Recently, some readers expressed their dissatisfaction in the book review section. I thought about it and wrote a single chapter to summarize the feedback.
According to a general understanding, the current dissatisfaction and negative comments from most readers mainly come from three aspects.
First, there are too few updates.
The second is that I have a hard mouth.
Third, the recent plot has been boring.
Let’s start with the first aspect.
1 From an overall perspective, the first time I responded to an update question recently was in Chapter 541.
At that time, I mentioned that this book had more daily updates than the previous book.
Now that some time has passed, the data is as follows after the update. The hexagonal jungler has 426W words, a total of 608 days from the release on January 1, 2022 to today, with an average of 7006 words per day; the roaming mid laner has 402W words, released from June 1, 2020.
By the end of January 1, 2022, there will be a total of 578 days, with an average of 6955 words per day.
There still needs to be more, and I can guarantee that until the end of the hexagonal jungle, the daily updates of this book will be better than the previous book.
Some readers reported that I avoided the important points in my chapter review replies for Chapter 565, only responding to the plot and avoiding the issue of updates.
But at first I felt that the overall amount of updates had just been mentioned in Chapter 541, so there was no reason to mention it specifically in Chapter 565, so I focused on that plot direction.
If the problem mentioned by readers is that there were too few updates in the short period before Chapter 565, I went back and searched again. The average number of updated words in the seven chapters between Chapters 559-565 is 5900 words, and ten chapters from Chapters 551-565.
The average number of words updated in the five days is 6380, which is indeed a little less than the average of this book. I apologize to everyone.
From mid-June to mid-August, the author is quite clear that both quality and quantity have declined. This is an objective fact and cannot be clarified.
Let me briefly talk about the reasons. One is that the actual work mentioned before is relatively busy. There are many new people who have just joined the school, and they often have to travel short distances. The original time for fishing and typing at work has been quite compressed, and I can only go back at night to work.
Code; It just so happens that the LPL schedule is compressed and the games are very intensive. Sometimes I have to delay updating after watching two games.
The second is my own laziness. From the first day of writing in 2022, it must have been about a year and a half. Except for the period when I was forced to take a break due to Yang, I basically never asked for leave.
It didn't seem like anything at first, but since I started to feel stressed at work in June, sometimes I would sit in front of the computer and my mind would go blank. I would type for a long time and not understand what I was writing. I always felt something was wrong, so I could only delete it again, and finally fell into a vicious cycle again and again.
Cycle and enter the open swing state.
Some readers said that I only update two to three thousand words a day, which is a bit exaggerated. After reading the comments, I looked through the update log of the Writer's Assistant Workbench, and there was no similar situation even when including free chapters for the public.
Of course, no matter what the reason is, the problem lies with me personally. There is no reason for anyone to pay for my slackness and poor updates. I deserve to be criticized.
Once a tight string is loosened, it is difficult to tighten it again. Now that the work has become easier, I can only slowly adjust the update volume back to the original state. After the transfer, the average daily update word count is close to 7K words. I hope that in September
Try to update 23-24W words per month.
2 Expanse your mouth and make it hard.
Probably from the beginning of writing the book on hexagonal jungle, some people said that I was exaggerating. Since I won the Twelve Heavenly Kings, similar voices have become more and more intense.
This is also easy to understand. Once there is a problem with the plot or the amount of updates, everyone will naturally want to find the reason.
There are many opinions similar to 'the author becomes popular and makes money, then starts to swell and rest on his laurels'.
To be honest, awards are quite important, but they are not important enough to make me feel inflated.
Did you make any money?
It’s sheer nonsense to say that I haven’t made any money. After all, the two books together have a massive subscription of 8 million words. If I still don’t make money, I probably won’t be able to survive in this business.
But to say "earn enough" is still far from this level.
If I really want to make enough money, why should I write online articles?
The author is still carrying a mortgage, which is why I haven't resigned yet - without provident fund and a stable job, it's too stressful to make a living just by writing.
There is no reason for me to be arrogant. Being able to win the Twelve Heavenly Kings is all because of your real-money subscriptions. Readers are the foundation, and I know this very well.
And what everyone calls "inflation" directly reflects the novel's recent problem of "few updates and poor plot".
The update has just been explained above, so I won’t go into details here. Next, let’s talk about the plot.
The daily content at the end of S7 is mixed with emotional drama and E's business drama. I think the core of the contradiction in everyone's feedback is probably this part of the content.
At that time, in the ‘Writer’s Note’ column at the end of Chapter 565, I explained that the proportion of daily content was determined based on the level of subscriptions.
Readers' current comments are that I was being harsh at the time.
After writing about the roaming mid laner, I once said that this jungle jungle book would continue to be written around the S6-S8 seasons, but there would be some innovative content.
