Chapter 7 The Ugly Duckling

The windows of the Sequoia were covered with dark explosion-proof film, making it impossible to see inside. Liu Handong walked around to the front of the car and saw a burly man in a suit sitting in the driver's seat. He wore bald sunglasses and had transparent air earphones behind his ears.

There is also a cyan shield logo on the collar of the suit.

With this pomp and momentum, who else but the security department of Qingshi Hi-Tech could be there.

Liu Handong became excited. He knew that good luck had come. He hurriedly entered the yard and went up to the fourth floor. He found that the door was open and when he was about to walk in, the people inside heard footsteps and came out first.

It was indeed Shu Fan who was back, but Liu Handong almost didn't recognize him.

We haven’t seen each other in the past two years. Shu Fan has grown from a fourteen-year-old girl to a sixteen-year-old cardamom girl. She is taller, her skin has turned a healthy wheat color, she wears a pair of glasses on her face, and there is a faint hint of metal in her mouth.

Shine shines.

Liu Handong smiled: "Girl has grown up."

Shu Fan's eyes were red, and he smiled, revealing a mouth full of wire braces, and then bit his lips tightly to prevent himself from crying.

Because he has changed, but his eldest brother has not changed. His hair is short, his clothes are dirty, torn, and stained with blood. He looks like he just came back from a fight. Time has passed, and he has lived abroad for two years.

I have traveled to the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone Park, Route 66, Miami Beach, and the Empire State Building in New York, but I can never forget this simple four-story house on Iron Slag Street.

"How did you open the door?" Liu Handong asked.

"I have the key." Shu Fan pulled out a thin platinum necklace from his neck. There was an iron key with a three-ring padlock tied to the chain. It was the key that the charterer had given them. Unexpectedly, Shu Fan

It still remains.

Facing the girl who had already raised half her head, Liu Handong felt strange and didn't know what to say. Shu Fan didn't say anything, and felt a little embarrassed for a moment. At this time, a man came in from the outside, wearing a green shirt, black skirt and black silk stockings.

It’s She Xiaoqing, assistant to the President Office of Qingshi Hi-Tech.

"We're here, great. Let's go eat together. The restaurant has been booked." She Xiaoqing smiled at Liu Handong as a greeting and hurried downstairs.

"I don't like her, Aunt An is a bitch." Shu Fan whispered, "An Xin sent her to monitor us."

Liu Handong thought to himself that it was only right to monitor you. Why do you mean monitoring "us"? He said, "I'll change my clothes."

Shu Fan said: "You can change it, I won't peek."

Liu Handong chuckled. This girl was much more cheerful and lively than before. Good thing. He changed into a clean shirt and went downstairs with Shu Fan. The little girl insisted on holding his arm, and she tried to avoid it twice.

He had no choice but to let Shu Fan go downstairs on his arm and leave the courtyard in full view of the neighbors.

She Xiaoqing opened the door of the Audi S8, Shu Fan got in, pointed to the driver's seat and said: "Brother, you drive it."

Liu Handong was happy, got into the driver's seat and fastened his seat belt.

She Xiaoqing was a little unhappy and sat on the passenger seat.

The Sequoia opened the way in front, and the Audi S8 followed behind, slowly exiting Tiezha Street.

"Where to eat?" Liu Handong asked.

"We have reserved a seat at Maxim Western Restaurant," She Xiaoqing said.

Shu Fan said: "I don't like Western food, I want to eat beef noodles."

She Xiaoqing asked curiously: "What kind of beef noodles, which restaurant?"

"It was a shed built on a construction site in the city center." Shu Fan explained that it was probably the most impressive meal for her, even though it was with a group of migrant workers.

She Xiaoqing's face was full of intolerance: "Xiaofan, you can't treat guests at a stall on the construction site. It's unhygienic and shows no sincerity."

Shu Fan said tit for tat: "I like it. That place means something to me. You don't understand."

"I'll tell Mr. An." She Xiaoqing picked up the phone.

"You can snitch on me if you want." Shu Fan didn't care.

She Xiaoqing called An Xin to report it, and after some talk she finally compromised: "Okay, let's go eat some beef noodles."

An hour later, the two cars arrived at the beef noodles stall on the city's subway construction site. In the past two years, there has been a lot of construction work in Omi. The subway project is the most massive. It has not been completed after two years of construction. The beef noodles stall is still there.

A few migrant workers were sitting under the shed, with empty bowls in front of them, and a small nine-inch color TV set on the cupboard, which was playing a useless variety show. Everyone was watching it enthusiastically.

Two luxury cars parked next to the stall, and four sturdy men got out of the redwood trees. Only then did Liu Handong see clearly that except for the driver, who was Chinese, the other three bodyguards were all foreigners, one old and one young.

There are white people and one black person, nearly two meters tall and a strong elephant-headed bear.

Shu Fan introduced him that the older one was Joe, a former White House Secret Service agent who had protected Clinton and George W. Bush, and is now retired. The younger one was Mike, a retired Marine Corps sergeant who had been a patrolman in Boston. He was black.

His name is Tango, he is a boxer and he once won the Miami boxing heavyweight gold belt.

These three bodyguards were hired by Xia Qinghua at a high price to protect their daughter. They are responsible for Shu Fan's safety in the United States. However, American bodyguards may not be easy to use in China. They do not understand the language and the environment is different. Just because the contract has not expired.

So I followed Shu Fan to China.

As for the person driving the car, it was Lao Li from the Security Department of Qingshi High-tech and a former captain and company commander of the special forces of the People's Liberation Army of China.

