710. City Defense Brigade

The mercenaries of the Trading Company's armed group were still surrounding the five four-wheeled wagons filled with goods. Surdak walked to the four-wheeled wagons and looked at one of the carriages filled with barrels of strange-smelling goods.

There were almost fifty or sixty barrels of black kerosene in the nearly six-meter-long carriage, and the oak barrels were covered with a thick layer of rainproof tarpaulin.

Suldak walked over and uncovered the rainproof tarp. The oak barrel was also covered with the seal of the city defense brigade. He turned to stare at Captain Hans behind him and asked: "Captain Hans, are you preparing these black fires?"

Where did the oil go? Do you know that if you misappropriate war supplies without authorization, you will be subject to investigation by the Bena Provincial Military Court-Martial?"

Then he walked to the second four-wheeled truck and pulled open a corner of the tarpaulin. Inside was a heavy wooden box. Surdak took out the blood-red crescent and slashed the corner of the wooden box with his sword. The corner of the wooden box was directly

It was cut off, and the fine steel ruler inside was still long, and the heavy crossbow arrowhead made of fine steel dripped down with a clatter.

Captain Hans put his hand to cover his forehead, quickly ran behind Suldak, and said guiltily:

“Commander Surdak, please listen to my explanation. These supplies do not belong to the city defense brigade. These supplies..."

Captain Hans looked at Mayor Marco, his Adam's apple twitched, and his eyes were full of pleading.

Mayor Marco took two steps forward, coughed, and said: "These combat readiness supplies were originally purchased by Dodan Town for the city defense brigade. Now that Commander Suldak has taken over as the commander of the city defense brigade,

Regarding the battle preparation materials for the city defense brigade, do you also need to prepare them?"

Suldak stood next to the four-wheeled truck, stared at Mayor Marco and said:

"Mayor Marco is really good at calculating. You originally applied to Dodan Town to purchase a batch of war preparation materials, but you did not pay the payment to the trading group. Now you want to transport this batch of war preparation materials away. Could it be that you want to transport them away?"

We need to pay this batch of materials to the trading company before the beast tide approaches, so as to wipe out the previous debt, right?"

When the surrounding town residents heard what Suldak said, all their eyes were fixed on Mayor Marco.

We are not fools. If we really wanted to use materials to pay off the debts of the trading company, the mercenaries of the trading company's armed group probably would not have blocked the door of the city defense brigade and impounded these five four-wheeled trucks.

It was clear that Mayor Marco wanted to transfer the supplies out. The trading company was worried that the debt would become a dead debt, so they blocked the five four-wheeled carriages in front of the city defense brigade.

"Ahem..." Mayor Marco didn't know how to explain it for a while, standing in front of the gate with red ears.

Anthony, the head of the trading house, winked at the mercenary captain of the armed group.

"You guys get out of the carriage quickly." The mercenary captain understood and ordered the mercenaries of the armed group on the carriage.

The mercenaries who had climbed onto the carriage jumped off the carriage one after another.

Suldak had a straight face and ordered the coachmen driving the carriage: "You transport these war supplies back to the warehouse."

"We need to re-check the account list of the warehouse. Since it is war preparation materials, the Dodan Town Hall has no right to transfer them at will." Surdak first glanced at Mayor Marco, and then said to the person in charge of the trading firm: "

Anthony, I think the trading house won’t mind the payment being delayed for a few more days, right?”

“Of course, the trading house still has this patience.” Anthony, the head of the trading house, said with a smile.

Several coachmen raised their whips, turned the four-wheeled wagons around, and drove back to the city defense brigade.

Suldak then said to Mayor Marco:

"Mayor Marco, I hope there are no problems in this account details. I will submit an application to review the accounts to the Wilkes City Military Logistics Department. Now, these materials cannot be transported out of the city defense brigade..."

Several of the retinues around Mayor Marco stood up and tried to stop the four-wheeled carriage in front of him. Before the retinue running in the front could reach the front of the carriage, he was kicked away by Andrew who rushed up from below.

“Commander Surdak, what are you doing?” Mayor Marco asked Surdak.

Suldak stared at Mayor Marco and said coldly to him: "I hope you can sort out the recent accounts of the town..."

After saying that, he turned around and walked into the courtyard of the city defense brigade.

Mayor Marco's face turned pale and red, but he did not have the confidence to follow Suldak into the city defense brigade. He just snorted and angrily returned to Dodan Town with a group of retinues, not even wanting to

Take a closer look at Anthony, the head of the trading house.

Anthony, the head of the trading house, glanced around and said calmly to the mercenaries of the armed group: "Let's go!"

Most of the group of people surrounding the city defense group dispersed in an instant.

Hans was the only one standing at the door sweating profusely, watching Mayor Marco lead the people away with a grimace on his face, and could only bite the bullet and return to the yard of the city defense brigade.

 …

Nearly three hundred city guards stood in the courtyard. When they saw Suldak walking in, they quickly moved out of the way.

This group of guards wearing light armor are basically young people in Dodan Town. Most of the guards are aborigines in the town. They stare at Surdak with fear on their faces. Surdak is among these guards.

He stopped in front of him, his eyes raking across each guard's face like a knife.

Suldak stood in front of the crowd and said loudly:

"Looking at your faces, you are young and full of vitality. You shoulder the important task of guarding the town of Dodan. Your family and friends live in the town. This wall is important to Wilkes City.

It is said that it is only the first barrier to resist the beast tide, but for Duodan Town, those monsters will rush into the town after climbing over the wall. I don’t want you to be cowardly, selfish and bloodless warriors."