In the original concept, this part included E's role. Gu Pan, the younger sister, was included in the starting character design, so she naturally has her uses.
The original idea was that the main story, namely Gu Xing’s career, accounts for 4/5 of the full text, and the feeder data website accounts for 1/5. The two complement each other and are bound together through the club’s equity capital injection transaction during the S8 transfer period—after all, we want to maintain the original championship team.
A large amount of capital will definitely be needed, and the option of introducing external cash flow will become reasonable.
However, judging from the feedback from readers before Chapter 565, the response to this content was relatively poor. It may be that my writing skills are limited, or it may be that the plot itself is not very pleasing, so I responded like this at the end of the chapter.
In the second half of that response, I also said, 'Although I still haven't figured out why the daily subscription data for those chapters are so high, there are many readers who object, so I will speed up the pace and start the new season immediately.
.'
Soon after, I cut the plot to the S8 season, and the E business part and the emotional drama were almost invisible, and they basically never appeared again. The occasional appearance was only a few strokes, and I didn't focus on describing it.
This chapter is not finished yet, please click on the next page to continue reading the exciting content! I am tough, but not too tough. In fact, I am modifying the plot based on readers' feedback.
However, since the unfolding and retracting of the plot requires a certain amount of space to describe, I would like to sincerely apologize for everyone’s poor reading experience.
3: The recent plot has been boring.
I have already expected this, and I know that everyone’s feedback will be like this.
Because the same problem existed in the previous book.
The third crowning process of the roaming mid laner is also a similar reading experience.
I would like to first tell you about my personal understanding of LOL e-sports articles, which are also my thoughts on writing 8 million words on the same type of subject.
If you have any ideas to exchange, you can share your opinions in the comment area.
Readers or fellow writers who pay attention to Qidian’s game type recommendations must have felt that e-sports articles are the most recommended topics in the early stage. If you look through the recommended game types, most of them are e-sports articles.
For example, the fourth natural disaster and the game alien genre, unless it is a popular old author or a work with profound writing skills, it will be difficult to get a recommendation position from e-sports writers.
The root cause is that the e-sports genre has its own traffic. The games, players, and teams described are all popular, and it is easy to attract the first batch of readers.
Similar is the case of fan fiction, such as various online texts that borrowed the Dragon Clan and Douluo worldviews, which also exploded in popularity in the early stage.
For a long time, Qidian’s various recommendations have been dominated by fandoms, because recommendations require PK, chasing higher promotions, and it is more difficult for original novels to win over fanfics and e-sports articles.
Later, the website changed the recommendation mechanism and lowered the proportion of fan-themed readers in the recommendation competition. For example, 2 fan-themed readers were exchanged for 1 original-themed reader to support the promotion of original genres.
Therefore, the proportion of doujinshi in major recommendations such as Sanjiang is much lower than before.
But e-sports articles are not affected.
Because strictly speaking, e-sports articles are about competition, not fan fiction, but they can still attract traffic that is not inferior to that of fan fiction, and the difficulty of getting recommended is much lower, making it a relatively flattering type.
Moreover, the current popular trend in e-sports themes is to win the first championship at the beginning.
In the process of competing for the first title in an e-sports article, the results will be very fast, and it is also the time when the reputation is the best. As long as the updates are diligent, it is common for orders to double within a month or so of being put on the shelves.
With the help of the self-generated traffic and recommendation positions in the early stage, it is not difficult for e-sports articles to get a "high-quality" badge, that is, 3,000 subscriptions.
But what about after the first championship?
All e-sports articles, without exception, will suffer a huge decline in performance.
Readers of LOL competitive articles must not only read my book, but you can also tell me whether my feelings are correct.
Some of the games with a stronger writing style can survive until the second championship, and then basically withdraw from the two major lists of bestsellers and monthly tickets in the game category.
What's the reason?
Not feeling any better.
E-sports articles are Internet articles with e-sports as the core. If they are Internet articles, they cannot escape from the fun points.
One of the core points of coolness is to satisfy expectations.
In other words, readers must have a sense of expectation before they will continue reading.
But the first championship is the biggest excitement and expectation of e-sports writing.
Readers can immerse themselves in it, with brand new teammates, teams and plot trends, which are full of freshness for everyone. This is also the most active time period for the novel comment area and this chapter. They want to see how the protagonist wins the championship.
After winning the championship, the readers are very satisfied, which is also the high point of e-sports writing.
In the coming new season, many people will choose to read books. After all, if you want to see the next international competition win, you need to wait for a whole long season, and there are still only a few people who will pursue it.
At this point, it is reasonable for the performance of e-sports articles to decline, but it is difficult for the author not to write.
This should be the biggest difficulty that troubles many authors of the same type.
Because we are faced with a paradox.
