71. Dense fog

Lulutis relied on optical camouflage to be the first to arrive at the entrance of the cave. After listening carefully for a while, she motioned for Lu Yu to come over as well.

Lu Yu glanced outside through the criss-crossing dead branches at the entrance of the cave. The surroundings were completely white and nothing could be seen.

"Woooooo~~~"

A gust of wind blew by, and the whining sound sounded again.

Several times in a row, the sound only came out when the wind blew, which made Lu Yu suddenly realize.

"It turns out it's just the wind."

It's just the narrow tube effect, it's normal.

Lu Yu, who thought it was nothing, greeted them and continued playing cards, but Lulutis stretched out her tentacles and grabbed him.

"Tap tap, tap tap..."

"Is this also a rumor?" Lulutis asked.

The obvious sound of horse hooves made Lu Yu move closer immediately. When he looked out, he saw a knight in silver armor galloping past.

After a while, dense footsteps sounded.

A group of adventurers-looking people emerged from the fog and appeared in front of Lu Yu and others. After briefly identifying their location, they squatted down, seemed to confirm the horse's hoof prints, and then chased the direction the knight left.

After walking along the Luotan River for nearly two months, this was the first time Lu Yu saw people after leaving the Yas area, although the faces of these people could not be seen clearly due to the heavy fog.

After everyone left, Lu Yu silently wrote down the direction in which the group of people left. The three of them stopped playing cards and went to bed early to conserve their energy and get up early tomorrow morning to get on their way.

At dawn, the fog dissipated. After Lu Yu left the cave entrance, he found the place where the adventurer and the knight passed by yesterday. The dense footprints and deep horse hoof prints were clearly visible.

After walking along the horse's hoof prints for some distance, the sky was covered with dark clouds, and for some reason, mist gradually began to rise in the forest.

Lu Yu quickly looked around to see if there were any tree holes that he could drill into.

At this moment, the ground shook.

The trees in the distance were knocked down by the extremely fast giant, and several towering trees fell in the direction of Lu Yu.

Lu Yu saw Lulutis in the dangerous area and wanted to rush towards him, so he shouted anxiously: "Don't come over, hide!"

After saying that, he swooped down and rolled down a small slope to the side.

The unknown creature roared away angrily. Every step he took was forceful and heavy. Lu Yu's whole body was trembling when he stamped on the ground. Countless new branches and leaves of trees fell down amidst his roar.

It wasn't until there was absolutely no movement around that Lu Yu climbed up the slope.

Lu Yu was frightened when he saw the huge and deep marks on the ground and the towering trees that had fallen down not far away.

What kind of creature is this? It has such powerful power. Its destructive power is comparable to that of a dragon, right?

Are Lulutis and Sigrid okay?

He tried shouting a few times, but got no response.

I climbed up the fallen tree and looked around. Wherever I saw, there was thick fog and I couldn't see the distance at all.

It's bad now, the fog is so heavy. According to the dragon's reminder, it is very risky to move in the fog. But if I don't move at this moment, won't I lose contact with Lulutis and the others?

After thinking for a moment, Lu Yu felt that something was very wrong.

After leaving the Dragon Valley for so long, fogging at night and even in the early morning was normal, but he had never seen fog suddenly appear three hours after sunrise.

Suspicious of everything around him, Lu Yu took back his stepped foot.

He decided to just stay where he was as a lost child, waiting for Lulutis and Sigrid to be found.

He didn't believe that Lulutis and Sigrid couldn't find so many fallen trees as reference points.

Lu Yu made up his mind and found a place to rest on the spot. Because he was hungry, he lit a fire and ate some roasted wolf meat.

The sky is still gloomy, but the traces of the passage of time can be vaguely seen. The sky is getting darker and night is approaching.

The surrounding fog is still thick, and Lulutis and Sigrid are still missing.

After waiting for a long time, Lu Yu stood on a high place and looked around. He could hear nothing except the chirping of animals in the forest.

Lu Yu threw several flash spells one after another into the fog, and the light balls like flares shone with a hazy white light in the fog.

Wind attribute magic splits the thick fog, but it can only expand the field of vision less than a few meters, and the thick fog will "heal" soon.

With his brows furrowed tighter, Lu Yu mobilized his magic power and prepared to start the summoning ceremony.

"Captain, did you see the ball of light in the fog just now? Is it some kind of treasure?"

"What treasure? I think it's just a trap used by monsters to lure prey into the bait. But it's okay. The weather was weird today and we didn't hunt anything. Even one monster can be considered a harvest."

"Please follow closely, the fog is so thick, there are no other big guys hiding in it."