After saying these words, some guards raised their heads consciously, puffed out their chests, and their eyes became firm.

"Just like today... people have blocked the door and spit in your face, why don't you fight them out?" Surdak scolded: "As a city defense guard, we were attacked by a group of local armed groups.

If you block the door, I will embarrass you."

These city guards were all young people, and their faces turned red after being scolded by Suldak.

Surdak shouted: "If this happens again in the future, I hope that before I arrive...either you will repel all those mercenaries, or you will still be defeated by those mercenaries even after trying your best.

Knock them all down. If it’s the former, I will personally award you with rewards. If you are all knocked down by mercenaries, I will get your place back, instead of the cowardly look you are now!”

“Except for the personnel on duty on the city wall tonight, everyone must run around the yard for me and are not allowed to stop before dark!”

After Suldak finished speaking, the squadron captains of the city defense actually issued commands and lined up to run on the playground.

Captain Hans followed Surdak cautiously. Surdak ignored him, still holding the parchment account book in his hand, and walked directly towards the warehouse under the city wall. Five four-wheeled trucks

It is still parked at the door of the warehouse, and the goods have not been unloaded.

There are a total of ten warehouses renovated from the city wall holes under the north city wall. The doors of these warehouses are all four-meter-high iron doors, and the iron locks hanging on the outside weigh dozens of kilograms.

A fat man wearing leather armor quickly ran over from the warehouse and stood in front of Suldak, with a guilty look on his face and his eyes kept glancing at Captain Hans behind him.

Suldak asked him: "Are you the warehouse manager of the guard brigade?"

The fat man in leather armor nodded repeatedly and said, "Jeremy, the warehouse manager, has met the Commander!"

Suldak ordered: "Go and open the warehouse!"

“Oh!” Jeremy, the administrator, ran back quickly.

As the rumbling sound sounded, a man pushed open a four-meter-high iron door.

As the big iron door was pushed open by the administrator, Suldak saw the sliding rails hanging on the lintel. No wonder such a heavy iron door could be opened by him so easily.

The administrator Jeremy stood at the door of the warehouse, Suldak and Andrew walked over and looked inside...

The entire warehouse was empty, except for a mouse that slipped away along the corner.

Andrew and Suldak looked at each other, not knowing what to say for a moment. Suldak said coldly to the warehouse manager Jeremy: "Go and open all the doors of other warehouses."

Rumble...

Rumble...

As the large iron doors were pushed away, the ten warehouses were all empty.

Surdak's scalp was numb. On the city wall, he saw stacks of heavy crossbow arrow shafts in the yard of the city defense brigade, and the wooden racks beside the wall were filled with rolling stones and other supplies. He thought that the city defense brigade had too much supplies in the warehouse.

Unable to put them down, these three-meter-long heavy crossbow arrow shafts were piled in the yard.

I never expected that Mayor Marco and Captain Hans would be so courageous. When the beast tide was approaching, there was no reserve material in the warehouse, and they even transferred the last batch of supplies out of the warehouse.

"Where are the standing supplies in these warehouses?" Suldak walked into the empty warehouse, turned to Captain Hans standing at the door and asked: "Are they only the ones in the trucks?"

His voice echoed in the empty warehouse.

Captain Hans followed behind, lowered his head and said to Suldak: "Oh, even the supplies on the truck outside belong to Dodan Town. Ever since I became the captain of the city defense brigade, I have not provided any supplies to the city defense.

The guard brigade gave me a copper plate."

Suldak asked Captain Hans: "The city defense brigade has been using the tax revenue from Dodan Town to maintain daily expenses and material reserves?"

"That's more or less it. The tax revenue of Duodan Town has not been very good in recent years. The nobles in the town do not need to pay taxes to the town. The aborigines are so poor that they can't even wear pants. The largest commercial tax is the town's.

They go to a trading house, but they always trade in private, and tax evasion is the norm." Captain Hans complained to Suldak.

Seeing Suldak standing silent in the warehouse, Captain Hans added: "Mayor Marco also has his difficulties, but we still fully support your desire to take charge of the city defense brigade."

Surdak walked up to Captain Hans, patted his shoulder, and said in a gentle voice: "Before I came to the Bailin plane, I had been serving in the guard camp of Helensa City. Do you think I don't understand city defense?

What is the team’s operating system?”

Captain Hans turned his gaze aside and said: "I am just the captain of the city defense team of a small town. I don't have much experience. I only know that the garrison of the Langdon Army gave up the military power of the city defense team because of this. I

You should make your own choices."

Suldak said: "The military requires each town to withhold a certain amount of tax revenue every year to support the local defense garrison. This is done no matter which town you go to. Regardless of daily expenses or reserve materials, there is a minimum depreciation supplement every year.

Now that Dodan Town has been evading this expense for so many years, this lawsuit has been brought to the House of Representatives in Wilkes City. It is estimated that Mayor Marco’s noble baron title will not be able to protect him..."

Suldak walked out of the warehouse, looked at Captain Hans with a pity look, and said:

"You can speak so confidently in front of me. It seems that you really have no knowledge and know nothing!"

Captain Hans felt his legs were a little weak when he heard what Suldak said.

After a pause, Suldak asked him again: "Are you married?"

Captain Hans shook his head and said: "Not yet..."

Suldak smiled slightly and said:

“That’s okay, at least your child won’t be implicated in this.”

Captain Hans sat down on the ground, and suddenly there was a heat in his crotch that could not be stopped at any cost...
