Chapter 1148 Du Shi

The Jingzhao Du family can be traced back to Du Zhou, the imperial censor of the Early Han Dynasty.

Du Zhou was originally a minor official in the Nanyang Prefecture of the former Han Dynasty. He treated his superiors well, and was recommended to Zhang Tang and promoted to the rank of Wei Shi.

Later, he fell into the favor of Emperor Xiaowu and enforced the law strictly, and finally he was promoted to the imperial censor.

During the reign of Emperor Xiaowu, the Lingcheng system was implemented, and the wealthy families from Guandong were moved to Guanzhong, so Du Zhou also moved to Maoling.

Later, his son Du Yannian moved to Duling and finally settled down.

The Du family in the early Han Dynasty was at its peak.

Du Yannian, the son of Du Zhou, is one of the eleven heroes of Qilin Pavilion.

And Du Yannian's son, Du Suan, rose to the rank of Taichang.

By the end of the Han Dynasty, there were nearly ten people in Du family's officialdom up to 2,000 shi.

However, in the Later Han Dynasty, the Du family became somewhat declining and was far less noble than in the Early Han Dynasty.

Of course, it may also be affected by the rise and fall of political power in Kanto and Kansai.

There are only two calligraphers and scholars who are famous all over the world.

Du Yuankai, who was good friends with Pei Xiu, was named Yu, and his father was Du Shu, the former governor of Hedong in the Wei Kingdom.

Although Du Shu came from a Guanzhong family, he had many disagreements with the powerful officials of the Wei Dynasty.

In particular, there was a lot of conflict with Sima Yi.

Coupled with the struggle between the two major political groups, Kansai and Kanto.

A few years ago, Du Shu was forced by Sima Yi's power to claim illness and live in seclusion for several years.

At that time, Sima Yi happened to be the commander-in-chief of Guanzhong as the Great Sima.

However, in order to win over the aristocratic families in Guanzhong and then protect Guanzhong, Cao Rui invited Du Shu out and made him the governor of Hedong.

Who would have expected that within a year, Hedong would change its owner.

During the Battle of Guanzhong, Sima Yi deliberately delayed time and refused to send troops to rescue Hedong.

In addition to being uncontrollable, it may not be without the factor that Du Shu is the governor of Hedong.

Under this situation, Du Yumo said that he was like Yang Hu, who could do whatever he wanted and refused recommendations many times, but like Pei Xiu, who wanted to become famous at a young age but couldn't do it.

Moreover, Du Yu's eldest son, Du Shu, has always been "sincere with quality and never with false pretenses" and has never liked publicizing his reputation since he was a child.

Therefore, Du Yu's own family knew about his family affairs. In his opinion, it was almost impossible for adults to come forward and ask someone to recommend him to the academy.

"But I really want to study in the academy!"

The eighteen-year-old young man, Lang Jun, turned around and walked home after separation from Pei Xiu. He looked back at the Royal Academy with some reluctance.

The buildings there are majestic, storing countless secret knowledge, and there are also many Confucian scholars who are proficient in knowledge.

For Du Yu, who had read a lot of books since he was a child, especially for Du Yu, who was extremely obsessed with "Zuo Shi Chun Qiu Zhuan", this was like a charm.

Every college holiday, he would wait for Pei Xiu here.

I just want to get close to this college and smell the fragrance of ink in this college.

At the same time, I borrowed Pei Xiu's help to pass on my doubts about "Zuo Shi Chun Qiu Biography" to the professors in the college and ask them indirectly for advice.

The eighteen-year-old young man is just at the stage of accumulating knowledge and is far from being famous in future generations.

Lai Min and others in the academy who are proficient in "Zuo's Spring and Autumn Annals" have lived for more than seventy years and have studied "Zuo's Spring and Autumn Annals" all their lives.

How can Du Yu’s knowledge be compared with this?

Every time Pei Xiu relayed knowledge from his mouth, Du Yu felt as if nectar had entered his heart, and he felt enlightened.

This feeling, in turn, made Du Yu's desire to study in the academy grow stronger.

As a famous family in Jingzhao, the Du family has no shortage of places to live in Chang'an City.

In the Battle of Guanzhong three years ago, although Chang'an was not burned, it was eventually looted by Wei thieves.

Except for Zhangtai Street, where the rich and powerful gather, most of the houses in other places look a little dilapidated.

But among these dilapidated houses, there are also several complete houses that appear low-key but actually hide observation towers.

To be able to live in this kind of house is basically not a simple family.

Du Shi is one of them.

Du Yu returned home and lingered at the door of the adult's study for a long time.

Finally, I mustered up the courage, pushed the door open, and expressed my thoughts:

"Sir, I want to go to college to study!"

Du Shu, who was reading, raised his head and looked at his son quietly, with a dull look in his eyes.

His beard is well maintained, the hand holding the book is very slender, and his demeanor is somewhat elegant.

