703. On the execution ground

The three Aung San brothers had been lying on the roof chatting for a while, when they noticed that the stars in the night sky had receded, and the sky lit up with a touch of fish belly white.

The wife ran out of the house and shouted to her husband on the roof: "Aung San, Randy has woken up..."

Aung San sat up from the roof tiles. Regardless of the dew on his body, he jumped down from the roof and walked into the room first. He saw his son sitting up from the bed. Although he looked a little weak, he was very energetic.

"dad!"

The son sat on the bed and shouted this. Aung San felt his whole heart was warm. It seemed that the commander had not lied to him.

This was the first time that Aung San felt that the Green Empire people were not too difficult to get along with, and he felt a sense of gratitude to the commander of the garrison camp from the bottom of his heart.

He walked over quickly and took his son into his arms.

The wife brought back a clay pot of water from behind and fed it to her son.

Aung San stroked the son's head and said to him: "Go to sleep, take another nap, and everything will be fine when you get up.".

 …

He thought that in the forest yesterday, the officer had not shot him to death with an arrow, so he left the forest in a panic and returned directly to Duodan Town along a path outside the city.

It was already night when he arrived at Duodan Town. Just as he climbed over the northern city wall, he met the officer standing behind him again...

"Are you a resident of Duodan Town?" the officer asked him, his voice so calm that his body trembled unconsciously.

“I am a gatherer in the forest.” Aung San patted the flat wicker basket on his waist and answered honestly.

The officer nodded, walked out of the darkness, and asked him: "Do you usually enter the city like this?"

Aung San's heart brightened, and he forced a smile: "When I come back late, I will climb the wall like this, otherwise I will freeze outside the city all night. Our northern city wall is usually used to defend against the monsters in the Invercargill Forest.

, I don’t really mind if someone climbs the wall.”

When he said these words, Aung San’s calves were shaking.

But what surprised him later was that the officer actually climbed over the forty-meter-high northern city wall with him by relying on the climbing rope.

As soon as he climbed to the top of the city, Aung San saw his younger brother Tula wearing the armor of the city defense army, waiting there anxiously.

“What happened?” Aung San realized that something might have happened at home that could not be solved. Otherwise, Latu would not have been waiting for him on the city wall with such a panic. He did not say that he would definitely come back to town tonight.

The second brother Latu said to Aung San with a guilty look on his face: "Randi is sick and has been in coma for several days. Everyone is waiting for you to come back and make up your mind."

Ang San's heart sank, and he walked quickly down the city wall with Latu, saying as he walked: "Let's go home and see why Randy is sick. Wasn't he fine when I left?"

These city defense guards all knew Aung San. When they saw Aung San passing by, they greeted him cordially. Aung San just forced a smile and responded. He felt a chill on his back. The officer kept following Aung San.

, looking just like his companions, the three of them silently walked down the city wall.

When Aung San returned home, the officer actually followed him all the time. When he saw the yard of his house, his son who had been sleeping in bed and his wives who were in a mess, Aung San felt that

Only then did the coldness in the officer's eyes subside.

When the wives saw Aung San coming back from outside the town, they suddenly seemed to have a backbone. They reviewed themselves in front of Aung San, cried and begged him, asking him to find a way to save Randy. But what could Aung San do? He thought of wicker

The silver leaf grass in the basket, I heard that this herb has always been the main ingredient in making primary healing potions. How about trying this magic herb?

At this moment, Aung San heard the officer say to him: "Take your child and follow me, and I can help you..."

 …

Aung San's thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door. Someone was banging on the door outside the yard. Aung San felt cold and told his wife: "You are in the house. No matter what happens outside, don't come out. I'll go out and take a look."

"

The wooden courtyard door was kicked open by someone from the outside and fell violently into the yard, shattering into several pieces of wood.

Several heavily armed city guards broke in from the outside, holding spears in their hands, aiming at the three brothers Lyon Hill and Latu in the courtyard.

Latu saw clearly that it was fellow soldiers from the city defense team who rushed into his home with weapons in hand. He immediately raised his eyes and shouted at them in a low voice: "Why are you so crazy? Come to my house and kick in the door?"

