Chapter 1613

In Buddhism, except for some extremely high-status true Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, no one else knows about it, let alone other immortals and gods.

How did this Buddhist scripture get into the hands of the Emperor of Tang Dynasty?

Tathagata Buddha asked with a solemn expression:

"Venerable Guanyin, do you really not know the origin of this Mahayana Buddhist sutra?"

"I searched in many ways not long ago, but found nothing.

The Way of Guanyin Bodhisattva.

The Tathagata suddenly fell silent, and even Guanyin Bodhisattva could not detect it. This means that the person who preached this Mahayana Buddhist sutra was at least a person of great power level.

If this happens, things will get into trouble.

Because he didn't know what the people behind this were planning.

Guanyin Bodhisattva continued:

"The Emperor of the Tang Dynasty suddenly announced that he would convene a Buddhist conference. The main purpose was to study the Mahayana Buddhist scriptures.

How to study Mahayana Buddhist scriptures?

Tathagata Buddha frowned, and soon thought about the key, and his expression suddenly became serious.

The king of Tang suddenly wanted to hold a Buddhist conference. Obviously, it was not for the purpose of promoting Buddhism.

Rather, they want to maliciously misinterpret this Mahayana Buddhist scripture and pour dirty water on Buddhism.

This Mahayana Buddhist sutra was the key to Buddhism's mission to the southern continents during its journey to the west.

In order to start the journey to the West, Buddhism made many arrangements and even sent Guanyin Bodhisattva to preach the Mahayana Buddhist scriptures.

This Mahayana Buddhist sutra is directly described as a good medicine to save the world.

It seems that as long as the Mahayana Buddhist scriptures are retrieved and spread to the world, the living beings in Nanzhanbuzhou will be free from disease and disaster, and will not fall into reincarnation.

The Emperor of the Tang Dynasty believed this rhetoric, so he agreed to start the journey to the West.

Now that Mahayana Buddhist scriptures have been obtained, if it really has this effect, then of course it will be nothing.

But Tathagata knows that all of this is false, and that all the miraculous effects are the result of Buddhism's own bragging.

Of course, this Mahayana Buddhist sutra is not without merit.

But in the final analysis, it is neither a set of methods for cultivating immortality nor a panacea, but a tool for gathering believers.

At the Dharma Conference, the Tang king did not even need to make any malicious misinterpretations of the Mahayana Buddhist scriptures, he only needed to translate them completely.

People present will naturally understand.

It turns out that Buddhism is deceiving people from the beginning to the end. The so-called true Buddha actually has this kind of virtue.

After a lot of hard work and many plans, even the emperor tricked it. It took more than ten years to get back this thing.

If the lie is exposed, Buddhism's reputation will surely plummet.

At that time, if the Emperor of Tang Dynasty wants to destroy Buddha, who will say a word about it?

Thinking of this, Tathagata could no longer calm down and said quickly.

"Venerable Avalokitesvara, you go to the Tang Dynasty quickly. No matter what method you use, you must stop the Emperor of the Tang Dynasty.

Guanyin Bodhisattva quickly shook his head and said:

"Buddha, I'm afraid there's something wrong with me going this time."

What a joke, she went all the way back and forth just to get out of this matter, how could she get herself into it again?

"Why?" Tathagata was stunned for a moment.

"When the journey to the West was originally planned, I went to the Tang Dynasty and came forward to facilitate it. Now the King of Tang has known some of the inside stories about the journey to the West, so he hates me deeply. If I come forward again this time, it may make things self-defeating."

Guanyin Bodhisattva explained.

It does make sense. Tathagata nodded, no longer forcing it, and glanced below:

"Venerable Manjusri, I'd like you to take a trip this time.

As soon as he finished speaking, Manjusri Bodhisattva, who had won the lottery, felt like he wanted to cry without tears.

Damn it, I was shot even while I was lying down.

I didn't do anything myself.

Manjushri Bodhisattva said:

"Buddha, if the Emperor of the Tang Dynasty dares to provoke Buddhism in this way, there must be an expert behind it. I'm afraid it will be difficult for me to deal with it alone."