Although this group of adventurers spoke in low voices, the forest was too quiet as night fell, and Lu Yu could clearly hear their conversation, as well as the sounds of objects rubbing and colliding with each other.

Not traveling lightly proves that this group of adventurers probably used an ambush to deal with the monsters.

The fog is so heavy today, and there are indeed a lot fewer active monsters and animals in the forest, so it makes sense that there will be no harvest.

From the conversation, Lu Yu analyzed the situation of this group of people.

Although it is dangerous to contact a complete formation of strangers in the wild, Lu Yu will inevitably be discovered if he hides at this moment. If he escapes, it is unclear whether he will be chased back.

According to the method he had explored before, Lu Yu modified the contents of the summoning contract and was ready to start the summoning ceremony at any time. Then, he fired another flash in the direction of the sound.

"Captain, it's the breath of magic...it dodges me to death!"

"There are magicians and other adventurers, please be alert!"

"Why the hell are you standing there? Do you want to be burned to a crisp by the fireball? Get down here!"

The reaction is very real. When encountering the magical aura in the wild, your face will be blurred. As a person who licks blood from the edge of a knife, all responses are correct.

After confirming so much, Lu Yu just wanted to know if he was dreaming, or hallucinating deep down, or... the thick fog around him could create an illusory scene.

No wonder Lu Yu was so suspicious, because the sudden monster was so strange.

He suddenly appeared, but his appearance was invisible, and he separated himself from Lulutis in an instant. After that, he lost contact with Lulutis and Sigrid.

"Adventurer?" Lu Yu called to the team in the fog.

"Magic, right? We are just hunting monsters. We don't want to conflict with you. Let's leave now."

"This was a misunderstanding. I was trapped in the fog and couldn't find a way out, so I used flash magic everywhere to find a way out."

"you alone?"

"right."

After getting Lu Yu's answer, a long time later, a middle-aged archer jumped down from the tree and carefully groped around Lu Yu.

After seeing Lu Yu, he looked around again, and after confirming that everything was correct, returned.

After a while, a team of six adventurers appeared in front of Lu Yu.

The team leader is a young woman with a ponytail. Just by looking at her white fingers, you can tell that she is the mage in the team. After all, the hands of everyone else in the team, including a female team member, are covered with calluses.

"I'm Captain Daphne, would you mind introducing yourself?"

"Lu Yu, the magician, is currently traveling around."

After the rest of Daphne's team checked the surroundings and thoroughly confirmed that Lu Yu was not a decoy for some team, Daphne also breathed a sigh of relief.

"When there is heavy fog in this area, there will always be some scary guys. If you are not familiar with the environment here, people trapped and lost in the fog will most likely be devoured by those monsters after nightfall. We are also doing the final

I mistook your flashing spell for a fishing monster."

"Scary guy?"

A strong man next to Daphne reminded: "Captain, it's almost nightfall, let's go."

Daphne nodded and said to Lu Yu: "There is a human city-state not far away, where many adventurers are active. Do you want to go with us?"

"I have two companions who are lost with me, and I would like to hire you to help me find them." Lu Yu said.

"You are a traveler, so you may not know the rules here. The sunset is foggy, and not many people will accept the commission unless you can offer a price that no one can refuse."

Daphne turned around and left, obviously not wanting to stay in the wild after sunset.

Another girl in the team saw Lu Yu still staying where he was, and advised: "Since you don't plan to follow us, then don't walk around at night, and don't light a fire. Making a fire will attract all those guys.

"

"Actually, it's better for you to follow Captain Daphne. Your companions will also look for you if they get lost. There are adventurers active around here when there is no heavy fog. If you meet those adventurers, your companions will also arrive at 'Suna'

.Even if not, if you want to hire adventurers, you have to go to a place with many adventurers to issue a commission, right?"

Lu Yu hesitated again and again, looking at the big tree under his feet that separated him from Lulutis, and sighed.

He picked up his luggage and caught up with Team Daphne.

"Wise choice. Spending the night alone in the fog is courageous, but incredibly stupid." The archers in the team said to Lu Yu.

"Can you tell me, what is the monster in the fog you are talking about?"

Daphne retreated from the front of the team to Lu Yu and explained: "Mist demon."

"They are good at using magic and are extremely active in foggy weather. Adventurers are often killed by the strange creatures they construct with magic."

"What kind of weird creature?"

"There is no exact shape, but I have seen two types. One is half a skeleton and half a human with flesh and blood. The other is a huge creature covered in white mist, with an outline like a cow, and a body shape that is infinitely close to that of a giant dragon."

"According to other adventurers' descriptions, the objects constructed by the fog demon in the fog are all kinds of and difficult to detect. This is why the adventurers here are unwilling to accept commissions in foggy weather."