“I asked them to kick me!” A knight walked in from outside the crowd, walked in front of the city guards, and stared at Aung San and Latu with a serious look on his face.

Latu was slightly startled, with an expression of disbelief on his face, and shouted: "Captain..."

Obviously everyone was gambling together yesterday, but we didn’t expect that just after the night, people came to break down the door.

The captain of the city defense army scolded with a sullen face: "Latu, you are no longer a soldier of the city defense army. Come and tie up these two brothers."

Latu didn't understand what happened. He saw people rushing up around him. Just when he wanted to resist, Aung San grabbed his arm. The family members hid in the house behind him. The consequences of resisting would be to drag down the family, and the two brothers would not be able to resist.

He resisted and was captured.

The youngest brother wanted to step forward to stop him, but Aung San shouted him back.

The captain of the city defense team saw that Aung San was so responsible, his gloomy expression softened slightly, and he ordered his soldiers to escort the two men back to the town hall.

On the way, he asked Aung San: "Did you bring a stranger over the city wall into Dodan Town last night?"

“Well, I came back late from the city. I didn’t want to spend the night outside, so I climbed over the city wall and returned to the town.” Aung San said.

He heard that the captain of the city defense team wanted to investigate Viru, and thinking that Viru had almost killed an entire adventure group, he certainly would not answer truthfully.

The captain of the city defense team whispered to Aung San: "Who is that person with you? Think about what you did outside the city yesterday. You can think about it on the way to the town hall.

Don’t say nothing when you meet the mayor. Aung San, we all live in the town and we all know each other so well, you’d better be more knowledgeable and don’t make things difficult for your brothers.”

He did not continue to ask questions, so he brought Aung San and Latu to the town hall. Under the steps outside the town hall, he actually caught some other collectors in the town. These people usually spend time in the Invercargill Warcraft Forest.

Collecting various mountain products and medicinal herbs, everyone was familiar with each other. When Aung San saw them, his heart became completely cold.

This is not to investigate what happened yesterday. The mayor sent people to capture the collectors. Nine out of ten have already reached an agreement with the business group. Now he just wants to find a group of scapegoats to make the collectors outside the city

The robbery case was quickly settled.

He glanced at his younger brother Latu, who was trapped like a rice dumpling next to him, with an apology in his eyes.

Latu was not a stupid aborigine. He immediately guessed Mayor Marco’s true intention. Although he was frightened and angry, he could only stand beside Aung San without saying a word.

In the morning in the small town, the sun shines into the yard, and many people are already gathered on the street.

Mayor Marco was standing on the steps in front of the town hall at this time. He walked up to Aung San and asked with a gloomy face:

“I heard that you left the city yesterday and came back at night?”

“Yes, Lord Mayor.” Aung San replied, kneeling at the foot of the steps, his hands tied with ropes, and his body hunched.

“What did you do outside the city?” Marco walked down the steps and stood in front of Aung San, putting a foot in a long leather boot on Aung San’s shoulder.

Aung San was trampled by Mayor Marco until he was lying on the ground, with his face pressed to the ground, and he reluctantly defended:

“Mr. Mayor, I just collected some mountain products in the forest outside the city!”

Mayor Marco angrily reprimanded: "You are lying. It was you collectors who colluded with the natives and bandits in the villages outside to rob the adventure group in the town. Come and escort them to the punishment stone in the square, waiting for the town.

When several chief officials arrived at the square, they were executed on the spot."

After giving these aboriginal gatherers a chance to defend themselves, a group of guards rushed up and tied strips of cloth over the mouths of all the gatherers to silence them collectively.

The collectors led by Aung San were escorted by the city guards to a square not far from the town hall. There is a punishment stone in this square, which is usually a place to punish criminals and thieves. Thieves are usually sentenced to whipping.

, some women who committed crimes would be tied to the punishment stone and basked in the sun without food or drink. Some women could not bear the humiliation and would be bumped to death on the punishment stone.

Over time, the entire punishment stone turned reddish brown.

Seeing the mayor and town officials sitting on the edge of the square, the city guard standing behind Aung San had the opportunity to whisper to him:

“The mayor wants to kill a few people to get rid of this matter. Boss Aung San, my brothers can’t help with this matter. I can only wait until the execution to avoid causing you too much pain.”

