I entered this industry very early. I started writing my first book in 2004. I wrote a few street-level books intermittently that didn’t make much money. I witnessed the rise of great gods and the decline of great gods. Of course, I also witnessed the decline of great gods.
This circle has changed again and again.
At one time, I didn't know the heights of the world. I always wanted to do something big and write a masterpiece that could become a god, but my strength didn't allow it. It wasn't until I fell into the street again and again that I gradually realized the reality and gradually corrected my position.
From then on, I gave up the dream of becoming a god.
Write a small story with peace of mind, and strive to impress a small group of people among hundreds of millions of readers, and earn enough money to support your family.
After correcting my position, I slowly made some insignificant achievements.
But even so, not long after this book was released, I still saw someone in the book review section criticizing my writing style, plot, etc. After criticizing me, they suggested that I go out and find a job and stop dreaming about making money by writing novels.
I was confused for a long time, wondering if I really couldn't keep up with the times? Was my writing and plot really that bad?
In recent years, the Internet literary circle has changed a lot.
It seems that all of a sudden, many new themes and writing methods have emerged. Many of the great masters and powerful authors who were once familiar with them are so excited that even my mother does not recognize them when they open new books.
It made me feel sad and worried that I would follow in their footsteps.
Because my son is only 10 months old and my daughter is only 4 years old, but I have no savings. If I fall to the bottom at this age, how will the two cubs be fed?
They are all still drinking milk powder!
I don’t want to say too much about selling out. Just like I said in one of my acceptance speeches, I am an online writer, not a beggar. I make money from my works, not out of selling.
If one day I cannot earn enough money to support my family from my works, I will automatically disappear. I said this a few years ago, and I still say the same today.
Let’s talk briefly about this new book!
In fact, not long after the last book was put on the shelves, because the first order data was much lower than the previous two books, I let out a sigh of relief and wondered if I had not kept up with the times?
Then, while reading the book twice a day, I spent a lot of time reading best-selling books on various websites.
I want to know the current popular trends and the latest popular writing styles.
For more than half a year, I have read fantasy, fairy tales, history, fan fiction, supernatural, two-dimensional and many other themes.
During this period, I got some inspiration for new books, including the one I'm currently writing.
Until the second half of last year, while continuing to write "Return to 1998", I took the time to write the beginning of this book. When I wrote more than 70,000 words, I stopped temporarily and continued to look for books to read.
Then, I got some new inspirations one after another. One of them inspired me to write the outline of thirty-six volumes.
After the beginning of this year, I wanted to finish the old book and publish a new one, but I was hesitant between the current new book and the new book with an outline of thirty-six volumes.
One has an initial manuscript of more than 70,000 words, and the other has a 36-volume outline.
Which one to choose to publish?
In other words, the themes of these two new books are actually quite adventurous, because I want to step out of my comfort zone and explore new themes and new writing methods.
Therefore, the two new book ideas this time are both bold and difficult to write.
Especially the book you are reading now is suspected of having two male protagonists. It has to write two stories from different time and space, and it is also necessary to connect the two stories from different time and space. In addition, the golden finger of this new book is very good.
It's too big, it's a fantasy article.
As for imagination writing, it is notoriously easy to break down, and it breaks down quickly, making it difficult to write long.
So, at the beginning, I came up with an idea to combine the ideas of these two new books, create an imaginary background of the story, and let the story take place in the world of Nanzhan Buzhou.
Once the background of the world changes, there will be more to write in this story. If you want to make it longer, it is not difficult.
but……
People don't seem to like me writing plots outside the city. As soon as the mythological elements appeared, they were criticized by everyone. I had no choice but to make a living, so I changed the story background of this book and eliminated the mythical elements.
To be honest, this book was difficult to write.
It’s easy to feel thankless.
Why do you say that?
For example, in terms of the character of the male protagonist, as a veteran, I certainly know that the image of a young and frivolous male protagonist is not pleasing, but there is a question before me - what if the personalities of 17-year-old Chen Yu and 37-year-old Chen Yu are different?
If there are no shortcomings in all aspects, why was the 37-year-old Chen Yu so depressed when he appeared on the stage? Does it make sense logically?
Also, if the Chen Yus of these two time and space have no ambitions and do things flawlessly, then what reason do they have for actively seeking changes in time and space?
Therefore, at least one of them must be dissatisfied and dissatisfied with the life in front of them.
Only in this way can the charm of time and space changes and butterfly effect be fully demonstrated.
In addition to the fact that the plot requires Chen Yu from these two time and space to have flaws in his character, there is another reason why I set up the character this way.
——That is, the golden finger of this book has been opened so wide. If the protagonist's character is still calm and wise, how long can this story be written? After several time and space changes, the protagonist can go to heaven, right?
Why do brainstorming articles collapse easily? And they collapse quickly?
I think this should be a very important reason. The protagonist is too smart and the golden finger is too wide. If you just use the golden finger a few times, the protagonist's life will be complete. What else can you pursue?
In fact, readers who know my personality should know that creating a young and frivolous protagonist is actually the most difficult thing for me, because I am not that type of character at all.
Of course, I also have to review myself here.
——The reason why I set the character of the protagonist this way is to add some funny elements to the book.
Just think about it: for a male protagonist who never makes mistakes and has a deep personality, how likely is it to make a joke in his life?
Finally, I would like to apologize to those readers who cannot understand this book. In fact, when I decided to write this book, I expected that some readers might not understand such a work.
After all, if you want to understand the plot of changing time and space, you really need some imagination.
I often see book reviews that don’t even hit the mark. Every time I see a book review like that, I can’t get angry, because I know that no one intentionally doesn’t understand it. People who don’t understand think that I can’t write well.
It's a mess, I can understand it, and I'm trying to write it as plainly and understandably as possible.
