23. Inside the carriage

The sky flashed with a dazzling red light in an instant. The light penetrated the window glass of the carriage and reflected on the faces of every student. Then there was a thunderous roar that could only be produced by an explosion spell.

No one made a loud noise, but a few timid lower-grade girls sobbed quietly, and beside them there were some sixth- and seventh-grade students who had obviously experienced strong winds and waves, who were comforting them softly.

The five of them, Jon and Neville, huddled together in the corner of the restaurant. The mood of the freshmen was quite stable, and Lavender, the only girl among them, did not have a very weak character.

In addition to them, Ron's two older brothers, George and Fred, and Lee Jordan, a dark-skinned boy in the same grade as them, were also beside them.

The usually bold twins not only did not appear nervous or scared about the situation at this time, but also talked about their life on the carriage.

"This is also the first time we have encountered this situation."

I don't know whether he is George or Fred's boy, and his tone is even mixed with some excitement that he is afraid that the world will not be in chaos.

"Even Percy has never experienced it. Only Bill and Charlie had several dangerous experiences of being chased by Aurors when they were in school. I heard that since Dumbledore cast a powerful spell on the carriage,

Aurors will no longer be able to determine the location of Hogwarts."

After hearing his words, Jon, who was silent on the side, had some enlightenment in his heart.

When he saw the reactions of the senior students just now, he felt a little strange. It was normal for him to be chased by Aurors like this before, but now it seems that this is not the case.

"In fact, there is no need to worry at all." The other twin said, "As long as Professor Dumbledore is in the car, our safety will definitely not be a problem, unless... that person comes here in person!

"

When Ron heard the last words he said, his face that was not nervous at first turned pale instantly, and his body shuddered subconsciously.

"Don't say such things! He, he is in a high position now, there is no way he would focus exclusively on people like us..."

Justin asked curiously, looking at Ron's sudden change of expression, and Neville and Lavender who were obviously silent.

"who's that person?"

The twins looked at each other and sneered in flattering and exaggerated tones.

"Of course it's the 'Great Sir'!"

Li Jordan looked around in panic, swallowed his saliva and said to the twins in an almost pleading voice.

"Okay, George Fred, I know you're not afraid of him, but you should be careful at least."

The twins looked disdainful.

"What does this mean? We have all heard Professor Dumbledore call him by his previous name."

"Professor Dumbledore is Professor Dumbledore, we are us."

When they were arguing about this matter, Jon suddenly said something.

"Where is Professor Slughorn?"

The people around him became quiet, and they began to look around the restaurant, but they could not find the professor.

Neville said hesitantly.

"I just heard someone report to Professor Slughorn that Filch was missing. Professor Slughorn asked the student president to stay here while he went to find Filch."

"It seems that Filch never came to the restaurant from the beginning?" Lavender asked doubtfully.

Both George and Fred had a disgusting attitude towards this carriage manager.

"He may still be planning some plan to punish students in his room. We have heard once and for all that he often suggested to Professor Dumbledore that in today's special period, Hogwarts' former corporal punishment should be restored.

system, so that students can be better disciplined.”

While they were talking, the sky had already become quiet again.

The running Yeqi led the carriage and quickly left the battlefield, but the professors had not returned yet, so the students could only stay in the restaurant.

Some students were so frightened and exhausted that they couldn't bear it anymore and fell asleep on the dining table. It was at this time that Slughorn walked in with an ugly-looking Filch.

They seemed to be talking about something when they entered the door, and the administrator didn't seem to be in a very good mood.

Slughorn knew at this time that even if he could not go back to the dormitory to sleep for the time being, he would still have to arrange for the students to rest.

He waved his magic wand and emptied all the tables and chairs in the dining hall, and then conjured dozens of sleeping bags so that the students could make do with it overnight.

The dim light swayed gently in the restaurant as the carriage bumped.

Beside Jon, Neville Ron and the others were already breathing evenly, and occasionally there were a few not-so-noisy snores not far away.

I don't know if it was because he had slept enough yesterday, but even though it was past two o'clock in the morning, Jon still didn't feel sleepy.

The position where he was lying was close to the window, and he could just look up and see the bright white moon in the night sky.

What happened tonight made the sense of crisis in his heart even heavier.

Now that they are under the protection of Dumbledore, there is no need to worry about their safety, but Dumbledore cannot always be with them, and his identity is definitely not just the principal of Hogwarts.

Besides, although I don't know what happened in the past, since the entire magical world has fallen into Voldemort's hands, it means that Dumbledore may not necessarily have any advantage over him.

While thinking about it in his mind, Jon also put his hand into his robe pocket and touched the ring that always felt cold to the touch.

But no matter what, tomorrow he has to solve the ring issue first, and then he has to find a way to improve his strength. He doesn't expect to become very strong, at least not like he is now, without the ability to even raise a wand and use a spell.

.

In this turbulent night, time passed like this bit by bit.

As a touch of fish belly white appeared in the eastern sky, the stars gradually disappeared. While the students were still sleeping, Dumbledore took Lily, McGonagall and Flitwick back to the carriage.

Except for Dumbledore, who looked a little tired on his face, there were not even a few wrinkles in his robes. Lily and McGonagall also had their hair slightly messy due to the wind. They didn't seem to be injured. Only Flitwick was being supported.

He limped into the carriage. His left leg was already stained with bright red blood, and there was a faint smell of burnt lake.

Slughorn looked at the injury on Flitwick's leg with a sad expression. He took the short professor from Lily's hand.

"I also have some white essence over there. This will be very useful for your injuries."