In reality, Faker has 3S championships, 2 MSI championships, 10 league championships, the highest mountain and the longest river, and his god is very stable. There should be no one who really thinks that he can surpass the world with one championship...
If you want to be the strongest player, you have to not only surround Faker in terms of honor, but at least surpass him in the S game.
Three consecutive S championships are the basic requirement for the protagonists of most LOL e-sports articles.
So here comes the question. The greatest joy and sense of anticipation after the first championship are gone. How to write about the remaining two seasons?
Moreover, you have almost become an all-round warrior after winning your first championship, how can you still grow?
When your strength reaches its peak and there is no room for improvement, winning the game becomes a matter of course.
Readers can easily feel tired and find it difficult to keep reading.
The author Jun Jun was still new to the e-sports genre when he wrote about the roaming mid laner. He didn't realize this problem at the time. He could hold on for two championships, but during the third championship, the subscription price dropped drastically.
Therefore, when I started writing about the hexagonal jungle, I made preparations in advance and wanted to use the new branch lines to transition and support the reading fatigue that everyone faced in the third championship.
Unfortunately, everyone has also seen that due to the improper handling of the author's bacteria, the content of the transfer period that connected the past and the future after the end of the second championship was not pleasing. I cut off the E and emotional scenes in order to stop the loss in time.
.
After cutting off the branch line, the author stepped into the same river for the second time.
Like the wandering mid laner, he can only write about the game and keep winning. Readers who follow the story will feel that the plot has no twists and turns, the rhythm is smooth, and there is no big breakthrough point.
The data also supports this.
The hexagonal jungler's first championship was booked at around 2W, with additional bookings of 16,000 in 24 hours.
After the second championship, all reservations remained unchanged, but the follow-up reservations dropped to between 9k-1W within 24 hours after winning the championship.
Now it is the eve of the third championship, and the subscription has dropped a lot again.
I have accumulated experience from the last book, and I also know that the current situation is that the reading experience is both watery and dry.
It's a weird description, but it's also very appropriate.
I think it’s because I haven’t felt refreshed by winning games all the time, and it feels too bland.
The reason is that the proportion of competitions is too high, one after another, and it is not very smooth to read.
Therefore, some readers may think that the hexagonal jungler in the late stage is a matryoshka replica of the roaming mid laner. This is mainly because the rhythm is so similar and he keeps winning games in the same season.
However, if you look carefully, the detailed game winning method described by the author is completely different from that of a roaming mid laner.
After all, one is the mid laner and the other is the jungler, so their perspectives are different.
And the opponents we faced were also different. I made some designs during the transfer period. For example, Peanut came to EDG, Casar went to RW. The opponents in the mid-season of the S8 season also included Imp Beryl's G2 and the brand new KT.
This VG has set up a stronger opponent.
In addition, when facing enemies in key matches, the author's description and thinking are also extended from the previous book. For example, when facing RNG in the Spring Battle, he not only wrote about the wandering mid laner but also mentioned it
Kai’Sa Vampire’s late-stage double C system also revealed Shi Senming’s idea of bringing [unsealed cheats] to join the vanguard group.
Of course, the issue of rhythm is a top priority and cannot be ignored.
Some readers in the comment area said that they feel like they are running out of money at the moment, urging them to finish the book quickly and start the next one, or to change their vest and start a new book.
To be honest, finishing the book directly was indeed a very beneficial decision for me personally.
But the author still had to bite the bullet and continue writing.
It has nothing to do with money. There is a saying that if I finish writing the second season and read the sequel, I will directly write the ending. Then I will write a new book and the money I will make will not be less than this one.
The problem is still mentioned before, triple crown is almost a basic requirement for e-sports writing.
I also want to write a good ending for Gu Xing.
The number of words in the final season is definitely not many, but it is not so small that it can be covered in just a few strokes - the first two seasons have 4 million words. If the third season only has a few tens of thousands of words, I feel that it should be called a veritable bad ending.
The author is currently laying the groundwork and making foreshadowing. Wait until the summer split and try to make some changes so that the overall rhythm will not be so boring.
This change focuses on the on-field side, rather than the previous off-field branch.
As for whether the effect will be as expected, after experiencing the last incident, I can't guarantee that it will be successful.
However, the author still wants to give it a try to see if he can break through the paradox that I think the first win of an e-sports article is the peak.
These chapters can be regarded as experimental products. You can take a look at the specific quality. If you feel unhappy, you can cancel the subscription - although I can't persuade you at first.
Summary of saving time: The updates are generally acceptable, there are few in the near future but they will improve; the writing attitude is a bit tough, but to be honest, it is not bloated; plot issues will be revised in the summer game.
In the following chapters, I will do my best to satisfy readers who continue to read.
To all readers who have given up on the book because the author has failed during this period, I hope everything is well for everyone, and thank you for your support.