Liu Handong shook hands with the four bodyguards one by one and greeted them in simple English.

She Xiaoqing walked into the shed and asked the boss to clean up the two tables, which must be wiped clean, and then six servings of ban mian would be served. The bowls must be washed, the noodles must be cooked, and the tableware must be disinfected. The boss was confused. He had never been in such a small place like this.

The high-end and classy VIPs, including three foreigners, were busy clearing the table, washing dishes and chopsticks again, and rinsing the meat-cutting board again.

The guests sat down, but the migrant workers did not leave. Instead, they struck up a conversation with Tango, the black man, and asked him if he was an American basketball player. Liu Handong's English had become rusty after not using it for many years, but little girl Shu Fan's English was extremely fluent, and she acted as a translator to help the two parties communicate.

Sometimes she speaks English, sometimes Mandarin, and a few Omi dialects mixed in. I can’t believe that she was still suffering from a language disorder when I first met her.

It didn't take a lot of time to put it on the table, which was a clay pot the size of a small basin, lasagna the thickness of a leek leaf, with braised eggs and two green vegetables on top, topped with onions, ginger, garlic, Sichuan peppercorns, cinnamon, star anise, and fennel.

The stew made of cumin, pasta sauce, chili, and butter, with an extra 20 yuan of diced beef added to each pot, smells delicious and looks appetizing.

Lao Li took a box of Coke from the trunk of Sequoia. Neither the bodyguard nor the driver could drink. Shu Fan was underage, and Liu Handong had to drive. She Xiaoqing didn't drink, so everyone had to eat with Coke, and they were sweating profusely. Foreigners didn't

He knows how to use chopsticks, and Lao Li has Western-style tableware in his car. Only veteran agent Qiao can use chopsticks. It is said that he learned how to use chopsticks when he accompanied President Clinton on his visit to China.

While eating noodles, Shu Fan talked about Liu Handong's glorious deeds, Lao Li smiled and said nothing, and the foreigner looked surprised. She Xiaoqing did not eat noodles, but took a bottle of Coke and rolled it around in his hand, curling his lips in disdain.

After dinner, Tango proposed to arm-wrestle with Liu Handong to test his strength. Liu Handong readily agreed, but seeing as the black man's arms were as thick as buckets, he was afraid he wouldn't be able to defeat him.

"Brother, if you compare with him, you are not afraid of him." Shu Fan fanned the flames, fearing that the world would not be in chaos.

After clearing a space, Liu Handong and Tango held their right hands together and tested each other. As the referee, Lao Li gave an order, and the muscles on the two arms tightened instantly and they began to wrestle.

The black man's explosive power was very strong. Liu Handong felt a continuous wave of power coming from him. His arms gradually became unable to bear the strength. Seeing that his fist was about to be pressed by Tango on the table, Shu Fan suddenly rushed over and grabbed Liu Handong's arms with both hands.

Pulling his hand back, the little girl's little strength was of no avail, but it had an unexpected effect. Liu Handong regained the lost ground centimeter by centimeter, and gradually evened the situation again.

There was a layer of sweat on Tango's forehead. He didn't want to give in and sell his employer's favor, but the opponent's strength should not be underestimated, and his stamina was endless. Maybe this was the "internal strength" of the Chinese. When he felt weak, his strength would be the same.

When he failed, he was knocked down by Liu Handong.

"Hey! I won!" Shu Fan jumped up, the wire braces in his mouth shining brightly.

Tango shrugged, shook hands with Liu Handong, and gave him a thumbs up to praise him for his awesomeness.

Liu Handong saw this gangster acting as if nothing had happened, but half of his arms were numb. He probably needed to apply some safflower oil when he went back.

After dinner, it was time to leave. Mike said that this kind of big bowl for eating noodles was very artistic. He asked She Xiaoqing to discuss with the boss and buy one as a handicraft. The boss heard that foreign friends liked his rice bowl and offered it as a free gift without any money.

, but I wanted to ask a basketball star to take a photo with me, so everyone took what they wanted and everyone was happy.

It was still early, so Shu Fan said to find a place to sit. She Xiaoqing immediately looked wary, fearing that the girl would get mad again and go to some weird place. What made her relieved was that Shu Fan chose

An ordinary cafe on the edge of the Huaijiang River.

The bodyguards did not follow him in to drink coffee together, only She Xiaoqing accompanied him. Shu Fan talked a lot about things in the United States, and every sentence ended with "It's a pity that you are not here."

"How long will you stay here this time?" Liu Handong asked her.

"I'm not leaving. I'm studying at the High School Affiliated to Jiangda University." Shu Fan said.

"Oh, the High School Affiliated to Jiangnan University is a key middle school in the province, so it's difficult to get in." Liu Handong said.

She Xiaoqing sneered and interjected: "It's only a matter of words from our Mr. An."

Both of them ignored her, and Shu Fan said, "Brother, how are you and the sister who drives the bus?"

Liu Handong was stunned. This girl actually remembered Ma Ling and could think of things like falling in love. She was really a brat.

"It's good. We're dating, but we just don't have the money to buy a house and get married."

"House, my family has an empty house. I'll lend it to you first. Then you decide on a suitable location and I'll ask dad to buy the land and build a villa for you."

Liu Handong was stunned for a moment after hearing this. He bought the land directly to build a villa, or it was used to give favors. How much financial resources this requires.

Before he could finish digesting this sentence, Shu Fan said again: "Brother, you still ride a motorcycle. It will be inconvenient if it rains or snows. What do you think of that S8? Do you like it?"
