Chapter 345: Making Artillery

Saltpeter, charcoal and sulfur are very common materials that are used in magic experiments. Tina has a lot of them in stock.

After listening to Chris's narrative, Tina went to the laboratory on the top floor of the castle to start research.

And Chris was not idle either. He drew a sketch of the cannon barrel based on the pictures he saw on TV in his previous life.

Then, he found the intermediate blacksmith Tangier with the blueprint.

Daniel asked: "Lord City Lord, what are your orders?"

Chris handed over the drawing and explained: "Master, I need you to build this thing as soon as possible. It is an iron pipe about one and a half meters long, with the end completely sealed and a small opening at the top."

"It generates extremely strong recoil, so a retainer is welded underneath."

"In addition, I want you to make round iron balls that can be stuffed into the tube. It is best to fit them tightly. There is no limit to the number."

Daniel stared at the drawings and thought for a while and then said: "Okay, I will try to help you build it within two days."

With his ability, it is not difficult to forge this thing, but Chris did not provide accurate parameters, so he still needs to explore it himself.

After the artillery research was successful, Chris decided to make hundreds of them.

There are a lot of mineral resources in Thorn Ridge, so the iron ore in Dawn City is definitely enough.

······

Two days later.

Tina grabbed a handful of dark gray powder and came to Chris and said, "Have a look and see if this is what you need."

Chris asked her to put the gray powder on the floor and pop up a small flame with her index finger.

"Wow!"

A dazzling white light flashed, and the puddle of powder was immediately burned into black dregs, and wisps of blue smoke rose up.

Chris said in surprise: "Yes, that's it. How many can you make?"

Tina smiled sweetly: "I have conducted hundreds of experiments in the past two days and finally found the right ratio. This is what I have made so far, but if you want, you can have as much as you want."

"Thank you for your hard work. Please make a few tons first and bring them to the west side of the castle. I will wait for you there."

"Okay, wait for me for an hour." After saying that, Tina ran back to the laboratory on the roof.

Chris walked out of the castle and came to the blacksmith shop to find Daniel: "Master, has what I want been built?"

"In that forge room." Daniel said, pointing to a certain room.

Chris couldn't wait to push the door open and saw a huge black lump.

The barrel is about one and a half meters long, about fifteen centimeters in diameter, and has a small opening as big as a soybean at the top.

There was a rectangular iron plate connected to the bottom. According to Daniel's idea, it was probably going to be held down with rocks.

The diameter of the muzzle is about ten centimeters, and hundreds of black iron balls as big as fists are scattered on the ground.

Chris was very satisfied with this. It completely met the standards of artillery in his mind. He admired Master Daniel's forging ability very much.

Because of the existence of the space ring, there is no need to worry that such a large thing will be blocked by the narrow door of the forging room.

Chris put away the cannon and returned to the castle.

After waiting for a short while, Tina came down from upstairs.

"Let's go, let you see the power of the cannon." Chris took Tina's hand and came to an open area outside.

Taking out the artillery, Chris moved a few boulders to press the iron plate under the barrel.

Then, he motioned to Tina to take out the gunpowder.

Chris first rolled up some gunpowder from hay on the ground nearby to make several fuses, and inserted one from the small opening of the barrel.

Then he put a small amount of gunpowder from the muzzle, about five or six pounds.

Finally, Chris stuffed the iron meatball into it.

"Cover your ears, the sound may be a bit loud."

After seeing Tina do it, Chris lit the fuse with a flame.

When the fuse burned out, there was a loud "boom" and the fire at the muzzle flickered.

A pitch-black ball flew out at an extremely fast speed, drawing a beautiful parabola in the air, and then fell to the ground, creating a deep pit.

"It's done!" Chris was overjoyed. He didn't expect that the first test shot would be so perfect.

He trotted over and picked up the projectile. The temperature on it was very high and very hot to the touch.

Because the shot does not go very far and the projectile is not damaged, it can be recycled.

Tina curled her lips and said, "It doesn't seem to be very powerful."

Chris explained: "I was worried that it would hurt the flowers and plants in the city, so I didn't put too much gunpowder. I will take you outside the city in a while to let you have a good feel."

The principle of artillery is to use the impact force generated by the instant combustion of gunpowder to launch projectiles, similar to fireworks.

With Chris's knowledge base, he couldn't create a real cannonball, but the power was pretty good.

He is not as awesome as other time travellers. He can even make nuclear weapons in a backward alien world.

Next, Chris tried firing five or six times in a row, like a child playing with a new toy.

Tina looked at the bright smile on his face and smiled unconsciously.

After having enough fun, Chris turned around, picked up Tina, and spun her around several times: "Tina, you are simply amazing."

"You, please put me down quickly." Tina's cheeks turned red with embarrassment.

Chris let go of his hand and let her feet return to the ground. Looking at Tina's shy look, he couldn't help but kiss her pretty face: "Thank you."

"Ahem, sir..." Jonathan's inappropriate voice came from behind.

Tina's face was on fire, her head hung down, and she didn't dare to look at anyone.

Chris turned around, rolled his eyes and said, "What?"

Jonathan asked: "What happened just now? There was such a big movement."

"Nothing, you just happened to be here. Immediately notify all the stewards in the city, as well as the nobles and businessmen, and ask them to go to Mote City within three hours. I have something to show them."

"Yes!" Jonathan took the order and left.

Chris decided to demonstrate the artillery to his men. Since he had decided to establish a country, he naturally had to show his due strength and give them sufficient confidence.

Mote City is currently uninhabited, so it is the best target.

After all, the quality of its city walls is exactly the same as that of other cities in the Eagle Kingdom, allowing noble merchants to more intuitively feel the power of artillery.

······

Dawn City has been relatively stable these days. After Chris announced that he would establish a new country, he did not give any instructions to the noble merchants, so everything is still the same as before.

Although on the surface they did not dare to say anything due to Chris's intimidation, secretly they had no hope for Jianguo. Some smart guys began to think about a safe way to escape without angering Chris.

Under such circumstances, leave Dawn City safely.