Although he is already past the age of forty, he may be cultivating his energy properly and looks like he is only in his thirties.

Of course, it may also be due to the rich heritage of the Du family that he has experienced too many ups and downs.

In the past few decades, the world has been in ruins and wars have continued.

The establishment of the Wei Dynasty represented that the family finally defeated their relatives and eunuchs and achieved final victory.

While the aristocratic family was enjoying their own spoils, Du Shu, a son of the aristocratic family, calmly adhered to a certain belief.

Although this belief seems a bit pedantic and ridiculous to many aristocratic families, or even useless.

But it was precisely because of Du Shu's persistence that he seemed a bit strange in the Wei Dynasty.

Not only did he not get along with the powerful people in the court, he even offended a representative of the family like Sima Yi.

How can Du Yu compare with Du Shu at this time?

After he said this, he seemed to have exhausted all the courage he had finally mustered.

Facing the adults' calm gaze, Du Yu seemed to lower his head in shame:

"I'm sorry, sir, I, my child, was a little rash..."

Seeing his son's appearance, Du Shu's calm face revealed a faint smile.

His tone was very gentle:

"Learning is the foundation for my life, Mrs. Du. If you are determined to seek knowledge, this is something worthy of happiness. How can you be rash?"

When Du was in the Later Han Dynasty, he was indeed not as noble as in the Early Han Dynasty.

However, in compliance with the general trend of Confucianism in the later Han Dynasty, two world-famous calligraphers and scholars were produced.

Du Yu, who was already prepared to be scolded, immediately raised his head when he heard his master say this, with some disbelief in his eyes:

"My lord, you don't blame me... No, my lord, you agree?"

"You have the ambition to study and make progress. I'm not happy enough, so how can I disagree?"

Although Du Shu's tone was plain, there was gentleness in it:

"But the Royal Academy in Chang'an is like the Imperial Academy in ancient times. What ambitions will my son have if he wants to study in the academy?"

Studying is not simply seeking knowledge.

Rather, you need to understand yourself why you want to seek knowledge.

In other words, what do you want to do after acquiring knowledge?

This way you won't get lost halfway through your studies.

If you are just doing it out of curiosity or to show off to others, then it is better to stay quietly at home.

Because for Du Shu, these extremely superficial thoughts are not worth his waste of favors.

Du Yu opened his mouth when he heard his master's words, but was speechless for a moment.

Yes, after he enters the academy and learns the knowledge he wants, what does he plan to do with that knowledge?

Seeing his son's dull look, Du Shu waited patiently for a while, but did not hear his son's answer.

There was a slight hint of disappointment on his always calm face, and he shook his head invisibly, lowered his head, and prepared to pick up the book on the desk again.

Du Yu's heart sank when he saw that his master no longer wanted to talk to him.

He knew that if he missed this opportunity, he might never have the chance to enter the academy again in his life.

At this moment, the four lines of words engraved on the screen wall of the gate of the Royal Academy appeared in his mind.

In a hurry, he suddenly blurted out: "In order to achieve meritorious service, you also have to make a speech!"

"Um?"

Du Shu suddenly raised his head and looked at his son with burning eyes.

Establish a mind for the heaven and earth, establish a destiny for the living people, carry forward the unique teachings for the saints, and create peace for all generations.

When he thought of these four sentences, the young man's blood seemed to boil:

"The child is dull, and his knowledge and virtue are beyond the reach of human beings, but the child is arrogant and wants to try to make meritorious deeds and speak up."

The most important thing is to establish virtue, the second is to perform meritorious service, and the third is to establish words. Even if it lasts for a long time, this is called immortality.

Looking at the world today, if anyone is worthy of being named Li De, Feng Duhu might be the only one who can barely qualify.

Because he taught the world how to make wool from wool, although not all of them are now open.

But it is precisely because he has not let everything go that he is just barely qualified to be nominated.

Wool is made into wool, which gives people all over the world an extra piece of clothing to keep warm, which can be said to be a virtue.

As for meritorious service, although it is not easy, it is easier than establishing virtue.

Let’s take Feng Duhu as an example.

Governing Liangzhou, eliminating the root causes of the centuries-old Qiang and Hu rebellions in Liangzhou, and ensuring the peace of the people can be regarded as meritorious service.

Of course, there may be some debate as to whether ensuring the peace of the people in one area can be considered a meritorious service.

But if Ji Han can unify the world in the future and prevent the people of the world from suffering from war, then Feng Duhu's "meritorious service" will be considered indisputable.

Li Yan is the easiest to achieve among the "Three Immortals".

Well, let’s take Feng Duhu as an example.

Not to mention those articles that are sung all over the world, just these four sentences engraved in the Royal Academy, Du Yu believes that Feng Duhu will definitely make a mark in the history of history.

so……

After thinking about this, Du Yu finally plucked up the courage again.

This time, although he was not so loud, his voice was full of determination:

"Sir, I think that when a man stands between heaven and earth, he should imitate Feng Duhu, so that he can live up to the name of a man!"