Tathagata pondered for a while and said:

"Then let Venerable Guanyin go with you. Venerable Guanyin is in the dark and you are in the light. They will take care of each other and there will be no mistakes."

Tang Dynasty, Chang'an City, Yanta Temple.

After several days of preparations, the Buddhist Dharma Conference officially opened.

In a neat courtyard, all civil and military officials gathered together, with Emperor Li Shimin of the Tang Dynasty sitting at the audience first.

On a high platform in the center of the courtyard, several elderly monks burned incense and prayed. After worshiping the Buddha, they held a scroll of yellow scriptures in their hands and began to preach the Dharma.

Changsun Wuji, Fang Xuanling, Du Ruhui and other important officials of the imperial court sat in the audience, all looking at a loss.

You must know that before this, he had never heard that His Majesty was interested in Buddhism.

Moreover, since Tang Sanzang failed to obtain Buddhist scriptures from the West, he had developed a deep hatred for Buddhism, otherwise he would not have ordered the demolition of the temples in Chang'an City in public.

But what happened today?

His Majesty actually suddenly changed his temper. He wanted to hold some kind of Dharma conference. All civil and military officials should be included. Moreover, they must participate. It would be unacceptable if they did not participate.

This left them a little confused.

In fact, not only were Changsun Wuji and other important officials of the imperial court, but Li Qing and Wu Qiu of the factory team were also present.

Li Shimin's previous series of actions had the ultimate goal of destroying Buddhism.

All this is understandable.

After all, the previous calculations of Buddhism were so despicable that no one could bear it, let alone a majestic emperor?

But now, just a few days later, the other party unexpectedly started to preach Buddhism. Isn’t this contrast too big?

However, despite their doubts, the ministers did not dare to discuss it here, so they could only hold back their words.

For this Dharma conference, His Majesty has issued strict orders, and all officials of the seventh rank and above from the Tang Dynasty will be present.

It can be seen from this that the importance attached to this Dharma conference

It is not certain that the contents of the Buddhist scriptures preached by these eminent monks have any profound meaning.

Therefore, although these ministers felt that this scripture was very boring, they had to brace themselves up and listen carefully.

But after listening to it, the ministers felt that something was wrong with Shi.

How come this Buddhist scripture is purely vernacular? What’s more, it only promotes some concepts of destiny, reincarnation, and the world of paradise.

The sufferings suffered in this life are to atone for the sins of the past life and to accumulate negative virtues for the next life.

Only by being devoted to the Buddha and cultivating diligently can we be able to transcend suffering, avoid falling into reincarnation, and even be able to ascend to the Land of Ultimate Bliss one day.

This chapter is not over, please click on the next page to continue reading! The core concept is to worship the Buddha.

Ordinary people may not find anything wrong with it.

But who are these important officials of the imperial court? They are outstanding figures in the world, top figures in the secular world, existences with first-class eyes, some are proficient in magic, and know all kinds of things in the world of immortals and Buddhas.

Naturally, I quickly figured out what the Buddhist scriptures were talking about.

There are a lot of twists and turns, and it seems very profound, but the core concept is nothing more than worshiping the Buddha.

As long as you are sincere and sincere to the Buddha, you will be free from illness and disaster, and transcend suffering.

What, you said you believe in Buddhism, why do you still do that?

Sorry, that must be because you have committed serious sins in your previous life and are trying to atone for your sins.

This is the mystery of Buddhism. It is almost an endless cycle.

As for what you were like in your previous life, who can ordinary people see it? So just believe in Buddhism.

The difference from ordinary Buddhist scriptures is that ordinary Buddhist scriptures say that monks must meditate and recite sutras, get rid of greed, anger and delusion, and subdue their own evil spirits, so that it is possible for monks to achieve perfection.

And this Buddhist scripture, the pattern is much bigger. The pattern is the name of the scholar.

Transform oneself into a person.