"We know that there was a new face who went back to town with you, Boss Aung San, last night. If you can reveal the person who went back to town with you, you might be able to pin the blame on that person. Then it will be enough."

Let Boss Aung San and Brother Latu escape." The city defense guard continued to say in a low voice.

Aung San knew that he wanted to know information about Vilu, so he immediately puffed up his chest, stared at the city guard with cold eyes, and said: "I was the only one who climbed the wall back to the town last night. The person following me was

Latu, there is no one else at all."

The city defense guard could only nod slightly, and sighed and said: "Well, they say that you, Aung San, are the boss among the collectors in the town, and you can indeed deserve the title of 'boss'. Since you said so, what happened last night?"

None of the brothers on duty on the city wall saw any strangers."

Aung San glanced at the city guard again and hesitated before saying: "If Latu and I die here, I would also like to trouble you to tell my brother and ask him to take the whole family and leave Dodan Town as soon as possible.

Go to Wilkes City to make a living and never come back, and don't even think about avenging the two of us."

The city guard promised in a low voice: "Boss Aung San, don't worry, the news will be brought to you."

 …

Mayor Marco was sitting on a chair on the edge of the square with a sullen face. The slave trade business had been messed up. He hadn't slept at all in the past two days. All signs indicated that it was the group of fugitives under the business group who had done this.

He had his hands and feet, but he led people to search outside the city for a day and a night, but no evidence was found.

In order to prevent the incident from expanding its impact, he had to swallow this breath and hastily settle the matter.

There are only a few officials in the town who have arrived, including the captain of the city defense brigade, the tax collector of Dodan Town, the census clerk of Dodan Town, etc. Only the new garrison commander of Dodan Town, Surdak

Before arriving at the square, Mayor Marco glanced impatiently at Mrs. Luna beside him.

Mrs. Luna could only force out a smile and looked towards the garrison camp.

The garrison commander, Mr. Surdak, just walked out of the camp and walked along the dirt road towards the square.

When Surdak walked to the square, Surdak did not go to join the officials in the town first. Instead, he walked to the punishment stone and saw a group of aborigines kneeling on the spot with their hands, feet and mouths bound.

It looked like he was a criminal awaiting execution.

He did not expect that the mayor of the town, Marco, who said that "the members of the bandit gang will be tried at the town hall tomorrow" actually found such a group of scapegoats. If Viru didn't happen to know the inside story, maybe he would be suppressed in this matter.

These officials were kept in the dark.

Suldak walked slowly to where the town officials gathered.

Mayor Marco glanced at Suldak coldly, and yelled at his secretary, Mrs. Luna, at the top of his lungs: "When delivering notices in the future, try to be as early as possible, and make the meeting time clear, and who is not in charge?"

There are a lot of things that cannot be done just because some people are late..."

Mrs. Luna blushed and replied in a low voice: "I understand, Mr. Mayor."

Mayor Marco waved his hand impatiently, and without even looking at Suldak, he said to the town officials: "Okay, since everyone's time is very limited, I will inform you about this matter as a routine

, and then everyone voted by a show of hands."

Mayor Marco paused for a moment, his cold eyes swept over the faces of the town officials, and then he said:

"Those people in the square robbed an adventure group outside the city the day before yesterday. Now the town's city defense team has arrested them. Duodan Town is in an emergency period now. My idea is to execute them on the spot. Agreed.

No need to raise your hands..."

This group of town officials all lowered their heads and looked at their toes. The scene was extremely quiet for a while.

Mayor Marco's eyes widened and he cursed at the town officials in front of him: "Why don't you people speak? Are you all mute? People who know you know that you agree with my decision. Outsiders see you like this.

, I thought your silence was a silent resistance..."

The town tax official quickly forced out a smile that was uglier than crying, and said to Mayor Marco: "Mayor, we all agree that if there is no one else, I will go and sort out the tax accounts. Mayor...

"

Mayor Marco’s face brightened slightly and he nodded slightly.

"I disagree!"

Suldak stood among these people, raised his hands and said loudly.