I heard that Feng Duhu was only sixteen or seventeen years old when he first came out of Shu. In just ten years, he was able to accomplish such an earth-shattering undertaking.

Now that I am eighteen, I am still unknown. Isn’t it a shame?

It seemed that he was telling his deepest secret, which made Du Yu feel a little ashamed and his face turned red.

When Du Shu saw this, he suddenly smiled:

"I never imagined that my son would have such ambitions."

He finally stood up and walked to Du Yu:

"I feel so relieved."

Du Yu's eyes widened and he actually stuttered: "Sir, sir?"

Du Shu patted him on the shoulder, looked outside the room, and said in a slightly low voice:

"Although I am determined to revive the Du family, my talent is far inferior to that of your grandfather. If it were not for the inheritance left by your grandfather, the Du family would probably have declined again."

Although the Du family is a prominent family in Jingzhao, it has been on a decline since the late Han Dynasty.

Especially during the reign of Emperor Huan, the family was almost on the verge of being compared to the rich people in the countryside.

Fortunately, Du Shu's lord, Du Yu's grandfather Du Ji, was recommended to Cao Cao by Xun Yu. With his own ability, he was eventually granted the title of Marquis of Ting, and was promoted to the rank of Shangshu Pushe.

After his death, he was posthumously given the title of Imperial Servant by Cao Pi, and his posthumous title was Dai Hou, which shows how highly he was valued.

It is a pity that by Du Shu's generation, the Wei State was no longer the Wei State at the time of Cao Cao.

Du Ji could rely on his talents to become famous during his lifetime and mourned after his death.

But Du Shu was ostracized and suppressed, and even had to claim illness and live in seclusion.

"I originally thought that as long as Sima Zhongda was alive, not only me, but also my son, and even the entire Du family would not be able to get ahead."

Unless he, the head of the Du family, takes the initiative to bow his head to Sima Yi and keep himself humble.

But for the strong and straightforward Du Shu, if he really wanted to do this, it would be better to kill him directly.

Thinking of this, Du Shu showed a smile on his face:

"Fortunately, fortunately, there is hope for the Han Dynasty to prosper!"

Du Yu looked at the adults with some confusion.

Du Shu turned to look at his son again, his face serious:

"My son, please think carefully. If you really want to enter the academy, it means that I, the Jingzhao Du clan, will fully support the Han Dynasty. From now on, there will be no way out."

Other families all bet on the three families of Han, Wei and Wu at the same time, or at least the two families of Han and Wei.

But Du Shi is different.

The Du family had just re-emerged in the Wei State and was suppressed.

It's okay to say that it still has some foundation.

However, he did not get along with the dignitaries of the Wei State and offended Sima Yi. If he surrendered to Ji Han again at this time, it would be considered as renunciation of the Wei State.

If Ji Han could really unify the world, that would be easy to say.

But if one day, the Wei Kingdom makes a comeback and Ji Han is defeated, then the name Jingzhao Du Family may disappear from the world.

"Moreover, if you just utter arrogant words and cannot make any contributions in Jihan in the future, the Du family will never be able to rise again..."

Du Yu met his master's gaze and suddenly felt a heavy weight on his shoulders, and his breathing became a little heavy.

Just seeing the earnestness in the adults' eyes, Du Yu puffed up his chest:

"My lord, as a child, there is no one with the sharpest military edge in the world like the soldiers of the Han Dynasty. There is no one in the world who loves his people like a son, no one is more powerful than the Emperor of the Han Dynasty."

"Since you don't want to join forces with the dignitaries in the Wei Dynasty and the Guandong family, you might as well support the Han Dynasty."

"In this way, I can not only express my ambition, but also revive my Du family."

Hearing Du Yu's words, Du Shu showed a smile on his face and said with emotion: "My son has finally grown up!"

After he said this, he turned around and walked to the desk, picked up a post and handed it to Du Yu: "Take it."

"Sir, what is this?"

"Invitation from the Ma family."

"Ma family?" Du Yu was stunned for a moment, then slightly startled, "Could it be..."

As if anticipating what he was going to say, Du Shu nodded:

"That's right, it's the Ma family in Fufeng."

Since the Han Dynasty recaptured Chang'an, the Ma family, which had disappeared in the early years, seems to have regained momentum.

I heard that even the Pei family from Hedong came to Chang'an to find a way out, and they went through the Ma family.

It can be seen that the momentum is strong.

"Sir, how come there is an invitation from the Ma family?"

"It's not just me. I heard that Webster also received an invitation from the Ma family."

Du Shu smiled calmly, "When it comes to the trust the imperial court has in all families in Guanzhong, no one has more trust than the Ma family."

"The imperial court has begun to win over sergeants and officials. If you really want to enter the Royal Academy, now is the best opportunity."

"If not, I'm afraid it will be difficult to have such a good opportunity again in the future."