The opening chapter talks about how to save all sentient beings, saving one life is better than building a seven-level pagoda, and using Buddhism to influence people in the world and make them believe in Buddhism. That is even more meritorious.

"Lord Changsun, is this a Buddhist scripture? Why does it sound a bit like Legalism?"

After listening for a long time, Wu Rubian couldn't bear the pain anymore. Changsun Wuji twitched the corner of his mouth, shook his head and said:

"Really? Why didn't I hear it?"

I secretly sighed in my heart that this old man was so sincere and dared to say anything.

Cheng Yaojin gave a thumbs up and said:

"Master Du really hit the nail on the head. I also feel that there is something wrong with the taste of this Buddhist scripture. On the surface it looks high-class, but in fact it is unrealistic."

"If belief in Buddhism can really transcend suffering and prevent illness and disaster, then do the people of the Tang Dynasty still need to work hard all day long?"

Du Ruhui couldn't help but his face twitched and he almost laughed.

This old Cheng was so bold to speak out. Compared with his own straightforwardness, it was nothing at all.

The ministers next to him were all frightened.

Although this statement made sense, they couldn't figure out Li Shimin's true intention.

If His Majesty really wants to promote Buddhism, wouldn't they offend each other by talking like this?

At this moment, Li Shimin suddenly issued an order to stop the monks who were giving lectures.

All the officials were a little confused.

At this moment, Li Shimin stepped onto the high platform and said

"My dear friends, what do you think of this well?" As soon as these words came out, the audience fell into silence. All the ministers looked at each other, and no one dared to answer.

The knowledgeable people present will naturally know what this Buddhist scripture is like.

It's just that this is a court, and there is no right or wrong.

Many things must go according to the intention of this stroke, otherwise there will be big trouble.

Li Shimin said:

You don’t even dare to say so, right? Well, then I’m here to tell you that what these Buddhist scriptures say are nothing but lies.”

"It's flashy, unrealistic, and has no redeeming qualities."

As soon as these words came out, there was an uproar in the audience. Many ministers were shocked. They did not expect that His Majesty would say such shocking words.

But it makes sense to think about it. Not long ago, the other party ordered the demolition of the temple. It is impossible for him to change his attitude toward Buddhism so quickly.

Cheng Yaojin laughed and said:

"What your Majesty said is really heartfelt. What is said in the Buddhist scriptures is too exaggerated. Can you still have enough food and clothing by simply reciting a few lines of Buddhist scriptures?"

This Cheng was a real person and knew how to tell the truth. Li Shimin was immediately amused and said with a smile:

"What I love is right."

"Furthermore, the concept of universal salvation mentioned in the Buddhist scriptures is also ridiculous. Is saving people in a good factory a medical treatment? Life is better than a pagoda?"

"Just imagine, if there is a person who has committed a heinous crime and killed countless people, do you still want to redeem him? Is it fair to the person who was killed? Why do you need the laws of the court?"

"Your Majesty is right. This Buddhist scripture is really full of absurd words, and only some ignorant and shallow people will believe it."

"This kind of Buddhist teachings cannot be spread in the world, otherwise it will cause endless harm."

"It's full of Buddhist scriptures, it's really nonsense. Which monk actually wrote it?"

The ministers present spoke one after another.

It is just a criticism of a Buddhist scripture, and it does not rise to the level of offending Buddhism.

Therefore, everyone was naturally willing to express their opinions and directly launched ruthless criticism of this Buddhist scripture.

Li Shimin almost lost his expression when he saw that everyone's attitude was so unified. Even the ministers who had strongly opposed the demolition of the temple not long ago joined the ranks of criticism.

And the person who said this Buddhist scripture makes no sense, please don’t be so scared that you pee your pants later.

... After listening to it for a long time, Wu Rubian couldn't bear the pain anymore. Changsun Wuji twitched the corner of his mouth, shook his head and said:

There is no way he could change his attitude toward Buddhism so quickly.

Cheng Yaojin laughed and said:

"Your Majesty said this very happily. What is said in the Buddhist scriptures is too exaggerated. Just read a few sentences.
