weight of 15 tons.

Information provided by Bullard's office shows that Germany has begun developing Panzer III and Panzer IV tanks since last year. The prototype of Panzer III has already rolled off the production line and is expected to be used on the Spanish battlefield.

The overall performance of the T26 is similar to the German No. 1 tank.

When the Panzer III tank enters the war, the fate of the T26 will most likely be the same as that of the I-16.

This is what really worries Winston, the Germans are progressing too fast.

"For us, Russia is the real threat." Winston distinguished the priorities. Germany and Italy were threats to the United Kingdom, but they were far inferior to Russia.

If Germany and Italy win the war, then Winston and his gang will still rule Britain, and nothing will change.

If Russia wins the final victory

Then things will get serious. The British king may be overthrown, and Britain, like Russia, will truly become a working class country.

So this is not a question of who to support. From a historical perspective, beam sticks are indeed anti-human.

However, the British colonization was not much better than a stick. What the Germans later did were all done by the British. It was only because the British were the final victors that Germany was marked as the pillar of shame in history.

Neither Rock nor Winston could convince the other. A week later, the bad news suddenly came that King George V of England had passed away.
